We had a great getaway, very peaceful and most relaxing location.
“An awesome island experience”
The design and layout of the resort gives Palm Island a remote island vibe. The surroundings are peaceful and beautiful. The residents were friendly, and the staff were helpful. The wedding was perfect in every way.
At night we could hear the rats in the walls. Vent in 2nd room was very dirty and made the room smell. Cockroach was next to refrig on the floor dead. Master bedroom shower was slow to drain. Staff was great.
Pros: The resort is a relaxing escape from the hectic real world. The property is nicely maintained and naturally preserved, the staff courteous and friendly, and resort restaurant had a nice selection of different foods. Our villa was simply decorated, but had everything we needed, including cookware and utensils. I would have liked to see a better selection of basic cooking spices, including cooking oil. The DVD selection was a nice touch that was offered. Cons: Our stay included a 2 day golf cart rental; after the first day, it was taken away sometime in the evening versus early morning without our knowledge. In addition, I would have liked the rental shop to have guests' credit card information on file instead of requesting to see a credit card prior to rental of golf carts, bikes, etc. I liked the convenience of using the guest villa pass to buy goods and snacks, and would like for it to be accepted at all shops on the properties. In addition, we had trouble with the DVD player. There were no problems with watching television, but when the dvd player was turned on, we were unable to watch our movies. I am sure that the problem could have been easily resolved with a quick phone call to guest services. Overall, looking forward to next visit for sure.
“For Beach/Nature Lover's ONLY”
Our family had an AMAZING time at Palm Island- BECAUSE we are nature lovers! We had manatees swimming within 3 feet of us in the ocean, dolphins swimming under our kayaks, caught crabs, and live conchs, had run ins with armadillos and golpher tortoises. The island is beautiful and our villa was lovely as well. HOWEVER do NOT be fooled- there are no activities planned during your stay there. The island ONLY has 5 kayaks for rent (they were booked the entire weekend we were there. The one restaurant on the island closed by 9PM (we just made it after watching the beautiful west coast sunset) and the water taxi to the mainland restaurant stops returning to palm island by 8:15. So, unless you LOVE the beach and nature- this is not the place to do as there is NOTHING else on the island to occupy your time.
“Nice Quite Beautiful Island and Beach”
Our stay was great the island was beautiful and the condo was nice, right on the beach. The pool was great also, but a little walk. The only headache was that our condo was switched out of under us at the last minute, we were givin an "ungraded" condo but it wasn't.
“Beautiful but unreliable/dishonest”
Hi. We loved your property but had a very upsetting experience with reservations. We were traveling with another family and were promised to be staying next to them, and assured it was marked "Do not move" in the reservation. I checked an additional two times, including the day before our travels. We have 6 kids between the two families that planned on running back and forth between the villas, and the fact that we could have side by side villas guaranteed was the main reason we settled on Palm Island. When we got there, the other family had been moved and we were given one excuse after another as to why it happened. The other family, the Macleods, were then placed in another building but we were told that the units were still beside each other (each on the end of their respective buildings). This too was not true. We were very angry and I don't know that we'd return, since your reservation staff can not be held to their word. Oh, as a consolation, we were given free cocktail vouchers, which I did not feel adequately made up for your mistake.
“Great getaway for families with kids under 12 or for people that”
Like any vacation, you need to think about what you expect. This spot is perfect for the quieter getaway with enough amenities to be convenient, but without the pace and plethora of options that can be distracting. We had 9- ages 2-60- did a massive shopping before arriving on the island, and never had to (nor wanted to leave). Close heated pool, grill, easy access to a walkable beach was all we needed.
“Units are in poor condition”
While some of the units are in good condition, others are poorly maintained. in particular, most of the mattresses are really in need of being replaced!
