“Beautiful House”

Reviewed 5 May 2014

A group of five of us stayed at Casa Tolteca when we came to Vieques for a wedding in april 2014. The house was wonderful and it was so nice to have a house with a kitchen and washer/dryer while we were on vacation. The property is kept up very well. We really enjoyed the pool and the whole outdoor space. We were even able to use the grill which was really great. All of the bedrooms were very nice and comfortable and it was great having three bathrooms so we never had to share. The house is located in a more neighborhood like area with locals but since the island is pretty small and we had a rental car there was never really an issue getting anywhere. We would highly recommend the house to anyone staying on the island and would love to come back one day!

“Great Spot”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

We stayed at Casa Tolteca in March with our two children (4 and 7) and friends and their children (7 and 9). The kitchen was great - open, welcoming and very well equipped, even with sharp knives which we rarely find in our rentals. It was clean and very well maintained. There was plenty of space for all. The upstairs "suite" is particularly lovely. The pool was great to have with the kids. The house is close to amazing beaches and both major towns. We love to cook on vacation and found plenty of good raw materials at the grocery stores, open market and fish market. We didn't meet Kelly, but it was a very nice touch to have Cheo pick you up at the airport and bring you to your rental car place. He was quite helpful with local recommendations. I rarely want to go back to a place we've been but I would definitely go back to Vieques and Casa Tolteca.

“an ideal place for a family to gather”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2014

Our expectations about Villa Tolteca were high -- but our stay exceeded them! The house is spacious, comfortable, and astonishingly well equipped. Cheo and Kelly, who oversee the property, were consistently helpful. An ideal place to stay.

“Awesome!”

Vieques was quite an adventure- it was nice to have a beautiful, comfortable home to relax in and spread out. We especially enjoyed the upstairs deck for stargazing at night. The pool was wonderful, great temp. not too warm or cold, we used it everyday! The bed linens were top notch and the kitchen was well equipped. There is a gecko that seems to live near the safe in the kitchen- really funny. Also, we did see a few bugs (spiders, cockroaches) but you are in the middle of a tropical island, so that would be normal. There are air conditioners in each bedroom- really only ran them to help drown out morning noises- chickens and dogs were up early! We rented the suv from the caretakers- which worked out great. They pick you up airport and bring you to the house- very helpful, not all the roads have signs so it got us familiar with the island. Overall, great house centrally located- would hope to return sometime again!

“Tropical Paradise”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2014

This was our second time staying at Casa Tolteca. I would recommend this tropical mountain retreat to anyone interested in breathtaking scenery and a soft breeze at all times. The grandchild as well as the adults enjoyed the pool and the lovely large patio surrounded by stunning fauna. My son who is a gourmet cook severed delicious dinners in the well stocked kitchen. The house was spacious and comfortable and the caretakers, Kelly and Cheo, were always available and helpful to our every needs. My family and I enjoyed our two week stay at Casa Tolteca and are planning to return again next year. Theresa D

“Casa Tolteca”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2014

The house is really great! It was perfect for our group. Very comfortable/tidy. Loved the layout and the colors and the style. Loved the landscaping around the house. Although, I'm not a huge fan of the condition of the roads you have to drive on to get there. The house has just about everything you could ask for and the owners clearly worked hard to anticipate any need. Beach chairs, snorkeling gear, cooler, beach towels just to name a few... It's close to the beaches and not too far to the two main towns. It also is close to a convenience store. The rooftop deck is a great place to watch the stars or to gather for a drink. Great view. But, the planks are pretty weathered. We're told they are being replaced. Kelly and Cheo are very helpful and responsive. They gave us a lot of tips about what to do while we were there. No problems with the wi-fi, even with multiple users. It was a very memorable trip and so needed given the crazy winter in the states. We are definitely planning a return trip and we'll keep Casa Tolteca at the top of the list for potential accommodations!

“Love this house!”

The house was one of the best parts of our whole stay. It's beautiful, and in fact, I liked it better in person than in the pictures. Really nice kitchen, great outdoor space, beautiful landscaping, clean. It was more than just a rental-- Cheo picked us up from the airport and took us to get our rental car. That's service! Thanks for a great stay!

“Perfect Island Villa with privacy and plenty of room for a group”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2014

I can't say enough about this wonderful property. This is the second time we have rented the villa and both times we absolutely loved it. It is in a quieter part of the island away from a lot of traffic and noise. Loved falling asleep at night with the windows open and the only sounds were animals chirping. It is very close to almost every beach on the island and easy to get around. The owners have taken exceptional care of the property. All the beds are very comfortable, the linens are nice, and there are plenty of dishes for those who want to cook at home. We loved the outdoor shower on the main floor and most of us used it daily. The washer and dryer were also a bonus as then you can go home with a suitcase full of clean clothes and less hassle. The caretakers are super helpful and made the check in process a breeze by not only meeting us at the ferry to take us to our villa but also getting our rental car for us in advance so we didn't have to make an additional trip. They were available all week anytime we had a question about the villa, needed supplies, or just general questions about things to do or places to go on the island. This villa is perfect for a family or group as has four large bedrooms and three bathrooms and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. They have a large table in the kitchen with plenty of serving pieces for any size group. We had 7 and never felt crowded in the villa and loved fixing meals and eating by the pool. I would highly recommend renting this villa if you are headed to Vieques - you won't be disappointed by the amenities, overall quality, and value.

“Thoughtful, Hospitable & Fabulous”

Reviewed 19 Dec 2013

Casa Tolteca provided us with our favorite family vacation to date. The house is perfect: loved the kitchen--both my husband and I are pretty harsh judges of kitchens since cooking is our big hobby--and it was totally unexpected to find such a comfortable and functional kitchen in the middle of nowhere in a rental home in Pr--but it's there! The bedrooms are lovely. The linens were comfortable & welcoming, the towels were a nice touch and the aC split units were perfect. Loved being lulled to sleep at night by the coquis & their friends! The whole family loved the cross breezes and sitting on the upstairs balcony staring up at the stars at night. The terraced upper deck was gorgeous--just like the rest of the house. And the landscaping...just another one of the thoughtful details that helped add up to the entire fabulousness of Casa Tolteca. It was immediately apparent to both my husband and me how much time, thought and care you had put into the design of the home. Casa Tolteca is unquestionably a labor of love. The pool, of course, was the star of the show. Our girls lived in it and my husband and I appreciated that it was salt water and so thoughtfully engineered for swimming and relaxing. And last--but far from least--Kelly and Cheo are the perfect property managers. Both responsive and unobtrusive, you have yourselves a real find in them. Vieques is lovely and we spent every day exploring a new part of the island--our Jeep was covered in sand and mud by the middle of the week. We went horseback riding with Taxi, on a Bio Bay tour, visited like 20 different island beaches, snorkled, ate at a different restaurant every time we went out, and even managed a visit to Old San Juan on our way home.

“Simply paradise”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2013

We have been renting vacation houses throughout the world and this one was just perfect. The owners and the hosts were very helpful and accommodating. The house has a feel of a luxurious retreat, from the luscious tropical garden, stunning view down to the smell of bed linens and bath towels. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare gourmet meals, which was a saver since we never made it to any of the island's restaurants as the kids would not leave the pool unless we were going to the beach. Can't wait to go back.
