“Definitively our family dreamed vacations”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2016

We planned our vacation a year in advance. We contacted Alex via e-mail and the response time with him was excellent. He answered all our questions by e-mail, text or phone calls. He always was accessible. For most of the group was our first time in Culebra. We were a family group of 15 people, adults, youth and children. We find the location of the property excellent with no noise and great to rest. The property is very comfortable, spacious, with a rustic touch, very welcoming and is in good condition. It is fully equipped. The sheets and towels were clean and fragrant. Kitchen equipment and utensils in good condition (although the oven requires an upgrade). The outdoor kitchen is great. One night we made a BBQ dinner outdoor and the table arrangements, lighting, music, the view, and the moon made our gathering and dinner a special one. Definitively a memorable family night! We had problems with internet access and Alex resolved the issue on the same day. The only thing we did not like is that rooms are very dark and the lighting in the room is too dim (tenuous). Another thing to improve is that needs to renew the twin mattresses. All of us are very delighted with the beauty and peaceful of Villa Pelicano and are already planning when to return to the paradise of Culebra and stay at Villa Pelicano. Thanks Alex.

“Great place for a large group getaway”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2014

Our family spent a few days in Villa Pelicano on the summer of 2014 and already booked the villa for next year. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Alex, the owner, who showed us around. The cleaning crew had just finished leaving the place spotless for us. Villa Pelicano is ideal for large groups. There is plenty of space inside and outside for people to sit, hang out and relax either together or a little more spread out. The rooms were comfortable and the AC worked perfectly. Having Wi-Fi Internet access was definitely a blessing. The washer and dryer were also an added bonus and they worked perfectly. We used the fully equipped kitchen inside and the outdoor kitchen as well. The outdoor kitchen is also equipped and has a fridge which was very convenient for us. The outdoor spaces are my favorite areas of Villa Pelicano. There are hammocks hanging all around for your afternoon napping pleasure. On the first night we hung out on one of the decks grilling steaks, drinking piña coladas and listening to music. On our second night we had dinner at the Dinghy Dock. If you visit Culebra, by all means go there for lunch or dinner. The food is great and you can feed your leftovers to the fish that hang out by the dock. A big plus for us was being able to dock our boat at the villa's private pier. Kayaking in the bay was great and I am so happy that we had kayaks available to us included with our stay. It would be awesome if Alex adds a couple of paddleboards to that collection. Culebra is an amazing magical place. Its beaches are second to none and the vibe of the island is something to experience. I highly recommend Villa Pelicano and can't wait to go back next summer.

“Living in Paradise”

The stay in this wonderful property was special in many ways. For me and my wife it was a relaxing and pleasant experience. For our daughters and their husbands was an exiting adventure visiting beautiful beaches in our boat and kayaking in the afternoon to a private and wonderful beach. For our granddaughters it was the perfect place for exploring and playing. So they have something different and exiting for every taste and age. We recommend without reserves this place for the vacation of your life.

“Spacious villa enticing you to explore every opportunity that Culebra offers”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2014

I miss most my morning coffee from the outdoor kitchen overlooking the glistening bay, thinking what the day would hold for me. The villa is laid out perfectly. My wife and I had the master BR with bathroom ensuite, two daughters had their own bedrooms, and our son his own completely seperate apartment with his girlfriend. The open plan kitchen spilling into the grand living area was exactly what you would want to use to cook, serve and enjoy the family. The indor/ outdoor flow is ideal as it allows easy use of a great deal of space, views and 5 hammocks all in sun and shade. We had Chef Carlos cook for us in the outdoor kitchen and we ate on the large patio - a very memorable experience! Geographically, the villa is ideally located. Very close to the center of town but far enough removed to negate all traffic and bar noise. You are situated at the end of a long remote driveway. As the 6 beautiful beaches we saw are scattered along the periphery of the island, the central location was key, never more than a 20 minute ride to any of them - in a slow golf cart. The water access is wonderful, kayaking and swimming are right at your dock. Also, along the driveway, at another dock, is Captain Bill's catamaran. For an over-the-top experience try his Day Tour, We all had an unbelievable adventure on the island but we saved his excursion for our last day, As I said, over-the-top! Gracias Bill. We were lucky enough to meet Alex, the gracious owner. He is a memorable character full of useful recommendations, notes and advice. His company was enjoyed by my whole family. He is iconic on the island, and his name and Villa do generate you some swag. Most importantly, before, during and after our stay he was very prompt with returning calls to assure a most pleasant stay. He returned my wife's call almost immediately to inquire about art for sale on the island. He called to advise us on the night of the "Super Moon' to be sure not to miss. We saw and compared many places on the island during the week we stayed. For a larger party this Villa is hands-down the best place to stay. Enjoy!.

Our extended family stayed four nights. The patios and hammocks, the dock, and especially the outdoor kitchen provided comfortable and very pretty places to spend time together outdoors. The large common room--kitchen, dining, living room-- upstairs is a beautiful space, and the master bedroom is spacious and very private. The kitchen is thoroughly supplied --we made wonderful meals as easily as if we were at home. Having the kayaks available was great. Alex is most accommodating and helpful. All in all, it was a wonderful treat for us, and I hope to be able to return some day.

“Excellent Stay”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2014

We stayed at the Villa Pelicano with our family for a week and can't say enough good things about the property. Location, accommodations, management all excellent. The property is private with two kitchens, one indoors and the other outdoors. We spent 85% of the time at the outdoor kitchen where we enjoyed the scenery overlooking the water and of course cooked lots of meals. Well worth it, thanks Alex!

“The perfect family tropical vaction spot”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2014

We could not have asked for a better location for our long weekend trip. We are a family of 6. In addition to my wife and I, 2 are teenage girls, plus a 6 year old boy and a 4 year girl. Finding a spot that meets everyone's wishes, especially the one who is footing the bill is no easy task. We came over from Fajardo on our 28' power boat and really appreciated the dock. It was comfortable for docking, had plenty of depth, and was in great condition. Best of all it was right in front of our villa. It's a new boat, so I loved being able to look at it from the kitchen terrace in such a beautiful setting. A site almost as beautiful as seeing my kids on the dock looking at the little fish swimming around. The setting was perfect for us as we spent our days boating and driving around in the rented Jeep. We did not want a stuffy resort setting and loved the kitchen and dinning areas integration with the "Great Out Doors" We will be back ASAP!!

“Views of the Water! Hammocks, Kayaks, Best Outdoor Kitchen!”

We had the best time at Villa Pelicano! The property is gorgeous, full of foliage, water views; truly a great space to relax and unwind. The owner, Alex Carbonell, is incredibly helpful, friendly, and full of wonderful stories about Culebra. We look forward to returning with other friends and making use once again of this unique and beautiful villa!

““Location! Location! Location!””

Reviewed 30 Mar 2014

We have been vacationing in Culebra for 30 years and came across Vila Pelicano several years ago while looking for lodging for a larger group than we normally a action with. This past February was our second time. Both times, we spent most our time outdoors in the kitchen/patio/dining area. You can't beat it. So comfortable! Add to that, kayaks for exploring a dock to sit and enjoy the gentle breeze and not far from Town. Great for a large group with room to spread out.
