“Cozy get away”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2016

Pecos river cabin is the perfect little get away spot! Just an hour and a half drive from Albuquerque we have visited twice once in August and once in October. Always clean , fresh and inviting. All details are well thought out and Margo is very friendly and helpful and always willing to accommodate. Highly recommend Pecos River Cabin for peace and relaxation.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your great review, and thank you for taking such good care of our cabin! We are very proud of our five-star TripAdvisor rating. Your positive review helps other travelers decide to visit Pecos River Cabin and its surroundings in the beautiful Pecos Wilderness. Word of mouth is definitely the best advertising! Thank you again for choosing Pecos River Cabin for your get-away. Margo

“Spiritual Experience!”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

We stay in cabins in California, Oregon, South Dakota, Colorado and the Pecos Cabin in New Mexico. The Pecos Cabin is by far our favorite.!!! Look forward to our next visit.

“Limited access for some”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

The cabin is even more spectacular in person. The natural beauty of the Pecos River is just steps from the front porch. This cabin has one limitation. The only bathroom is upstairs. The stairway is very steep and was difficult to climb for guest with more limited mobility. Also, the bathroom has a deep tub that is tucked into the alcove of the roof slope. This again is limiting for guest that have trouble with mobility. We are not handicap guests, but mild arthritis makes navigating this cabin difficult. That being said, if you are spry and love a deep bath on a cold night, then this is the perfect spot for you. It is absolutely gorgeous and supremely maintained. Horseshoes and fishing are literally a stones throw from the cabin. The skylights are unique and allow guests to peek at Gods majestic night sky from bed. The night sky is very dark so the stars pop and envelop the star gazer. I felt like Wendy flying to Neverland on a bed of stardust. Magical and perfect (of course I am spry and upstairs near the restroom). Thank you for sharing your home!

“Relax!”

Loved the peace, the stars, the Steller's Jays. We can't wait to visit again in the spring. Thank you!

“Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing getaway.”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2013

My family and I spent 3 nights at this wonderful little cabin and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The river is steps away and the cabin sits on a perfect piece of Pecos wilderness. The stars at night were amazing and could even be seen through a skylight above the bed. We felt completely at home in the cabin and were impressed by the good taste and decor! Nice artwork and rustic furniture. The cabin is small but the owners have made good use of the space and our family (4 adults and one toddler) never felt crowded. The bathtub is deep and beautiful. The kitchen includes everything you'd need to cook and more. We enjoyed meals out on the stone patio, relaxing on the hammock watching birds and playing horse shoes. We took a walk up to a nearby picnic area and saw a mountain lion! Which we were very excited about. On our way out we took the drive up to Cowles and I have to say it's one of the prettiest drives I've taken in NM. We had a problem with being overbooked initially but the owner gave us two free nights to compensate. And our experience made it all worth it! We definitely hope to go again.

“This wonderful river cabin met all of our high expectations for”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

We had a delightful time staying here for over a week. Our expectations were more than met with its charm and comfort and location. Right off the river, so soothing sounds of the water lull you to sleep as you look at the stars through the skylight over the bed. Cool mornings and evenings to enjoy the outdoors. We had grandkids come to stay part of the time, and they loved being able to fish in the river, play horseshoes, and use the books and activity books left in the cabin for little ones. The owners have thought of everything for a relaxed visit: full kitchen, fine linens, variety of books to read and even enjoyable art work around the cabin.

“Outstanding cabin in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2013

A great cabin in a wonderful location. Everything it was advertised to be and more. I hadn't fished for years but gave it a try and caught (and released) a number nice trout. We got lots of good pictures of the birds and the river. We wanted to get away fromn the world and the Pecos River Cabin allowed us to do exactly that. (I usually don't write reviews but had to make an exception in this case)

“Enchanting Pecos River Cabin”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2013

Delighted that all the representations about this charming cabin on the Pecos River were accurate. Yet the experience of being there exceeded our expectations. When we arrived, the birds were everywhere enjoying the bounty offered by the bird feeders...what a nice touch! The little wagon was there to help us move our stuff from the car into our cabin retreat. The cabin was spotless and had all of the amenities of home The heat was so efficient that we were always comfortable, even when the temperature dropped to the low 40's. The bridge across the stream invited us to explore the trail over to the Pecos River whose rushing waters we heard as soon as we stepped out of the car. All this and only 45 minutes to my favorite Santa Fe Whole Foods store or a walk around the plaza. We had lunch at Frankie in Pecos the first day and they had been closed for three days while there was filming of a Longmire episode going on. We had brought our Longmire books to read so we knew we were in the right place. The bed was comfortable and it was amazing to lay there and look up at the night stars. We had a wonderful time and plan to make our next visit for a longer period of time..soon we hope. The Barnetts, Las Cruces,NM (The cabin was only a five hour drive from our door to the cabin !)

“Pecos River Cabin, A Wonderful Experience”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2013

We were warned in advance that the cabin was small--ideally suited for two to four people. We are a family of seven: my wife and I and five kids (aged 2 to 11). So, we thought we knew what we were committing ourselves to. But, to our great surprise, the cabin felt very spacious. All of us fit very comfortably in the cabin. Plenty of room for sleeping, watching movies (BTW, the cabin is very well stocked with movies for kids and adults, books on nature, etc.), or just lounging in front of the fire. There was always plenty of hot water for baths--in the delightful bathroom and tub--which was a great experience given the snow and low temperatures outside! The cabin was also very warm and cozy: the heat worked superbly; the wood burning stove was also very easy to light and keep going. Very atmospheric! My wife repeatedly made comments about how well decorated and furnished the cabin was: the artwork is wonderful, the kitchen in very well stocked for any kind of cooking one would want to do in a cabin. And the furniture and beds were very comfortable. Our kids loved exploring outside: just steps away from the cabin is the Pecos River--very, very peaceful and beautiful. Overall our family could not have had a better experience. Thank you, Pecos River Cabin! We look forward to returning as quickly as we can!

“An awesome cabin in an awesome setting.”

Reviewed 15 Dec 2012

Words & pictures on the website can't describe how unbelievably great Margo's place is. The cabin was spotless and well stocked. We spent the early week in Santa Fe near the Plaza for the annual Nmoga convention. Having spent my summers along the Pecos River in my youth, we decided to reserve this cabin for the remainder of that week-and we weren't disappointed. Once we unpacked, I hit the river with my flyrod and caught a nice Rainbow on the very 1st presentation. Shelia also caught a few trout at Monestary Lake (there is nothing better than a meal of fresh caught trout). We had a great time hiking along the river, sitting outside the cabin, and re-exploring the area. I brought back many wonderful memories of the times I spent with my Dad on the Pecos. He passed earlier this year of lung cancer at 83, but I felt as if he was there on the river with me. Thank you, Margo-we hope to come back in the late spring or early summer of 2013.
