“Cottage with a Mouse”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2010

Putting it Simple ! 1. I have stayed with this place be before in a chalet, and it was what i expected! 2. The Cove was different! It was the worse place I have stayed! I have been to Hocking about 10 times and been in a different cabin everytime. 3. The office said the cottage was secluded, it wasn't! County road right in the front and neighbors on both sides. Neighbors can see both the front and back (hot tub area). 4. There was a "MOUSE" in the cottage! and plenty of "MOUSE DROPPING" on the floors. The "MOUSE" got into the chips, bread, and the dog food! We had to run the vacuum and clean the counters of the "MOUSE DROPPING". 5. The "MOUSE" kept our dog on High Alert during the night, so we didn't sleep well. But, as always Hocking Hills was wonderful, the falls had lots of water, best we have seen! The Sandstone Resturant was Great! And as always the best pizza in the world - Pizza Crossing!

“Almost perfect”

We had a great time and think the cabin has some nice ammenities. The hot tub and indoor spa tub were relaxing. The only issues we had were all the clocks were not changed and an hour behind. Time change occured the week prior to being there. We were there for a night before realizing it. I am a country boy now living in the city, so I realize rodents can be an issue. But, the Cove has a rodent. Rodent feces were on the NIGHT STAND!!! A rodent ate through many of our food items ruining what little food we brought out. I checked the area and saw no measures of preventing rodents.(traps) I would be torn on recommending Chalets. My honest commet would be; The place was nice and had more potential. But, be aware of the cleanliness. Barry Hall

“Great experience”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2009

My best friend and I went down and stayed at the cove cottage for 5 days in mid october. We just wanted to get away for a while and relax. We loved the cottage. It was very clean and neat. It was just like having a little tiny home. We loved being able to soak in the hot tub also. The only thing you need to remember is that the water smells a little and if you have a white swim suit and soak in the hot tub it might turn it just a little brown. Rinse it out every night. We had a great stay and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would reccommend for anyone to go down and have a great time.

Response from the manager Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about the Cove Cottage.......we do understand the water smells in that area due to the Sulphur in it....I would like to inform you that we have many chalets that do not have the smell of Sulphur in it. Thank you again, and I hope you will remember us for all your lodging needs.

It's nice to know that you can come to Old Man's Cave from Columbus and feel so far away.

“NICE cottage”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2009

WE enjoyed our stay. We knew it was very, very, very clean because the smell of Pinesol was overwhelming! Had to air it out for a while. My husband has some mobility issues but the 3-5 steps to the back deck was doable and having everything on one floor was ideal. Our dog loved the front deck (that he could not escape from). And we loved being able to sit there withou him being tied up! We stopped to get fresh corn, etc, from a farm stand, but there were no microwave safe pans so I had to boil the corn on the stove( I prefer to microwave the corn when the inside is warm, which it was since we were airing out the pinesol smell! We would stay again for sure!!!!

“Relaxing Retreat”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2009

I would definitely come back. I would like to stay in an A frame cabin next time to be closer to the pool. Probably will bring the entire family back for another vacation.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking time to write a review about your stay with us. We appreciate your business and look forward to your next visit....

“Enjoyed a relaxing getaway.”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2009

The cottage we rented was very clean & well kept. The hot tub was an excellent way to relax at the end of the day. I loved sitting on the porch each morning with a cup of coffee, reading my Bible, & enjoying the peaceful outdoors. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Response from the manager We are so happy you were able to relax and enjoy some quiet time in the great outdoors of Hocking Hills. Thank you for your comments! We hope you will visit us again soon!
