“Fun country escape”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2013

We had a wonderful weekend in the hill country. We played, took the horse ride, cooked and even took a dip in the pool.

“Trail ride with Jim”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2013

It's been about a year since we've been to Quiet Hill Ranch. We were staying at a nearby B&B; and wanted to ride horses. Quiet Hill Ranch was "just up the road a piece." My wife and I got there, where Jim met us and saddled us up. Our horses were gentle and well-mannered. Jim took us out on the property and showed us some breath-taking views. He gave us some local history and shared his faith with us along the way. We prayed together at the end of the ride, thanking God for an hour to relax, surrounded by His beautiful creation, in the company of His children. It made our stay in Fredericksburg extra special.

Response from the owner Greetings Sharon & Joe, I remember the ride very well!!! It was a special time for me as well. Need to inform you that we offer 'Lil Dude Trailrides' for ages 4-12. If you & Sharon are ever in the area, stop by for a cup of coffee & a catchup visit. Pray all is well with your ministry!!!

“Nice and relaxing”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2013

Very nice and clean. Had everything we needed there. Thanks for everything. Jim and Cindy were some of the nicest people I've met. Thanks again.

Response from the owner Cindy and I were so pleased that your family enjoyed the country after all. For some city folks it can be a bit unnerving be so isolated from the trappings of civilization (if that's what you want to call it:) Thank you for your pleasant words & Y'all c'mon back now...y'hear!!!

“Another great stay.”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2013

This was our sixth stay at Quiet Hill Ranch and it gets better each time. Cindy and Jim, the owners, always make our stay so enjoyable and we are looking forward to returning in 2014. Many thanks to both of you.

Response from the owner Mary and Dave are our most favorite guests (and that's saying a lot). Although we are separated by thousands of miles/kilos, you remain close in our hearts. Can't wait to see what God brings to your visit in the way of birds & weather next spring.

“Great Texas Birding”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2013

Quiet Hill Ranch is a perfect place to experience the Texas hill country and to observe many interesting birds. We went for the birding, which was excellent, but enjoyed the local culture and food as well. Our hosts were very helpful about directing us to activities and restaurants.

Response from the owner We know it is quite a leap of faith to reserve a place, sight unseen, over 2000 miles from home. We are so glad you enjoyed the birding and our little piece of Texas. We appreciate your encouraging words...Great guests such as y'all are always welcome back.

“Like Coming Home”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2013

Once again, my Wife and I decided to return to our favorite vacation spot at Quiet Hill Ranch. The drive into this lovely place is calm and serene with abounding beauty. The rustic environment when you arrive is perfect if you want to just sit back, relax, and enjoy what Texas is all about. It takes you back to a time when life was simple, yet fulfilling. There are no words that can describe the calmness that you feel when you sit on the front porch of your own private cabin and observe the beauty that Texas Hill Country has to offer. Jim and Cindy are wonderful, respectful, and kind people that make you feel like you are part of their family. If you want a perfectly quiet, nostalgic, and private romantic getaway with an old west feel...well, partner, put on your boots, get in your truck, and high tail it over to Quiet Hill Ranch to take in the true Texas countryside. Thanks Jim and Cindy. You know we'll be back.

Response from the owner Melissa & William...WOW...what a terrific review. Your words not only capture the meaning and purpose which Quiet Hill seeks to fulfill, but also causes Cindy & I to be humbled by such high praise. THANK Y'ALL!!! Maybe next time y'all come the weather will a lil' more favorable to riding your motorcycle:)

“Quiet. Great birding. Lots of stars!”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2013

We loved our stay at Quiet Hill Ranch. Careful directions and a warm welcome. We had the lodge to ourselves since we were there during the week. Cooking areas are ample and places for the different cabins are clearly marked. I'm not sure how easy the kitchen sharing would be if all cabins were full. Our cabin (#1) was great for two. It would have been O.K. for two adults and two children. I think four adults would feel crowded and six really crowded. Great get-away place for a couple though. Birding place was well thought out and comfortable. We will definitely return.

Response from the owner It was a pleasure to host two of the spunkiest ladies we have had the pleasure of hosting at Quiet Hill Ranch...It is such an encouragement to see y'all still going strong at what many would call 'advanced ages'. WAY TO GO... It is a delight to us that the lodge's large kitchen (two gas stoves-triple sink-lots of counter space-prep table) has proven to be suitable even when all the cabins are occupied. We thank you for your thoughtful comments and loving your stay while here. You will definitely be a 'happy sight to see' whenever you are able to come back to Quiet Hill!!!

“Great spring break”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

The ranch is a great place for families. There's a large common cabin with a huge kitchen along with a dining room/living room with a stone fireplace, They have a great pool for warmer weather and the views are far to the north since all cabins sit on a east-west running ridge. The horses are gentle. The donkey is far too smart and will snack on anything you leave out. He seems to prefer junk food. The owners are wonderful people. This year we tried the local grocery store, which really serves some of the best food I've had in years.

Response from the owner It was so good to see y'all again & again & again...:-) It truly blesses our hearts to know there are children who still enjoy the simple ranch life we are able to share...Keep up the great work with them...As the old saying goes, 'The nuts don't fall far from the tree'. We look forward to seeing y'all even more on down the road.

“Fabulous Hill Country Location”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

We loved our stay at the Quiet Hill Ranch. It is a peaceful getaway with easy access to many Hill Country locations. The cabin was comfortable with a nice bathroom. We loved having the firepit to make smores. The main lodge is stocked with anything you could need should you want to cook. The owners were very friendly and welcoming (as are the horses). We could have sat in the bird blind all day. Such a fascinating and unique feature--so much so that it encouraged us to set up a birding area in our backyard once we got home. We highly recommend Quiet Hill Ranch and would definately stay there again.

Response from the owner Thank you-thank you-thank you!!! Your kind words are so welcome and encouraging to Cindy and Jim (plus all the critters too:). We are happy your time away was refreshing. We, once again, are amazed and blessed by the people God brings into our lives...Y'all come back now, ya hear:) P.S. There's some tricks to making a welcoming bird spa. Don't hesitate to holler if we can help...

“A truly authentic Texas Ranch experience!”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2013

Our family had a great 3-night stay at the Quiet Hill Ranch in March 2013. Our kids (9 & 5 years old) really enjoyed the Lil' Dudes trail ride with our host Jim, and they loved interacting with the animals. The views are amazing, the cabins are quaint and clean and the lodge is fantastic. I'd highly recommend the Quiet Hill Ranch for anyone desiring a getaway to nature, the countryside and the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Response from the owner Hi Jim, WELCOME to TEXAS Y'ALL...We enjoyed your spunky family. I realize that Texas is very different than your old home in Wisconsin. One of the greatest assets that Texas has is it's ability to attract great people...and your family is a great example of the pluck and determination that has characterized Texans from the very beginning. Once again, thank you for your review and for spending your time and treasure with us here at Quiet Hill Ranch!!!
