“Very friendly stimulating and relaxing and a day spent cooking w”
Frankly we were not sure what to expect. After 12 days staying at their self contained extremely comfortable "barn" with all the amenities one could want we felt we had had a magical stay.Of course its a wonderful base for exploring that part of Normandy including Mont- St- Michel Bayeux and the WW2 beaches. What was special however was the charm of the hostess Sinead and her friendly husband Phillipe . the feeling of family and a truly great day learning to cook an excellent 3 course Normandy dinner from shopping at a village market in the morning cooking under Sinesd,s supervision in her first class kitchen in her Manor house in the afternoon and eating the wondrous outcome in a dinner with her husband and young daughters that night. We felt we had become friends not only with the allart family but also with Tom the cat, and Tara and Gina the friendly pet dogs!
Response from the owner Many thanks Ross and Suzie - keep cooking up a storm down under! xx
“Peaceful & Cosy...”
As part of my business trips, when I have to go to Normandy, I am used to stay at La Blonderie. This place was recommended to me by a colleague, and now La Blonderie is definitely the place where I prefer to stay and where I feel best. Sinéad is very welcoming and warm, and she cares about the well being of her guests. She is always available and gives good advices concerning good restaurants not to be missed, or concerning interesting places to visit in the region. She has decorated the guest rooms and the cottage with great taste, and she has thought of every detail to ensure the comfort of her guests. Moreover, the place is very charming and close to nature. In the morning, when I go to work, I particularly appreciate the view, which seems to have been taken from a fairytale, as you can see a beautiful white horse in the field, standing in the middle of the morning mist... And in the evening, when I go back from work, and when it is already dark, I look up and I admire the beautiful starry sky, which will delight fans of astronomy! When I go to Normandy, although I am far from home, staying at La Blonderie is like feeling a little at home...

“Cooking Class in Normandy”
This was one of the most unique experiences we have had in travelling and we have travelled the world for 30 years. Sinead is a great teacher and a most interesting person and her family is adorable. My husband is not a cook and he so enjoyed the 3 days we spent at La Blonderie. The market experience and unique bread baking experience also enhanced the trip. Thank you Sinead and family. Lori and Mike
Response from the owner Thank you sooo much for such a great review! Sinéad and co.xx
“Easter - Normandy 2012”
This was our second visit for my husband and I. Hopefully not our last. The welcome received from Sinead and her delightful family makes a visit to La Blonderie a must, for us, when we are planning a visit to France. From our first meeting we felt completely at home. This time we brought our grown up daughter and would love to return with other members of our family. Sinead and Philippe allart have created something special and they work very hard to ensure their guests enjoy the best of the area. In the past we stayed in the self catered gite but this time my husband and I had le Porte Bleue and our daughter was very happy in the Maids Room - all very comfortable accomodations. La Blonderie is well placed to visit the D-Day Landing beaches for those with an interest in WW2 history - for those whose interest is in medieval history there is much to see in the area as well. There are food markets in the surrounding villages where the food is local and seasonal if a visit to La Blonderie includes some cooking - something I would recommend because Sinead makes the classes informative and fun. The countryside is beautiful and I hope its not too long before we can enjoy this little part of the world again.
Response from the owner Thanks Marionne - Sinéad and co. x
“Relaxing and peaceful”
We stayed on a self catering basis at La Blonderie in December 2011. We were a group of seven men - extended family all over 40 so maybe a group difficult to please!! However for Sinead this was no problem. The accommodation was very comfortable with everything that we needed provided. Breakfast was excellent all with fresh produce. Sinead gave us excellent information on the locality and made reservations for us for dinner at a local restaurent which was also excellent. We were on a wine/cider buying expedition and Sinead's local knowledge was very helpful. Sinead was there when we needed anything and also very important she was not there when we wanted our own space. We all agreed that La Blonderie can be highly recommended.
“A beautiful holiday experience you will not get anywhere else!”
There was something for everyone in family. I really enjoyed the market and finding unusual herbs. The cookery was a lovely experience.I learned a lot and I am still enjoying making the fish stew and apricot pie and lots more! My husband enjoyed the cycling around the local area and swimming in the nearby beaches. My daughter loved the horse riding and even went go-carting! I highly recommend staying here, you get to experience Sinead and her lovely family, in beautiful surroundings, gorgeous gites, and wonderful food and wine.
Response from the owner Thanks Geraldine - the pleasure was ours'! Sinéad
“La Belle France”
My husband and sister enjoyed a wonderful stay at Le Blonderie, tucked away in a beautiful corner of France in the real French countryside - our host Sinead is so warm and friendly and a wonderful cook while Le Blonderie itself is set in gorgeous countryside near the sea, markets, unspoilt villages, and some famous spots not far away if the tourist mode comes upon you. But the best part is just the beauty of the farmhouse buildings accommodation, the peace, the gracious hosts and local french shopkeepers, artisans, cafe owners, etc... a little piece of France in a wonderful corner of Normandy. Parfait!
Response from the owner Merci - thanks for your very kind review! Sinéad
“Delightful sojourn en-route Cherbourg”
Having spent most of our last day of holiday driving from arcachon (l'aquitaine), we found ourselves in a magical place where we were greeted by the warmest of welcomes. "Cead mile failte". Accommodation was stylish yet cozy and Sinead recommended a beautiful local beach where we enjoyed the most relaxing final hours of our vacation. A lovely breakfast to send us on our way, we left longing to return again, our only regret that we were just passing through. A real find, and a great credit to the lovely owners. (struggling to get star rating recorded.. It was perfect!)
Response from the owner Thanks Maria
“Great cooking food/french experience with an amazing host”
I wish we had organised a few extra day at the WildeKitchen cooking school, as while the cooking was terrific, the school terrific, we fell in love with the area and so a couple of extra days to look around would have been marvellous! Sinead Wilde is the best host - so much fun, and full of knowledge about Norman food and cooking. We had a ball.
Response from the owner Thanks Christine and co. We really enjoyed having you here - the pleasure was entirely ours'! Sinéad
Stayed here while researching my father's war experiences. We loved this place, the welcome, the surroundings, and the owners could not have been more helpful. We are recommending it to everyone we know, and will surely come again.
Response from the owner Thanks John, we thoroughly enjoyed having you both here and listening to all your amazing stories!
