“Great multi-family home”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

We stayed in this house with 3 families & kids. The house has a great layout for multiple families, you don't feel like you are stepping on each other. Everyone had their own space for sleeping & lounging. The bathrooms were large & accomodating for kids baths & adult showers. Kitchen & pantry had ample space, we cooked in or Bbq'd every night. Large 2 car garage, we stored bikes & golf clubs in. Only downside was the dishwasher was in/out of service & the kitchen sink was leaking. The maintenance crew was very helpful. This house is close to the pool... however the pool is being completely renovated so there is no pool within walking distance! Big bummer for us with small kids... no one mentioned this to us so make sure and ask if the pool is open.

“great for a large group”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

this is our 2nd time staying at Sm027. Pros: It was great for our 3 family group. we liked that there were 3 bedrooms for the adults and a bunkroom for the younger kids. Older kids slept on the couch in the loft. there was lots of privacy as well as sound isolation. The kitchen was well stocked, (but bring your own lidded storage containers). Cons: The weather was quite hot (95 every day) and the house got very heated up even though we closed the windows and shades prior to leaving for the day. The biggest issue was that every bedroom really needs to have it's own fan to use once the outside temps are lower than the inside temps. This house has only 1 fan available. Also the downstairs bedroom has no operable windows, making it almost impossible to cool. The attached bathroom has 2 windows, but it was very hard to cool the bedroom at night unless you sleep with the bedroom door open wide to the public spaces. If the owners were to get 3 more fans (1 for each bedroom) and make a window in the master bedroom operable it would be great. Wifi would also be a benefit as there is only a cable modem (1 person at a time can use the internet). Grill is a little iffy.

“Spacious but in disrepair”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2013

The house is for sale and it seems the owners are done spending money on upkeep. It was built on the cheap and it's not holding up well to rental traffic. The barbecue is a joke - cheap, dirty, hot spots, almost useless. Vinyl everywhere, peeling wood trim, light bar in upstairs powder area with entire light fixture missing and electric tape 'X' over the hole, pulls on cupboards falling out/cockeyed. The bunk beds are falling apart (screws coming out of upper retaining rails, etc), the garage was dirty, nasty, stained scrap carpet as door mat. The upstairs rooms have skylights and windows without shades so like it or not, the sun is beaming in at 4:30am during the summer. The stereo has two speakers in the living room only and only accepts the older version iPod or iPhone connection. No aux in. No wireless internet (glad I noticed this and brought my own wi-fi router from home). The kitchen sink faucet broke the second day we were there and leaked water all over the kitchen. We had repair guys at our place a couple days and housekeeping showing up with mountains of towels to dry things up. The BBR agent who helped us book this place also sold the easy access to the South Meadow Pool since we wanted to be able to walk with our 4 year old and under kids. Turns out the pool was closed for construction. Oops, minor detail. Bbr is a fantastic place and this home may be a good fit for you as long as your expectations are set appropriately. We've decided to look for another home next time we visit.

“Great family vacation!”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2012

We stayed at this house with extended family in august. The house was big enough to accommodate all our different needs. We had 3 families and 11 people. 2 masters was great. We even had a needier kid sleep in the walk-in closet in the upstairs room- the closet was that big. The kitchen was really well stocked, a wonderful deck and there was a garage for us to store our bikes. The only thing lacking in this house was a lot of operable windows- we like to sleep with a breeze. The downstairs master did not have any operable windows. There are a few fans (stored in the closets) that we used and we also used the long extension rod to open the skylights. It was ok, but not great. Note: There is no Wifi in this house, but there is a cable that you can plug a laptop into. We would be very happy to stay at Black Butte Ranch again.

Response from the manager Thank you for commenting about your previous stay with us. Just as a follow up, we would like to clarify that the unit does have free wireless internet throughout the home that you have access to once given a password upon check-in. We would love to have you stay with us again! Best Regards, Black Butte Ranch Management

“Great house for a large group!”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2012

We rented South Meadow 27 for a wedding at Black Butte, and had 12 guests staying together. It was ideal for our group. Everyone had plenty of room to cook, play, get ready for events, socialize, and you could even get some privacy if needed. The outdoor space/deck was spectacular, and we loved having a barbecue, a nice big pantry for our shared food stuffs, and the built-in sound system for our iPods was quite handy as well. Fantastic house!

“Disappointed!”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2012

After years of wonderful BB rentals, this house didn't meet our expectations. Spiders and bugs were our constant companions...inside the house. Really needs to be exterminated! The two other areas of dissatification were the beds and kitchen equipment. All of our guests rose after the first night and complained about how hard their bed was. Last but not least, the kitchen was poorly stocked for serving a family. No serving bowls, bakeware, etc. Sorry Black Butte, this rental was a failure!

Response from the manager So sorry to hear this house wasn't a good fit for you, and for the troubles with spiders. The home has been inspected by an exterminator, the report turned up 5 dead common house spiders and as a precaution we also had the house treated. Being in the woods we do experience spiders and bugs around our properties from time to time during the summer months. The owner is reviewing a plan to replace the beds and adding to the standard inventory of kitchen supplies. Thank you again for your feedback it helps us understand what our guests need most from their rental vacations.

“Beautiful spot, changing weather”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2012

We had 8 family members in 4 BRs in Sm27. The family area was nice, some carpets needed cleaning, Kitchen was adequately supplied. Some of us enjoyed the golf courses. Staff was very courteous, considering our overall family reunion amounted to over 90 people. We loved the location of the central Cascades, hiking, and even the rain (and hail).

“Summer in 09”

We stayed at the South Meadow 27 location in August for an extended weekend with 3 other couples. The house was more than adequate for our needs. Black Butte actually upgraded us to this home at no additional charge as our original rental property had some repair issues. This place has a great deck area, hammock in the back and a large gather area off of the kitchen for large group. We would recommend staying there again.

“Perfect for family gathering”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2009

This was our second year at SM 027 and we are planning on returning next year. Perfect place for our three families, (6 adults, 4 kids 7 to 1 1/2) Each family had their own "suite" with enough public space to let everyone do their own thing. Kitchen is incredibly well stocked with enough space for 4 or 5 cooks.

“A Great Vacation Retreat”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2009

I personally did not stay there but eight members of our family [three adults and five children] spent a week there during our Family Reunion[in 2008 as well as 2009]. They report to me that this is the perfect spot for them: nicely away from all traffic; warm user-friendly layout and facilities; ample private deck; convenient to Glaze Meadow Recreation facilities; easy ingress and egress to the Ranch from Rte. 20. They have requested that I reserve it again for the 2010 Reunion!
