“All around awesome experience”
We stayed at Stef Surf for 5 days and have only good things to say. The condo was modern and well equipped and the pool and lush surroundings really made for a great atmosphere. The location, in the middle of a residential community one minute walk from the beach is very convenient but most importantly Greg and Gladys were amazing hosts and really made the vacation phenomenal by recommending lots of great beaches, restaurants and tours in the area. Definitely ask them to set you up with their friend Haime for a great guided tour on the Nicoya river.
We loved every minute of our stay at Stef Surf. Greg and Gladys were wonderful hosts the entire time. They had wonderful recommendations for things to do and places to eat (Totally on point). Thanks so much for making our vacation wonderful despite the little issue we had.
“Keeps getting better”
I've often found it hard to describe Stef Surf to people, it's not really a house, calling it a condo is not fair to it, after the past trip I decided it's your own resort. Nobody is handing you towels or making food for you, but it's a wonderful space with gorgeous pool, places to linger, eat etc.. It's our second time going, and it was if anything better. You don't have to look far to find an adventure, zip lines, surfing, sailing, hot springs, or you can walk down the block have a sunset swim then meander down the beach for a great seaside dinner. Or do nothing, just read a book by the pool, grill some red snapper on the grill. Our kids will remember the trip forever. We rented 3 units and had other family with us, everyone had their own space but kids would walk in their PJ's to grandmas for breakfast. Maybe one of the best vacations we've ever had.
“Great time in this beautiful and relaxful place”
We had a great time spending 4 days relaxing, swimming and visiting the various beach around this place. We discovered nice restaurants on the beach. The decoration of the condo is very nice and the garden/pool is beautiful with luxurious tropical vegetation. The whole family wants to go back!
“Fabulous vacation rental!”
This place is amazing. Great condo, beautiful setting, great caretakers. It really has everything you'd need in a vacation rental. Pros: Great shaded pool that cools you down, cause it is seriously hot in Guanacaste! The house is amazing, our kids kept on saying it was way nicer than our actual home :) it was spotless and had everything we could ever wish for. Fabulous caretakers always helpful and smiling. Short walk to the beach. Short walk to our favorite hangout, Coconut Beachclub! Kid friendly, our 7 and 9 yrs old loved it! The balcony off the main bedroom was our little oasis. It was perfect to sip a glass of wine at night looking over the abundant garden vegetation (kudos to the owners as the rest of Guanacaste seemed dry and brittle). Filtered water from the fridge. Cons: Beach isn't the prettiest, dark sand clouds the water so it's always murky. We just drove yo other beaches, our favorites were Playa Azucar and Playa Danta\Dantita at Las Catalinas. We had a family with 4 children in the condo next to ours that were out of control. Of course this isn't the owner's fault, but be aware that while most renters are lovely, you might get stuck with less considerate neighbours at times. Thankfully, they only stayed 4 nights. Payment for the house was the big drawback for us. Only way to secure the home was through a bank transfer that was costly (35$) and time consuming (we had to go to the CIBC bank 3 times to get the payment through). Paypal or email transfers would be so much easier and secure. All in all, fabulous 5* stay, would highly recommend!
“Beach lover's paradise”
My husband and I traveled to Costa Rica for our honeymoon, and after a night in San Jose we drove across the country to Stef Surf in El Delfin. Stef Surf was absolutely perfect. The condo was beautiful! We loved the large open space and especially enjoying morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the gardens below. From the moment I inquired about Stef Surf, Greg and Gladys went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. Greg and Gladys gave us several recommendations for the local food we really enjoyed Las Brisas and the macadamia nut pancakes at a small eatery close by. Greg and Gladys really helped us feel at home and shared their local wisdom of the area. We rented a car and really enjoyed that Stef Surf was not in a large condominium complex but conveniently located near many restaurants and beaches. During our stay at Stef Surf Gladys helped us book a snorkling cruise with Panache which was wonderful! The boat was roomy, unlimited drinks and a small dinner was included. We got to enjoy a beautiful sunset from the boat, so even if you don't snorkel the sailboat ride is a great experience. We visited playa penca, playa flamingo, and playa dante. We loved them all, but if we had to choose playa dante was probably our favorite. We had breakfast there on the beach and spent a couple days paddle boarding. I cannot say enough good things about our accommodations at Stef Surf and the hospitality of Greg and Gladys. I only wish we could have stayed longer, and I hope we can return soon!
“A relaxing oasis with countless beaches nearby.”
Stef Surf is perfectly located close to numerous beaches and a variety of interesting restaurants. If you choose to have an active day exploring the nearby beaches, it is a relaxing oasis to come home to. Or, if you simply choose to stay at Stef Surf for the day, the complex is lush with year round growth thanks to an extensive watering system. With only four units, it is never overcrowded with excessive guests. We felt very secure at Stef Surf, and found all of our food supplies at the Super Wendy, a 3 minute walk away. Don't miss a dinner (or breakfast!!!) at The Shack, especially when they have live music.
“Paradise in Costa Rica”
My family spent 7 nights at Stef Surf and it was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The condos are beautiful and well maintained, very safe and relaxing environment. Greg and Gladys were also there during our time there, they were very helpful with advice on restaurants, sightseeing and are great fun to hang out with. Beach, grocery, restaurants all within walking distance. We went surfing in Playa Grande, zip lining on the Congo trail, and went on a river boat tour. We loved all of it. Food in Costa Rica is excellent, everything is fresh and tasty. We are already planning to go back again next year.
“Great Location - Great Value”
We had an awesome visit to Costa Rica and would highly recommend staying at Stef Surf if you visit. The property in general was beautiful, well maintained and felt very very safe. The condo was spacious and cool and a great place to hang out. Very comfortable. Location was awesome. Short drives to many beaches along the Pacific Coast and several beaches and restaurants within walking distance. Greg and Gladys were warm and easy going and had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We especially appreciated the bar and pool at the nearby Bahia Del Sol, which welcomed guests to use their facilities and hang out. We could get the "waited on" experience for a day or two without having to stay at a hotel. Loved the community/town and the people were so friendly. That carried over to the condo. Felt very private with only three other condos, but lounging at the pool gave a chance to talk to others staying there. Worth a visit...you will be happy you did.
“Stef Surf and Sun!”
Recently spent a wonderful week at Stef Surf. The location of the property was perfect for exploring the area and a great start point for excursions. Greg and Gladys the owners of one of the units are very helpful and will steer you to all the right spots for dinners and fun in the area. Stef Surf is modern clean and a nice tropical oasis to relax after a day in the sun. We loved our Costa Rica vacation!
