“Quiet neighborhood that provides easy access to Manhattan”
Owners are so friendly and helpful. Would stay here again as it was so refreshing to sleep in a quiet neighborhood. I usually stay in The Village but the noise In that area is an issue after 10pm, not the case in Brooklyn.
“Stay again? YES”
Having used FlipKey only once before we weren't sure if we would consistently get the same quality of accomadation as the last time - we are so happy to say that this place delivered a home run! From the professional dealings with the owner, to the neighborhood, true to photo expectations, cleanliness, and the list goes on. We were very happy. We stayed here for 4 nights in June and it was cool and comfortable, perfectly convenient and sized for our small family. It is a basement apartment so you can and might hear some upstairs noise, but it was never at bad times, or abnoxious, they were very considerate of the fact that they had people staying below them. This place was the PERFECT start to our 2 1/2 week visit to the NY area. We would definitely stay here again.
“We loved it!”
We stayed here for 10 days and loved it! Of course we were sceptical at first (you just hear a lot of stories about scams) but everything was perfect! The living room was big enough for me and my boyfriend! The couch was also really comfortable and cozy. As we were just two we didn't sleep on it. So we can't say how comfortable it is to sleep on there! But the bed is really like sleeping in heaven. Our first night here (and we were jetlagged etc.) was so comfortable that we woke up totally relaxed. Jeanne and George were great hosts! The were very friendly and made us feel absolutely comfortable. The kitchen and the bathromm and actually everything was really clean! Enough towels were provided and there's also a huge fridge in the apartment! A 10 minutes walk away from the 7 line brought us to Manhattan within 15 minutes. But we also loved the neighbourhood itself! There were a lot of stores, a pharmacy, a food market etc. close by! We really loved staying here and intend to come back. :)
“Perfect in Every Way!”
We stayed in Jeanne's Greenpoint apt for two weeks in May and could not have been more pleased! The size was just right for the two of us, it was neat, very clean and the perfect launching point for exploring Brooklyn and Manhattan. Very convenient subway stops, and an easy walk to the ferry. An unexpected surprise was how much we enjoyed the immediate neighborhood - so quaint, and fun to walk through. We found the area to be very safe. We walked about a mile to Williamsburg almost every evening and had no trouble whatsoever. We will definitely be returning!
“Great New York Experience”
I located this rental on Tripadvisor and immediately made my plans to visit New York. The location was great in old Polish neighborhood. Easy to get to No. 7 train, which gets you to all of the other trains, Times Square two stops away. We used this as a launch point to a train ride to Washington DC. Jeanne and George did a great job remodeling and the rental easily accommodated the four of us. I would highly recommend this rental to any one traveling to New York and we will be back.
“Great apartment, thoughtful host, okay location”
This is a very clean and tidy, newly renovated basement apartment. It is totally self-contained and has every amenity that we required. It was great to be able to let ourselves in on arrival with a pin that we'd specified in advance. Jeanne was very helpful and communicative. She was particularly accomodating when it came to our earlier than usual check-in time and leaving our luggage in the apartment (still accessible with our pin as the next guests weren't due yet) for half a day until we could depart for our flight home. We were reminded that our hosts' own home was above us as we could hear the family's footsteps, particularly in the morning. We were in town on business, much of which was in Manhattan, and found the two-part subway trip to and from midtown to be a bit of a drag compared to our stay on the Upper East Side earlier in the week. Although this inconvenience is reflected in the oh-so-reasonable nightly rate. Having said that, the apartment is a short walk to Greenpoint's main shopping strip - Manhattan ave with lots of restaurants, grocery stores, laundromats and other retail conveniences.
“Our NY home away from home!”
My wife and I and our two teenage daughters stayed in July 2010 for 7 days for our first family trip to NYC. We were looking for an authentic New York City experience and Jeanne's apartment/neighborhood exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had a home away from home. Even though we spent our days in Manhattan, this was our "home†every night. Their cozy basement is obviously recently refurbished with a great use of space. Our bed was comfortable and our daughters loved the big Futon. We had plenty of closet and drawer space. We made use of the clean kitchen (some meals and snacks) on several occasions. All utensils and dishes were ready for us. The bathroom and kitchen are both small but everything worked perfectly. After some much appreciated advice from Jeanne on neighborhood restaurants and grocery stores, we frequently walked through the safe, diverse, awesome Greenpoint Brooklyn neighborhood...day and evening. We elected to walk a few blocks each day to the subway and back. We always felt safe and quickly felt like real New Yorkers. We cannot say enough amazing things about Jeanne's place, our wonderful experience and our new NYC home away from home. Thank you Jeanne and family!
“Childhood Dream Finally coming True!!!”
I stayed at this apartment for the New Years Holiday, first time in NY, traveled with my hubby, and two kids, I loved it!!! the apt, was in a great location, beautiful decorated. The location was close enough to get to city, but at the same time, gave you the peace you wanted, great host, Jeanne was great. I can not say enough good things about my experience at this Brooklyn Apt. AWESOME Pizza place just at the corner!!!
“Perfect place to stay!”
From the moment we arrived, we were so thrilled we chose this place! Jeanne and George greeted us with friendly smiles, made sure we had everything that we needed, and even helped with suggestions on what to see and where to go. The apartment had everything that we needed, and then some! It is a new apartment in a lovely, safe, cool neighborhood. Everything in the apartment was clean, fresh, and it was wonderfully decorated. We felt comfortable and were happy to come back here each day after a busy day of sightseeing. The full kitchen was wonderful to have to make meals if we wanted to, or we just walked up to Manhattan Ave to some great restaurants. It is conveniently located to everything that NYC has to offer. We'll definitely be back!
