“Overpriced...”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

I have stayed in Telluride and in many CO mtn towns and never been so disapointed. The unit was shabby and not well cleaned. It had not been updated for 20+ years. The kitchen supplies were old and limited and the beds were terrible. At $800 per night during Bluegrass this was robbery...at a lower price...like $200-$300 it may be tolerable. Go somewhere else.

“Think about it and read this review.”

Reviewed 9 May 2013

I am a Colorado native and wanted to share Telluride with my family, so we stayed at Mtn.House East from 3/11-15/13. The house itself was adequatley stocked with utensils, plates, dish detergent, etc.and it was centrally located (short walk to Main St. or lift #7). However; the decor was outdated and in dire need of upgrades. The ski locker was full of junk, spider webs and trash. Someone left clothes hanging in the closets, and none of the humidifiers worked. The water pressure was almost zero and the hot water lasted about two short showers...dont even think about a bath. Most disconcerting was the photo. The photo they show you is the back of the house, which looks like a single family place set off from the rest of Telluride's cramped quarters. Not the case at all, this is a duplex. An honest front view would be nice, as that would show how close you are to every other condo and duplex in the area. We were lucky and had quiet, normal neighbors, but could hear the parties going on all night around us. The deck had no patio furniture, or grill and was split in several places, with peeling paint, leaving sharp edges for the little ones. Parking was ok, as long as you have a small vehicle. Finally we come to the staff. Although check in was easy and went off without a hitch, we requested a late check out (1100am) and were denied because they said new quests were coming in at noon. Check-in is 4 pm. We stayed around town after check out to get some things and eat lunch. I decided to check the house out at 1:30pm and guess what...no one there. When we told staff about the water pressure, it was obvious they didn't care at all and were going to do nothing about it (typical of Telluride's "you don't live here" attitude). I really hope the owner reads this and takes action because he/she is getting ripped off by TaL, they are doing nothing for you!

“Nice large house very close to Lift 7”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2012

We enjoyed our stay, although the house does not look as pictured. It's surrounded by big high-rise (for Telluride) condos and the parking lot goes right up to the steps. The kitchen was well provisioned, except there were no cookie sheets or baking pans. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra pillows and bedding. The couch in the living room is a fold-out double, which was very helpful, and there is a nice big dining table for people to eat around. It would have been nice to have some instructions about the condo such as what to do with the trash and recycling, what the internet password was, and a listing for the TV channels. We finally found the internet password inside the front cover of a small modem instruction book in the cabinet under the TV. Most of our group consisted of college students who had to work on papers and homework during the weekend and needed access to the internet. We arrived too late to call the office, which is normal driving from Denver or Colorado Springs because of the distance and not being able to leave until after class. We left the trash bagged neatly in a corner of the kitchen and took the recycling with us, since there were no other instructions and we couldn't find any trash receptable outside the house. Besides these minor issues, it was a great place to stay and easy to walk to Lift 7 which was good for the college racers because they had to be there so early in the morning. The parking worked out well - we parked one car underneath the carport, stacked one right behind it, and parked another car in front, which didn't seem to cause any problems. We would definitely stay there again.

Response from the manager Thank you for your detailed review of Mountain House East. It sounds like the photo you were looking at was from the front and include the large front yard. The back is pretty close to the road though with parking across the street. It sounds like we were missing our binder with information such as trash pick up, recycling and Internet information. We will make sure it is there for future guests. We look forward seeing for your next race!

“Very nice place”

I have stayed at three different locations and this was my favorite of them all. Very clean and close to everything.

Response from the manager Thank you for your reveiw of Mountain House East. It has a great location with easy access to downtown, the ski area and Clark's Market. We hope you are able to come back for another visit soon.

“Bluegrass festival with friends”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2010

Great time once again in Telluride - we've been coming for years and enjoyed this long weekend very much at Mtn House East. Overall, you guys were great. I would however, suggest the following two improvements to make it even better: - better communication on # of parking spots on a festival weekend... we were told 3 but given just 1 parking pass - stock up on basics (toilet paper, garbage bags) Thank you very much, we had a great time.

Response from the manager Thank you for shaing your experience during your stay at Mountain House East. Thank you for your suggestions. We will share your ideas with our guest services and housekeeping departments.
