“Stop... don't even bother to look for other rentals!”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2012

I spent hours looking at rental properties. I had never been to Maui before, and had no idea what I was looking for. Guess what... I found it! The resort owners were wonderful to deal with.I had a couple extra travel challenges to deal with, and Barb was so helpful and accommodating. She took away so much of the stress that could easily have come with those challenges. When choosing the resort, we chose this one, because unlike many of the others, it had extra amenities like ping pong, tennis, foos ball, and a gym. I am glad that the resort had these amenities because it was what made us choose this one over others, and as a result we got an amazing home for a week. Our unit was perfect. There were five of us (2 adults, 3 kids aged 10, 14, 16), and there was plenty of space. As soon as we walked in the door after a very long flight,my daughter said,"I feel like I am at home already!" And that was exactly it for the following ten days... comfortable just like home! There was not one time that I said, "I wish the unit had..." because it had everything. Beach chairs, coolers, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, spices, a Brita in the fridge, everything! The grounds and the pool were beautiful and so well maintained. Make sure to take in the Wednesday Mai Tai parties by the pool! As far as location, you cannot get any better. One of the best beaches is right across the street. Great for snorkeling in the morning, and boogie boarding in the afternoon. Snorkelers here are very likely to spot giant sea turtles along the reefs near the shoreline. The weather here is amazing as well. We spoke to people who stayed on the north shore and they said they got a lot of overcast days. We didn't have any in our 10 days. You are also very close to everything here. So, take my advice, and stop looking at other rental units, and just book this one. I guarantee you you will thank me for it... both for the time saved, and for the amazing stay that you will have!

“Great place to enjoy paradise!”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2012

My family rented this unit for a week. Barbara and Norm were great to work with - very responsive and detailed. The unit was perfect and really well-stocked - everything you need for the beach and pool is in the outside closet. Save room in your luggage, because even beach towels are in the closet! The kitchen had everything for cooking a meal, large or small, and we also used the nice Bbqs outside a couple of times. It was nice to just hang out on the lanai in the morning and eat breakfast while we planned the day. There were games in the cupboards, Dvds and music for use too. Here you are close to central Maui, making it easy to get to Haleakala Crater, Iao Valley and the Road to Hana. Kam III beach is across the street and I would say it's the nicest of the 3. Lots of locals here too but it never seemed crowded. The short walk takes you through the grounds of Kamaole Sands. We were worried about it being too hot with no central aC in this unit but it was not a problem. We only turned on the living room aC a couple of times, which cools everything but the downstairs bedroom. The downstairs bedroom can get a little hot but it cools down with the cross breezes at night, plus there are ceiling fans and pole fans in each room. One of our family members was an early sleeper and he did find the pool a little noisy at night - but the resort staff shuts it down right at 10pm. We really enjoyed the stay. We have stayed in Kaanapali before so this was our first time to South Maui. Kihei has better beaches for bodysurfing and boogie boarding, not much wind, and it's sunnier and drier. Kaanapali gets more breezes and a misty rain from the mountains in the afternoons, and the beaches are better for snorkeling.

The perfect set up for our family of 4. Our two kids under 11 loved the pool and/or the beach everyday. The condo was perfect with sun on the balcony and the best view. I truly believe this is the best situated unit in the complex with a view of the ocean and the pool. Being a corner unit we didn't get anyone walking by so the bedroom the kids slept in was quiet although the complex was all quiet by 10 every night anyway. The complex is close to shopping and we loved eating at Freds. We were intrigued by the birds at 6:15am and 6:15pm making so much noise and we never did find out why they all met at these times. Met loads of friendly Canadians. The fully stocked condo with beach towels and toys was really great for us. I would highly recommend staying at 3-401 kamaole sands...we hope to again soon.

“Great Location, Great Complex, Very well equipped Condo”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2012

Our family of 5 stayed for 2 weeks and had a fantastic holiday in Maui! Kamaole Sands is a beautiful complex, very well kept and the location is perfect. Our kids enjoyed the pool and especially the Ping-Pong and foosball tables! The barbeque (grill) areas are very clean, like cooking on a brand new BBQ each night. The condo (3-401) is spacious and very well equipped with every kitchen item and spice that you could want! The extras were really appreciated (boogie boards, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, beach towels, books, brochures, Dvd's and more). This benefit became apparent when talking to other guests who complained about having less than the bare necessities in their condos. The kitchen table could accommodate 6 people which was nice for family dinners. The view from the patio (lanai) is beautiful - especially during the sunset. The queen bed in the loft was very comfortable; and the keyless door was great, never having to worry about keys. Although the condo was clean and well equipped it could use some renovations in the near future. Oh yeah - the Mai Tai parties at the pool are great - be careful, they can sneak up on you! Overall, renting this unit was an excellent value and it was a pleasure doing business with Barbara. The Hall Family Calgary, Canada

Response from the owner Thank you for the great review - New carpeting has been ordered and will be installed in May.

“A Convenient gem in Paradise!!!”

What a exceptional place to stay!!! One of the things you can worry about on vacation is not having all the items at hand that you are accustomed to using while away from home...This unit had everything that we needed for our two week stay! From spices for dinner to boogie boards for a day at the beach, this unit had all the conveniences of home! The unit was very comfortable for our family of four and was well maintained. Extending out to the building and grounds themselves, everything was all well maintained and the grounds were groomed regularly to depict paradise! The location was perfect, close by to restaraunts, grocery stores and more importantly, the beach!! Across from the infamous Kamaole Beach I, II and III beaches, it was so convenient to run across the street to the beach and run back for a refreshment at your leisure! This was our first trip to Maui and our very first experience with renting a vacation unit. Without knowing what to expect, we were very pleased with the outcome! The owners Barbara and Norm have created a wonderful space in this unit. Barbara was very professional and helpful with assisting us with the initial rental process and throughout our stay. Her friendly attitude was really expressed through her actions in ensuring that we enjoyed our vacation. We felt so comfortable with Barb that we kept in touch with each other every couple of days during our trip to update her on our adventures and she would always have more helpful tips for us each time! Thank you to Barbara and Norm for making our first trip to Maui such a memorable one! We will definitely be back soon! :) Mahalo!

“Great Experience! Great for a family”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2011

We have been to Kamaole Sands seven times. This is the first time we rented this unit and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There we several things that made this unit standout; first, they have a key code for getting in and out of the unit. We did not have to use keys or pass them back and forth. Second, it is close to the pool and is very quiet. Third, the unit was comfortable in so many ways with nice bedding, boggie boards, great kitchen supplies and nice furniture. One of the things our family really enjoyed was the large kitchen table. It makes a difference for a family of 5! Additionally, the owners we great to work with and our booking was smooth.

“A wonderful vacation experience!”

Condo was spotless and was supplied with everything we needed. The gardens were beautiful. Great beach just across the street. We had a great vacation!

“Another slice of heaven.”

What a comfortable home away in paradise. Everything you need is there in the condo so all you need to bring are your clothes. Beach towels, etc. there in the lanai closet, music and games and dvds if you must stay in. Spices in the cupboard with all the other kitchen items for cooking and eating. I like the folder with menus for eating out suggestions or just Bbqing and visiting with others out at the BBQ areas. Having the birds greet the day is such a nice way to awaken. Love the morning beach swims and evening pool swims. Also love the Wednesday aloha party at the pool with the wonderful Hawaiian music. Will be back again asap. Thank you for making it such a special place.

“Relaxing, comfortable, friendly,”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2011

The condo was very easy to find in Kihei. For a family of 5 we were very comfortable. 2 bathrooms was very convient! Great communication with the owners. Liked that the office was open 24 hours if you needed assistance with anything. The condo was clean and well supplied with everything you need. Very close access to the beach and lots of shopping and restaurants near by. The condo was very quiet both am and PM. The pool was very clean with beautiful surroundings. The condo was furnished with aC on the main floor only, but every room had fans which kept the air circulating. The room with the twin beds was hardest to keep cool. We felt it was a great value for the price we paid. The owners of the condo were very friendly and kind and very open to any questions about the condo or Maui you may have. We had a peace of mind knowing they wanted us to have a wonderful stay at their condo.
