“Relaxing get away!”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2011

We stayed at the Hawks Peak with six people very comfortably. The cabin was very clean and the beds are soft, the water pressure was fine and the quality of water was great as well. The hot tub was the best for us. The tops are so easy to take off and we loved the led lights. We had to call the front desk for a new gas tank for the grill and they were there very quick! A+ Only suggestion would be to add a light by the grill area. There are rope lights on the stairs except for the last one, so its hard to see the last step in the desk. We had two people fall and almost sprained an ankle - other then than excellent cabin! The cabin is perfect distance to any of the fine attractions!

“Awesome weekend away!”

the Hawk's Peak cabin is wonderful. We found ourselves very relaxed in a clean and well maintained cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for an awesome getaway!

“Beautiful and relaxing!”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2010

My husband and I do not get a chance to be alone very often so this was an exceptional place to go to get away. We enjoyed the privacy and the beauty of the area and we were both very impressed with the cabin. We were able to have a wonderful romantic weekend! I had purchased this weekend as a Christmas gift for my husband and he shared that this was the greatest gift of all!

“GREAT GETAWAY PLACE”

Enjoyed two nights in your wonderful clean, well equipped cabin. Will look forward to coming again.

“Grandparents Wonderful Weekend!”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2010

We have three grown children and four very young grandchildren. We had an opportunity to get together for a weekend but did not have room for everyone to stay together. Staying at Hawk's Peak gave us the opportunity to create wonderful memories for everyone. The cabin was comfortable, and made us feel at home. Our grown children enjoyed the hot tub for relaxing while we enjoyed the grandchildren. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, we just brought the food for cooking! We were impressed that the soap in the bathrooms was from bath & body works, what a nice little touch!

“Would be perfect with a couple adjustments”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2010

For a third year, we traveled to Hocking Hills to spend New Year's Eve with our four children. Each time we have stayed in a different cabin (not because we didn't enjoy the previous ones, but because we want each time to be a little unique.) This year, we chose Hawk's Peak. We loved the setting (definitely heed the warning to have 4-wheel drive!)way up on the hill. On the positive side: Check-in was quick and welcoming. The cabin was very clean and peaceful. It had wonderfully soft beds, a screened-in porch and hot tub (serviced daily), and plenty of dining space (inside and out). Some changes to address to make the accomodations perfect: The cabin is supposed to accomodate up to 8 people, yet only has fireplace/family room seating for 4. Our family had to pull over kitchen chairs to watch TV (not the most comfortable way to cozy around the fireplace.) Our suggestion would be to add a loveseat and create an "L" with the sofa. Blender: All previous properties that we've rented had one, so we did not bring one along. It wasn't a huge deal, but maybe the owner could add this minor convenience. Wine Opener: The one there was broken. We called the office and they kindly found one and delivered it to us. Dishes/Bowls/Silverware: Not nearly enough for 6, let alone 8, people. We had to wash things out by hand before each meal. (Barely used the dishwaher.) Serving pieces: One baking dish and two serving bowls (neither microwave or ovensafe) just weren't enough. We used one bowl to hold ice in the freezer, so we were down to just a couple pieces that we needed to use over and over, hand-washing each time. Again, something the owners might want to invest in. Overall, we had a terrific time and enjoyed Hawk's Peak. Like, I said, with just a few minor changes, this could be a cabin we choose again.

Response from the manager First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review on Hawk's Peak. We strive to provide outstanding customer service and the best accommodations possible to our valued customers. In the past, I have not had any comments on the seating arrangements of Hawks Peak, but will certainly mention your comments to management. I have passed along your comments to the Operations Manager, and he assures me that he will do inventory of the kitchen and take care of it promptly. Thank you again for your continued business and we hope you will remember us for your future lodging needs.

“Hawks Peak”

Old Mans Cave Chalets treated us the right way from the initial reservation to check out. They are very helpful and willing to answer any questions. The house was newly renovated and had all the amenities. The only thing missing was a game room for the basement, but there were plenty of other things to keep busy-campfire, big screen tv, and hot tub to name a couple. I would highly recommend Old Mans Chalets for anyone heading to Logan!

Response from the manager Thank you so much for taking the time to review Hawk's Peak. We appreciate your positive comments! We hope you will visit us again soon and remember us for all of your lodging needs!

“Love it ....but...”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2009

We really love Hawks Peak. Stayed there in the Spring too! Very roomy...ammenties are wonderful...kids love it too! The toilet seat in the master bath is broken and has been since Spring but the BIGGEST negative is - when we booked the cabin in the Spring it was a flat fee (sleeps 8 comfortably)...BUT when I went to book it this fall they CHARGE after the first two guests - $15 PER GUEST!!!!! Now .... let's think about this ... that would cost me an ADDITONAL $60 a night just for my husband, myself, and our 4 kids that are ages 8,5,4, and 4 to stay.... lets remember that this cabin sleeps 8 people and who in the world would rent it for JUST a couple?! In all we LOVE LOVE LOVE it but don't know if we will stay again or reccommend it to anyone else because of these hefty charges. Maybe you should really re think this policy...especially in these economic times.

Response from the manager Good News! When our customers talk......we listen!! I reviewed your comments and that of other customers to our President/Owner and he has dropped this $15.00 charge....so to encourage you to come back, we are sending you a $50.00 Gift Certificate. Thank you again!

“Girls Getaway”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2009

We 4 girls have been friends since the 5th grade. We finally got everyone together, one from as far as California, and stayed at the Hawks Peak cabin. Overall we had an excellent time, but feel the cabin had some quirks that needed attention to justify the price they charged for the next time we getaway. The toilet seats were horrible, sliding all over the place. This was mentioned more than once in the guest book in the cabin from previous guests. The cabinet doors in the kitchen needed handles or knobs of some kind. Being a newly remodled cabin, you would think these 2 things would have been done. The cabinets required a knife to open, not good. The porch lite bulb was burned out, not good for dark evenings, even though we had flashlights. The hot tub took forever for us to figure out the jets inside the tub had been "dialed off" so they didn't give us the massage feature we would have liked. Wasn't sure if the cleaner/caretaker daily did this, but once we figured it out, the 3rd day, it was wonderful. It was not in the hot tub instructions provided either, we looked and looked for the "jet" feature that was the source of our problem. We really could have used another bed in one of the rooms. Using the pullout was ok, but next time we will look for a cabin with enough actual beds. Could you possibly add a bunk to the large upstairs bedroom, there is certainly enough room. The atmosphere was tranquil, we had a fabulous time, but if we were in a "hotel" we would have switched rooms. We will be back next year, just to a different cabin.

“very clean & enjoyable”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2009

We had a great time, wish we could of stayed longer. 1 night isn't long enough. We felt like home in our cabin. We had a exchange student from Barcelona Spain and he enjoyed it very much. The only thing I would suggest is getting a bigger road sign to the cabin ( Berry Road) we passed the street a few times. We will recommend to friends and family !The driveway was a bit steep glad we didn't come in the winter :)
