Just got back from a 7 night stay at La Sirena and it was absolutely amazing!! Ida and her staff are fabulous!!! Could not say enough great things about them!! They greeted us upon our arrival, made us feel comfortable and right at home!! Ida would make us breakfast and dinner. They did not serve lunch, but they had food for us to eat. The food was delicious!! We had authentic Jamaican meals everyday!! We had a huge basket of fresh fruit that we were able to snack on and also had as part of breakfast. Shep, Ida's son came every morning to clean the pool and water the plants. He was very nice and would spend some time talking to us! The view is awesome! We saw some amazing sunrises and sunsets! There is hill that you do have to walk down to get to the beach but it is definitely worth the hike!! The beach is a little rocky but you can swim in it. We spent a lot of time in the ocean and down on the beach. It's a small beach, less than a mile, with a few villas but very rarely did we see anyone. It was like having the beach to ourselves!! Midway down the hill, there was a sunset deck. It was a great place to watch the sunset!! It was great talking to the staff and learning about their culture! It was a beautiful, relaxing place with excellent staff and made for a great vacation!!!
“A great place to escape the world”
Just returned from a weeks stay at La Sirena and could not have been any happier with our choice. Having been to Jamaica before, always on the North Coast, we wanted something different out of this trip to Jamaica. At La Sirena, that is exactly what we got! Miss Ida and her crew were such a pleasure to be around! We were a group of 5 (ages 27-31) and felt completely comfortable with them. Loved her food and they were great to sit and talk with! They make this villa even more special!! The villa -- As for the villa itself, it is located at the end of Treasure Beach. It sits up on a hill directly above Billys Bay. The pool is a little bigger than it looks in pictures. You will not be swimming laps but it is enough to get in and cool off. The Beach is amazing! If you want to venture out into the community, there is a store about a minutes walk from the villa (The South Pole). They have everything from rum and red stripe to toothpaste. There are also plenty of Jerk spots you can walk to. The beach -- A stretch of beach that runs about 3/4 a mile that you share with maybe 4 or 5 other villas, and a few locals who dock their fishing boats at the far end of the beach. There is a path with steps at the very bottom to get onto the beach (not a terribly long path but is kind of steep and does require around 10 stairs at the bottom). We loved the beach! My wife and I would take a walk every morning for sunrise. We might have seen 5 or 6 other people on the beach. It also offered gorgeous sunsets! Treasure Beach is definitely something special. A small fishing a farming village, it is the exact opposite of most tourist destinations in Jamaica. Not the hustle and bustle that comes along with an Ocho Rios or a Negril. Certainly not the vendors and peddlers you get taking a stroll down 7 mile beach or walking the "strip" in Mo Bay. Just a small community on the South Coast of Jamaica, quite and secluded. An absolutely wonderful place with wonderful people!
Response from the manager Alex, I am so happy that you and your group enjoyed La Sirena, Miss Ida & Crew, Treasure Beach and realized how special of a place it is. :) It was a pleasure assisting you with your travel needs and hope to hear back from you again. Thanks for posting some photos too! Kindest regards - Nicole, Tiverton House, LLC
“Awesome vacation and perfect engagement spot!”
Let me start with a few words that come to mind: Awesome, amazing, relaxing, peaceful, beautiful...I could go on and on!! The Villa, Huge yet warm and welcoming and the staff (or should I say our new family members) were incredible! We shared great conversations and so many laughs with them. We never had a worry and the food...words can't describe how delicious every meal was. We ate so well that I took a picture of Miss Ida and Monica and told them it was for my treadmill to remind me why I was on it..lol! We enjoyed every walk on the beach picking shells and swimming in what seemed to be our own private beach. On that same beach, at the bottom of the villas stairway was a message in the sand to me from my boyfriend "Will you marry me?" Ummm Yesss!!! Thanks to Rebecca from Treasure Tours, Lance, Monica and Haley for assisting in my big surprise (sure wish Miss Ida could have been there, too). I want to mention Shepard since he kept us entertained each morning while keeping the pool sparkling clean. He also picked us 4 coconuts when our friends mentioned they had never tried it. We also had a great time walking around and stopping in stores/bars and visiting with the "neighbors". We spent 3 hrs at South Pole just at the end of the drive and also walked to Smurfs for a few drinks and never once felt uneasy or out of place, in fact, we received "hey mon's" and waves along the way, very cool. We slept like babies every night to the sound of the ocean, some nights for 10 hrs...crazy! So that about sums it up, we enjoyed every bit of our stay at La Sirena and can't say enough about their warm, talented and down to earth staff. Also, a big Thank You to Rebecca and the Treasure tours team and to the residents of Treasure Beach for sharing their lives with us.
“Peaceful and welcoming, La Sirena is a treasure and has great st”
We felt very welcome from the minute we arrived and Ms. Ida (Mummy), Monica and Shepherd took great care of us for the duration of our stay. Collectively, they ensured that we were comfortable, without being obtrusive, and gave the impression that nothing was too much of an ask from them. The combination of a lovely villa, with good staff, makes for a great stay! Thank you.
Response from the manager Hello Rowena, So glad you and yoru guests enjoyed their stay. I look forward to hearing from you again and Ms. Ida, Monica and Shepherd will be pleased to have you stay/visit as well. :)
“A great spot in a relaxed environment”
We loved our week at La Sirena. We were two families with children ages 3-11. The pool is just steps from the living room and the beach is a short (2 minute?) walk from the house. The staff is very accommodating and kind. I'm ready to go back!
“Wonderful stay at La Sirena, Treasure Beach, Jamaica!”
Our family of four and two guests found a week to squeeze in a visit to Jamaica after our kids' college years ended and before summer commitments began. The kids were really in need of a place to just relax and unwind, and La Sirena fit the bill. It is located above the beach, with beautiful landscaping and views of the ocean and sunsets. A walk down a set of stairs gave access to the beach, with snorkeling right off the shore along a reef. There was plenty of room both inside and on the covered terrace next to the pool for us to lounge, play games, etc. But the best part of our stay was the staff for the villa. Miss Ida and Miss Monica prepared delicious meals for us, taking care to account for allergies of two of our guests. The care they took of us was personal and welcoming, going beyond just the cooking and cleaning we expected, and we grew quite fond of them over the week we spent there. It was great to try out authentic Jamaican dishes, and the desserts were yummy as well. Miss Ida's son, Shepard, the groundskeeper, also gave us helpful information about snorkeling and trips in the area. If you don't want to just relax, there are other diversions in the area. We had a nice trip out to the Pelican Bar, built on stilts over a sand bar a short distance off the coast. It looks like a cross of something you'd see from the musical South Pacific and Gilligan's Island! We also took the boat tour up the Black River, where we saw crocodiles and many types of birds, along with beautiful scenery and helpful commentary from our captain. The cost is about $18 per person for an hour trip...we really enjoyed it. We did not get to make the trip to YS Falls, which we read good things about, as it was closed the week we were there for a holiday. There is zip-lining there as well, so there are choices for more active types. We recommend the area as a great escape from the touristy resorts and a more authentic Jamaican experience.
“Relaxing, Private Beach Escape in Jamaica”
We came to La Sirena for our honeymoon and I can't speak highly enough of our experience. We wanted a place that would be relaxing, private and not overcrowded with noisy tourists, and La Sirena was exactly that. The house is very spacious and overlooks the beach from the patio, which has a small pool perfect for cooling off. The beach is just a minute walk down a little path, and we were the only people on the beach 90% of the time. Occasionally some local kids would walk by on their way to go fishing, but we essentially felt like we had the whole ocean to ourselves. The water isn't quite as clear as on the north side of the island, but it fulfilled our desire for turquoise Caribbean water nonetheless. The food that Miss Ida and Miss Monica made each day was amazing! My husband and I don't eat meat, only fish, and they cooked us some of the best meals we've had in our lives. Unlike most vacations, I actually lost a few pounds while we were there - probably because everything they made used fresh, local vegetables and fish. Most days we woke up early, went down to the ocean for a swim, then relaxed at the pool all afternoon, reading and talking. We did venture out to the unique Pelican Bar (the bar built on a sandbar in the middle of the ocean), which you can only get to by local speed boat - that was an adventure in itself! We also took a day trip to the appleton Rum Factory and YS Falls. At night, we swam in the pool and gazed up at the amazing view of the stars! What we loved most was the location - Treasure Beach is so laid back and non-touristy. We got to know many of the local people and had wonderful discussions with them about life and the world. We learned so much about their culture and history. The surroundings and people were truly as authentic as you could get.
“A beautiful house in a lovely spot with a top-notch staff”
We're a family of 4, and we have rented La Sirena twice - first in February of 2007 and then for Christmas week 2009. We've rented other villas in Treasure beach, but La Sirena is our favorite. We'll certainly go back again. A word about Treasure Beach, and Billy's Bay in particular - If you're looking for the resort life, with parasailing, golf, jet skis, buffets, singles bars... look somewhere else. Treasure Beach is low-key and slow-paced, and Billy's Bay is the sleepy end of town. (Which is not to say you don't hear music everywhere.) Anyway, about the house... The interior is spacious, airy and clean, with a Greek isles flavor. Each bedroom has its own full bath. 2 of the 3 bedrooms open onto the sea- front verandah, where we ate breakfast and lunch, and spent most of our time when we weren't out wandering the beaches or the village. The Verandah looks out onto the beautiful, well-tended garden, and beyond to the coastline and sea. The location is ideal -- just walk down a private stairway and you're on the beach. Yet the trees and garden render the house almost invisible, so it feels private. The beach at Billy's bay has rocky parts, but the area around La Sirena is sandy and perfect for swimming and snorkeling. And since there are only 7 houses along that 3/4-mile stretch, it never feels over- run. We were there for the busiest week of the year, and on the beach we saw three other families, an older couple, 8 or 10 local kids, and the two guys who run a little hut/beach bar. That's your teeming holiday crowd. The house is staffed by a mother-daughter team, Miss Ida and Miss Monica, they are top-notch cooks, great housekeepers, and wonderful people. They made and served breakfast and dinner each day - one amazing meal after another. They're warm, caring, witty women, and we've grown very fond of them. For a quiet vacation in a beautiful spot with great food and vibes, I highly recommend La Sirena.
