“Great secluded getaway for quiet family time”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2013

Great spot if you want some quiet family time and the kids are happy to just laze about and swim. The staff are great especially Millie and Kamar who kept us well fed with local fare. Here are some tips to make your stay more pleasant: 1. Make sure you stop at the Mega Mart in Montego Bay and pick up the following for the duration of your stay - wine, beer, pop, fruit juice, and snacks. Breakfast and dinner and catered but you are on your own for lunch. If you do not like dinner leftovers pick up lunch fixings as well. 2. The edge of the village is a 30 minute walk and the centre about an hour. The 2 mountain bikes that come with the villa are in bad shape so either impress on the owners to get better bikes or have them arrange a rental at a reasonable price. We were gouged $15 a day for bikes you would buy in a garage sale for $10. 3. If you need internet access The Cove is the closest spot. 4. Walks - walking away from the village, 15 minutes is a great lookout point opposite a house called Pon De Rock. Great for sunsets with a bottle of wine. Further 15 minutes from this point is the public beach which is great for a morning walk. 5. Beach access is not very convenient and there were fishermen who seemed concerned about us getting too close to their traps and hooks. 6. The pool is great though. 7. Take a bike ride to the village for a little cultural immersion - about 1 hour roundtrip.

“Relaxing experience close to the wonderful people and land of Ja”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2012

Villa arcadia is a perfect location for a relaxing rural vacation that embodies the very best of the land, people and customs of Jamaica. Miss Millie and Mr. Teddy were attentive and cheerful hosts who kept the grounds and house immaculate and true to the local environment. Miss Millie is an outstanding cook with her garlic lobster, jerk chicken and pork, and fresh caught snapper cooked on the charcoal grill--yum! Then you have all the wonderful tropical fruit brought in fresh from Black River: great for breakfast and those evening rum daiquiris. The house is light and airy, and the grounds inviting with the clear cool waters of the pool, the colorful flowers, and the variety of bird wildlife. Local walks to Billy's Bay and 2 local coves for private swimming and snorkeling rounded out the experience perfectly. You can do a day trip or two to the local attractions, but staying close to Villa arcadia is just fine too. Finally, the owners in New York were a delight to deal with. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

“Wonderful Place to Get away”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2011

From the moment my husband and I arrived at Villa arcadia to the time we left we had a great time. Everything exceeded our expectations. Villa arcadia was a very comfortable place - clean, bright and airy. Miss Millie took very good care of us. She is a wonderful cook and very knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed all the fresh fruits, having breakfast outside in the morning, lunch by the pool, sitting on the porch, watching the hummingbirds, listening to the birds sing, swimming in the pool, reading in the hammocks, visiting with Miss Millie, having great dinners, playing dominoes with Teddy and watching movies in the evening. We walked to Calabash Bay a couple of times (about an hour walk each way - quite enjoyable), went to the beach (about a 10 minute walk) every morning - only saw a couple other people there the whole week! What is not to like about a beautiful private beach right down the road. We watched the sunset each night across the street on the stairs - great place for a sunset! Treasure beach is a wonderful area - very laid back and quiet - we enjoyed taking walks in the afternoon and jumping in the pool when we got back to the villa to cool off. Teddy is up early every morning to keep the pool clean. If you are looking for a nice vacation to get away from it all, Villa arcadia is a great place to go. The only recommendation I could give would be to have bicycles available for guests to use - it is a great area to ride bikes (we borrowed bikes from the neighbor one day and it was a lot of fun). We have been to Jamaica many times, but believe we finally saw the real Jamaica.

“Great place to relax”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2010

The house is situated on a gorgeous and well-manicured property which provided spectacular scenery. Millie was an excellent hostess and her cooking of local cuisine exceeded all of our expectations. Teddy always made sure that the pool was clean and ready for use. Plus, he was able to score two lobsters for us to eat one evening. The only problem we had was that transportation was difficult to come by if you don't have a car (or access to a driver, which was available for a fee). Access to bikes for the guests would alleviate this problem. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

“The Prefect Spot For Us!”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2009

Villa Arcadia was the PERFECT vacation spot for us. We were looking for something off the beaten track. We wanted to really experience Jamaica. We wanted to be pampered a little. We wanted to eat real Jamaican food. I wanted a pool. Villa Arcadia delivered all this and more! The villa was SO CLEAN, and bright. It has everything you need. It did not take long for us to feel at home right away. At home I do a lot of cooking, so for me vacation is NOT cooking. Miss Millie made breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day! We did not tell her what we wanted to eat. We just let her feed us. Everything she made was so good. My favorite is pumpkin soup. Jim enjoyed the special potato salad (he NEVER eats potato salad!). Lots of new taste. A special memory for me is waking up hearing Miss Millie singing or humming while she made breakfast. I felt like "Queen for a day". Miss Millie made us feel like family. Each morning I would go out to the pool for a swim. Teddy, the grounds keeper had the pool spotless every day. If we needed anything, Teddy or Miss Millie always knew the answer. There was a nice place across the road to get to the sea. It was a really nice place to just chill by the sea. Just my sweets and me! This Villa is so special to us! We are empty nesters, and this was our first big vacation without children. This villa was the PERFECT place to rekindle our love, and reconnect with each other. By the time we left were calling the villa "Our Love Nest" We highly recommend Villa Arcadia.
