“Nice except for a couple of things”
In general this is an OK place to stay and the price is good: good wifi, English TV options, great 25m pool, adequate gym. Some things I did not like: Noise: The double glass patio doors in the bedroom are old single pane glass doors and loose, resulting in a fair amount of noise in the bedroom - a new St Regis is under construction next door so there is a lot of heavy construction noise. Additionally, being on a low floor, the 8th, you can hear the traffic from Rajdamri Road, which can be busy during commute hours. Odors: A fair amount of insecticides are used in the building hallways, which smells you can smell (but not in the unit). In the unit, there was a fairly strong mold/mildew odor. It would go away after opening the patio doors and running the a/C on high. A few times during the late afternoon and evening, a sewage odor would develop in the bathroom and come into the living room. I notified the owner, maintenance looked at it, but ultimately did not solve it. The living area is dark - the only windows are in the bedroom. The bed - it's definitely on the firm side, which may or may not be to your liking. A/C - they work, but are old, and can make a fair amount of fan noise. There was mold around the air intake.
Response from the owner The construction of the St Regis begins 9am and end 5pm weekdays only---They are almost finished in Oct,10. Now you should be fine. Rajdamri Road is in the centre of Bangkok located --the Hyatt Erawan and the Four Seasons Hotels, both have less than 8th floor building---and city noise is acceptable during daytime. Once a month there is the fumigator's activity in the building which would be announced on the board in common areas--residence should avoid being in the building during that time---if you can read the announcement that should not be a problem. During raining season in Thailand---Bangkok may smell different from the US because of its high humidity---thus, more of dust could be spotted and mistaken for molds from those unfamiliar eyes and foreign noses. Thank you for these comments and please try the Four Seasons for your next visit. Regards
Anawat was a friendly, helpful and accommodating landlord and his condo was as pictured. Located less than 10 mins from main shopping at Central, and 3 mins from BTS in one direction, and the Villa supermarket in the other, the location was perfect. Reception was friendly and helpful; they escorted the occasional takeaway delivery guys to our condo. - Polo Chicken is highly recommended. Laundry facilities were easy to use and anawat's once-weekly cleaner was also able to do the washing when provided with the money and detergent. Drycleaning doona cost 300 baht, which was unexpected but necessary as no top sheet which we have suggested was desirable, and which anawat said he would provide for the future. Internet worked wirelessly for our iphones, but it was cable only for our laptop; Anawat's previous users didn't have this trouble and used the wireless for their laptops. Ananwat brought in an iron and drying rack on request. Cable TV was adequate in terms of channels. No outside phone line but we bought local Sims. There were lots of household items left from previous occupiers which we appreciated, and we left our unused items as well. We stayed a month and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay, which we would love to repeat.
“Beautiful Cozy Place”
This was a beautiful cozy place, a bit of a respite from the craziness of Bangkok. It was a great location; very close to the skytrain, and a couple blocks from the park, and grocery store. The bedroom was wonderfully comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed though small. The doormen and women at the front desk were always kind and helpful. The pool is beautiful as well, and a great place to go on a hot day in the city. The fitness room was also equipped with everything I needed as a long distance runner.
“value for money + very convenience !!!”
I stayed there for 7 days, paid for only 6 days-pretty good deal. Most of all,it is right there in the center of the city and everything is either within walking distance or a few minutes away by skytrain!!! Love it, will come again next time.
