“Casa Vacanze Fregagio”
We stayed at the Casa Vacanze Fregagia in Manarola for 5 nights. We were 2 couples traveling together so we used both of the adjoining apartments in the Casa Vacanze Fregagia. Basic amenities, nothing fancy. We were prepared for the climb up to the apartment from the other reviewers, but it was so worth the effort. The 4 of us are all physically fit, it is not a destination for travelers with walking issues. The apartment consists of 2 separate adjoining rooms, perfect for 2 couples. One bedroom with bath and small kitchen with adjoining balcony and the other space was just a bedroom and bath with a balcony as well. Can be rented together or separately. The view from shared balcony was incredible. Unfortunately we were busy sightseeing so much we didn't enjoy the outdoor space at the apartment as much as we would have liked. The city of Manarola is the perfect choice in Cinque Terre, a few great restaurants, easy access to the train, quiet for sleeping at night and not too touristy. We took advantage of the incredible hiking trails, the highlight was the trek from Manarola up to Volastra and then down to Corniglia. A day I will never forget!! Can't wait to go back!!
We stayed at Casa Fregagia in June and had a very pleasant stay. Lots of steps as expected both up and then down to the apartment. Lucky we only had small cases! View was fabulous and it was wonderful watching life on the terraces opposite. Trattoria Dal Billy almost next door for a night out. Only downside is that if the end room is also rented and you have noisy people in there you would know about it, but otherwise no problem.
“Stunning views of the Cinque Terre's best town.”
We were more than happy with our stay in this room. Some minor hiccups as I'd written the address of the office wrong but the staff were all lovely and the room was in the perfect location, with lovely views and a great terrace. Manarola is quieter than the other towns with a nicer vibe, and we had a great view of the Easter lights on the hill. Billy's restaurant is also only a few steps from the room and provided the best seafood of our trip. It's a bit of a trek up the hill, but nothing too unmanageable. The room itself and bathroom were perfect.
“Lovely view, good price, small room”
For the price we could not complain about this room. The sliding doors in the room opened up to a lovely view of the water and city with a small patio to enjoy the sunsets. It was clean, secure and well maintained. The bedroom is very small but has good storage space. However we were never able to take a shower without lots of water leaking from the shower door. There was no towel service included so we used most of our towels cleaning up the floods. To get to the room one must climb quite a few stairs in the city of Manarola. We received no help in taking our baggage to the room. But once we were settled in we enjoyed the view and area where the room is located.
“Wonderful view, shabby if functional apartment”
Bedrooms If one is renting both bedrooms, a night table blocks passage between rooms and so one cannot close the door between the 2 rooms. The beds are reasonably comfortable for sleeping, the furniture a disparate set of leftovers, as one would find in a family cottage. Kitchen The best feature is the presence of a clothes washer. There are disparate dishes, pots and pans, but no bowls for cereal or soup. No scissors found, and ca jumble of mismatched cutlery. The cutlery was dirty. There are 2 badly scarred espresso pots, not fit for making decent coffee. The badly installed kitchen light hangs low bathroom 1 The bathrooms, while ostensibly "modern" are not particularly attractive. The shower has doors that both open with a touch and once can easily flood the floor. This is compounded by supposedly "modern" shower heads that take up much of the space in the shower. They are in the way, are useless and awkward. An overhead shower head and/or handheld would suffice. As it is, the awkward arrangement inveriably results in water flooding the floor. There is a worn mirror and shelf surface with an army of small ants. Similarly, this army of ants was present in the 2nd bedroom. Most unpleasant, the bathroom had a distinct urine smell, indicative of inadequate cleaning. The light above the mirror was burnt out and inadequate. A bathroom waste bin, a basic necessity, would have been useful. Lastly, the bathroom, just off the kitchen was in an awkward location, ensuring a lack of privacy. Wether up this is an issue would depend on the guests. Unsolicited entry There was an obvious unsolicited and unannounced entry by someone with keys during our stay. This is unacceptable. Wifi The free wifi is provided via an outside router which provides a non-existent signal within the apartment. The residence is unkempt with a jumble of furniture and objects just unkempt thrown together leftovers, without thought of practicalities or ergonomics.
Response from the manager It took me a while to answer because if some statements are sharable others are at least bizarre, some are simply false. We accept criticism if based on something real : for example the outside router now has been installed inside the House and the signal is full. The shower door has been repaired but the position of the the bathroom, just beside the kitchen is common and do not means lack of privacy, except for neurotics. The kitchen equippment is not made by disparate dishes, pots but a complete service for 4 people.Bowls are present. "a night table blocks passage between rooms" : there are also 2 doors in between. We consider it privacy. "Unsolicited entry" : changing towels and cleaning were required. In another site this exquisite guest writes "There are various toxic cleaning products under sink for cleaners" : yes we provide soups for hands and utensils because we suppose people are used to wash it.Evidently this is not always true. “Sunsets, Sunsets and Fabulous Views!”
We were in Italy to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We booked this property primarily for the private deck for sunset views and morning breakfasts. It was perfect! Exactly what we had seen in the photos. We drove to Manarola and arrived early, but was met promptly at the church by Stephano for check in. We were able to rent a garage for our car for an additional fee. Because we were already at the top of the town, the walk up to our apartment was very easy. The apartment was clean, well laid out and had everything we needed. Loved the location as we had sweeping views of the town below, the sea and only a few doors down from one of the best restaurants in Cinque Terre, Billy's. The staff we met at arbaspaa were friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend this property and look forward to a return visit to Manarola.
“The view was amazing”
We so enjoyed our stay at this cute little apartment. The one downside was the very unattractive entrance but once inside that was forgotten. The steps up we were aware do and coped with just fine. As our departure was before 7 am we elected to go down the longer way avoided the stairs with noisy luggage wheels. The best was our view from bedroom, kitchen and terrace. Spectacular sunsets and such peace.
We had a stunning stay in cinque terre, the flat was great, nice view, cute rooms and very good beds wich is important when you walk all day long , good welcome from the agency and Manarola very quiet to stay there.
The location is great and so is the welcome we received. The service was excellent and we were glad that a representative was with us when we entered our future space because the room had not been cleaned. So, we had to wait an hour while it was pouring rain outside. I was happy also that my husband is very good with his hands, the shower head was broken and he fixed it. Water was coming out like a fountain to the ceiling. That is probably why the paint is chipped. Our neighbour asked us to open the outside closet in front of the entrance door so he could have the internet since the metal door was blocking the reception from where he was. Also, we could hear the cries of the young children who were staying next door and all the conversations of the family until 2:00 a.m. The main entrance door could not be closed from the outside. We had to go out from the patio door to make sure that the main door was closed. We did not bothered anyone to repair, fix or adjust because the lady was alone at the reception desk. We recommend this property for people who are in an excellent shape. I'm 100% sure that nobody complained because their stay is very short and they don't have time to report what goes wrong. Rest and relaxation was a thing of the past for the two of us.
“Stunning view - highlight of entire Italy trip”
Stunning view well worth the effort to get there with a 20kg suitcase. Tip for next time: pack lighter Clean. Friendly staff.
