“We already miss Doire Farm!”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2014

My family of four stayed at Doire Farm cottages for 3 weeks. My husband and I have 2 boys (ages 8 and 12). I can safely say that all four of us felt right at home the moment we arrived. The cottage is so lovely and well equipped that we could have easily just moved in and stayed forever. Anne and her family were all so friendly and gracious, really going out of their way to make our stay even that much better! Anne even treated us to her delicious scones and coffee cake! My family and I all enjoyed the location of the cottage (so convenient to so many wonderful areas to explore) and the country peacefulness it offered after a long day of adventure. We even took a few days just to hang out at the cottage to enjoy the atmosphere, play basketball, and hang out with the chickens. I fell in love with Anne's chickens, and if I didn't have to fly home I would have smuggled them into my luggage when we left. ;) Our time on Doire Farm was certainly a highlight of our 5 week stay in Ireland. We would love to come back someday! I would actually like to move to Ireland, but I need to convince my husband first! Thank you for everything, Anne! I enjoyed getting to know you and your family!

“Amazing and relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2013

We spent in Doire Farm a really beautiful holiday. The house is perfect, you find all you need: the kitchen is fully equipped: the dishwasher and microwave oven are present! There are also washmachine and dryer. Anne and Patrick are absolutely kind and warm hosts. They make you feel at home. From this place you can reach easily the most beautiful places of the south west of Ireland. We hope to come back...

“Real Ireland, beautiful Kerry, lovely cottage with the best host”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2013

Most importantly, Anne and Patrick are wonderful hosts and lovely people. During our week long stay, our family greatly enjoyed getting to know their family including all four children, Sox the Cat and Scruffy the dog (plus the cows and the chickens). The cottage is darling and impeccably clean: 3 large bedrooms with 3 modern bathrooms (the best showers in Ireland!), a beautiful kitchen with everything you need, lovely family room and patio, plus a washing machine and dryer. Anne may even surprise you with apple tarts with fresh cream! Great location to explore both Kerry and Cork (you are right off the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara), quick drive into Kenmare, or just chill out in the stunning beauty of the Irish countryside. Our family of 5 (three teenage children) kept pretty busy exploring. All of anne's recommendations for adventure/dining were spot on! Next trip, we will spend some more time just hanging out at the cottage. One quick story: we blew out a tire one evening in the Gap of Dunloe. We could have spent half a day finding a repair shop and getting it fixed, but Patrick made one phone call to a friend at a tire shop who met me (at 6:00 in the morning!) and had us road ready by 6:45 a.m. Saved the day! Thanks to their son, Shane, my son and I have become big fans of hurling. Shane gave us a hurling lesson and helped us buy tickets to a GaA match at Croke Park in Dublin. We highly recommend that you check out Gaelic sports when you're in Ireland. We are home now, but can't wait to go back to Doire Farm!

“The perfect cottage with the greatest hostess !!!”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2013

My husband, my 8-month old son and I just spent a wonderful week at the Doire cottage. The cottage was beautiful, so clean and well maintained. The location was just perfect to explore Kenmare, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. What made our stay even more enjoyable was the owner, Anne !! She brought us fresh milk, eggs and scones. She even brought toys for our baby boy. She really made us feel at home and even shared a few cooking tips !! I highly recommend this cottage. Our experience was just perfect. Thank you anne !

“We had a great stay in Doire Farm Cottages”

Reviewed 25 May 2013

My 20-year old daughter and I spent five nights at Doire Farm and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Anne is a warm and easy-going host, and we felt immediately welcome and comfortable in her lovely cottage. Our cottage was "Pa's Cottage" in the double-unit building. We were completely happy with it. We will fondly remember out time at Doire Farm. We enjoyed the freshly baked scones from anne, the fresh milk from her family's cows (best milk I've ever tasted), the animals at the farm (including Scruffy, the sweetest dog you could ever meet), chatting with anne, day trips to the absolutely gorgeous Beara Peninsula and Killarney National Park, and convenient shopping in the cute, nearby town of Kenmare. I can wholeheartedly recommend Doire Farm Cottages and would stay there again without hesitation! Thank you, Anne! Your place is special! Elaine

“A lovely cottage and an amazing hospitality”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

We spent a week at Doire Farm Cottage whereas at the beginning we thought staying 4 nights. We were two adults and two young children (2.5 years old and 3 months old). Ann and Patrick welcomed us very well. The cottage is very clean, comfortable, very well equipped (especially the kitchen) and tastefully decorated. The fireplace is very nice in the evening after a day spent visiting Kenmare, the Ring of Kerry, the Ring of Beara... Our eldest has loved the playground (swing, baskettball,slide...). He has loved to collect the eggs in the morning, running after chickens, see the cows being milked and to give drink to the calves with ann. She also let him some toys. Ann has prepared scones and an apple pie. They were so good that my wife has learned to make scones and bread with her.

“What a Delight!”

Reviewed 19 May 2012

Anne and Patrick were wonderful hosts - warm, welcoming, and willing to share all they knew about the area and what we might like to do. Anne even booked our dinner out! The cottage was immaculate, and there was homemade bread and scones waiting for us when we arrived. The setting was spectacular; I took walks along their quiet country road each morning. Perfect location to see all the sights, or stay home and be cozy with a fire. We will definitely be back!

“The gem in SW Ireland.”

Reviewed 9 May 2012

Doire Farm Cottages surpassed our every expectation. Anne and her family welcomed us with open arms. The farm cottage was perfect for family. With a fully furnished kitchen we were able to take advantage of the fresh eggs and make great breakfasts. Additionally, the fireplace gave the children an opportunity make a fire every night. Anne was very helpful in helping us plan our daily outings from suggestions of what to see to where to eat. We are already planning our return visit to SW Ireland and to Doire Farms!

“A wonderful stay at Doire Farm Cottages”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2012

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Doire Farm Cottages. The cottage was clean, modern and was well appointed with all that we needed. It is very spacious and we had plenty of room to spread out as an extended family of 4. Doire Cottages are perfectly situated to enjoy touring County Kerry. The cottage is located on a dairy farm within a quick 5 minute drive into the cute town of Kenmare. Anne was a wonderful host who was always willing to help with suggestions. It was a lovely stay!

“Truly authentic Ireland”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2011

We were treated to a friendly welcoming home, and stayed in one of the individual cottages on the farm, where our hostess, Anne, whose unobtrusive style, and lovely touches of hospitality were in keeping with the overall character of the place, full of subtlety, charm, and warmth, altogether wonderful! Doire farm is in a perfect setting, nestling just outside of the historic town of Kenmare, gazing out onto pastures, hills and wide-open spaces. Everything you could think of is provided, the cottage we stayed in was sparkling, and altogether delightful, with lovely kitchen, fireplace, bath, and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Was hard to get going in the mornings! But the fresh laid eggs from Anne's lovely little hens tempted us out the door! Once outside prepare to enter a magic fairyland, surrounded by glorious trees, shrubs, herbs and plants, and bog oak dating back to the distant past. Loved the farm, which is perfectly situated for sightseeing in this amazing area, Ring of Beara and Kerry a short drive away, Kenmare on your doorstep, and the Atlantic ocean nearby. Plenty to see and do, and returning to a cosy, comfortable home, with plenty of space for chilling, lounging, grilling, chatting. And if you're lucky, you might persuade Anne's two lovely nymphets, Padraig and Maria to play a traditional Irish melody on the tin whistle! A truly authentic Irish experience not to be missed.
