“Excellent Views”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2010

This unit has excellent views of the ocean (sea turtles every day) and you get both the sunrise and sunset. It's quiet (with the caveat that you're pretty much right above the ocean and surf noise is constant), it's clean and well appointed. You can cook for yourself or there are several good restaurants in the immediate vicinity in all price ranges

“Oceanfront;above and beyond all other condos on Kauai”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2010

kUhio shores unit #309 was truly an Oceanfront condo! The waves crashed all night and day right below us and the turtles were right off the Lanai for our enjoyment with as many as 10 at a time! The condo had even been updated to not only meet our expectations but it was above and beyond what the pictures showed! We believe this condo has to be experienced to appreciate all it has to offer! We are planning on bringing our grown children here next fall so they too can experience the best of Kauai!!! The sunsets on the grass out front were the perfect way to end our days after snorkeling at the beach nearby Infront of the beach house Resturaunt. Location, location, location! Kuhio shores #309 is the very best condo on Kauai!

“As beautiful as described.”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2010

I remember the feeling I had having just walked in the condo for the first time. It was gorgeous. And the view was breathtaking. There really was a 270 degree ocean view. There were two large ceiling to floor windows in the front room. One showed a view of the bay, and the other, a view of the ocean. You really could watch the surfers in one window and the sea turtles in the other window. The condo was well kept up. Everything worked. It was well maintained. And there was quality in the details, from the fine sheets on the bed to the tv and dvd player with movies to watch. The dinnerware was great. The kitchen was well appointed with cookware. It was a pleasure talking with the owners as they send me a couple of long, detailed emails containing "things to do, places to visit and where to eat." I would stay there again in a minute. I wish I was there right now!

“Unbelievable setting”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2010

This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. You literally feel like you are suspended over the water in this 3rd floor condo. The views are spectacular from every room. The unit was nice and clean and the complex well-maintained. We had everything we needed and the location was great. The McCartins were very easy to work with - highly recommended!

“Gorgeous Ocean Views”

Reviewed 5 May 2010

The McCartins were great to deal with. Keys, Parking, Deposits and Cleaning arrangements were smoothe as silk. The condo was clean as a whistle. Arrival and Departure times were flexible. The corner unit is fantastic with a panoramic view of the Pacific. Green Sea Turtles are below the Lanai most days. Decor is wonderful. Wifi through a router. Fully equipped kitchen. The sound of the surf every night as you head off to bed....can't beat this! We loved the in Old Koloa Town, the Beach House next door, Spouting Horn and Poipu Beach nearby, and our favourite...Keoki's Paradise! We loved Kauai and will return to Kuhio Shores. Our only disappointment was the lack of a pool at the Resort which was my reason to only give 4 of 5 stars. We had a great time and will be happy to return.

“A week in paradise!”

Reviewed 5 May 2010

We stayed in unit 309 of Kuhio Shores owned by the McCartins. The whole process from the time we discovered the unit on line to the moment we walked into the unit was very smooth & easy! When we walked into the condo it was like walking into our own comfortable home. The kitchen was equiped with everything you could possibly need to throw a gourmet dinner party. Inside the condo was like being on your own island since two walls were nothing but windows overlooking the ocean and another wall was all mirrors that reflected the ocean. It was furnished & decorated with lots of style, the bed was comfortable, the bathrooom was smaller than what we were used to, but it was functional.... great shower! From the balcony we enjoyed watching the sea turtles playing in the waters below and the surfers! The condo was close to shopping. We ate at Keoki's Paradise about three times because it was so good and so convenient. The thing I liked best and miss the most is just the sound of the ocean waves around us while we were in the condo. There is nothing better than waking up to that sound! We'd definitely stay here again!

“Stunning views, great location, will return”

Reviewed 4 May 2010

We had a great stay in this Condo. Well stocked, nice, updated features and great location. It took us a few days to get use to the waves crashing right outside the bedroom window, but once we did, we really missed it after we left. Snorkeling was fair, but you could see 3 or 4 sea turtles at a time from the balcony so really didn't need to go snorkeling. Having the Beach House restaurant within walking distance was a nice plus. The resort was well maintained and I was impressed with the way the security guards were always cleaning and collecting leaves, etc. from the parking lot. Only negative was lack of air conditioning, but with the ocean breazes coming through the unit and using the fans provided we were able to easily work around that. This is a very special place and we will definitely be back.

Location cannot be beat at any of these units, but to be on the corner, and have the water on two sides was a special treat. The home is well-stocked with quality kitchen items, sturdy dishes and silverware, tastefully decorated in a hawaiian theme. I enjoyed the cd player with a nice array of hawaiian music, and surround sound speakers. My parents slept in the bedroom, and I was on the pull-out sofa, which was very comfortable. The sound of the ocean was so loud, I was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep, but I did. Seeing turtles and other sea life right off the terrace was fantastic. There were 2 beach chairs, snorkel equipment, and a choice of ice chests to bring to the beach. The property is well-maintained inside and out, and I would choose this unit again if I was lucky enough to return.

We absolutely LOVED this unit at Kuhio Shores! It is quite honestly THE PERFECT location. With the constant breezes flowing through the comfortably furnished 'hale' you have a feeling of being outdoors 24/7. Internet service works great, which is not something that we found in the unit we stayed in following the brief stay in #309. We had everything we could have possibly needed both inside, outside and beachside. A brief conversation with the owners confirmed the gracious spirit of 'aloha' that we felt while there. Even though we had prearranged months ago to move to a two bedroom unit (my friend was sleeping on the couch), we were longing to be back in #309 the entire time. I guess that says it ALL when someone would prefer sleeping on the couch over sleeping in a bed! But I do have to say one thing. Those window coverings in the bedroom definitely have a mind of their own (MENEHUNE???), constantly creeping their way back to the closed position that I made sure to open before shutting my eyes for the night. BUT NO WORRIES! Two WalMart bags cut down the middle corrected the problem and it was sweet dreams from that point on. With family living on the island we have been looking for a place where we can return regularly. I can now say that we have found our Kaua'i 'home away from home' and will be staying here EXCLUSIVELY as availability permits.

“Couldn't Ask For More”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2010

My husband and I stayed in unit 309 at Kuhio Shores for two nights in April. Since it's a third floor, corner unit with floor to ceiling windows, we had magnificent views of the sunrise and even a partial view of the sunset each day. Turtles, spinner dolphins, whales and surfers are right outside your sliding glass door. The condo was spotless (a window cleaning service was just finishing up when we arrived). The owners have been diligent in supplying anything you could possibly need. WiFi,stereo, flat screen TV, variety of movies and CD's, Kauai guide books, coolers, beach chairs, snorkel equipment and even binoculars! The kitchen was the best equipped we've ever had (and we travel alot). Adequate bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed. We left the windows open at night and let the ocean waves lull us to sleep. Bathroom is small, but has a good sized tiled shower. The only drawback for some may be there is no pool. But then again, you're surrounded by ocean with a variety of beaches to choose from. We would recommend this unit for a couple looking to spend some 'alone' time without the distractions of a large resort. We only hope we're able to stay longer next time.
