“Great Apartment at great location”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2017

I spent a week in the Castle View apartment with my family and I was very pleased. Communication with the owner before and during the stay was excellent (he even helped us with our luggage). Everything was clean and tidy. We found 4 croissants, 4 porridges, bottle of milk and juice. There is a supermarket nearby and a Grassmarket with a lot of nice restaurants just few minuts away. Also, the center is just few minutes walking from the apartment. My recommendation. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g186525-d1153574-r497256004-Castle_View_Apartments-Edinburgh_Scotland.html#

“Awesome Grassmarket apartment with a great view in the ideal location”

Grassmarket is perfectly situated for a visit to Edinburgh, and the apartment was perfectly appointed! Peter welcomed us and made sure we had everything we need. I cannot imagine a better place!

“Another Great Stay”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2014

I travel to Edinburgh at least once a year, and pre trip, I always check to see if this flat is available. This will have been my third stay at Castle View apartment. My stay here was another five star experience. As always the flat was immaculate, and it was very easy to settle in. The flat is nicely furnished and very comfortable. All appliances, heating, hot water and television were top rate and fully functional. The kitchen with all necessary housewares is always appreciated as are the treats left as a welcome. The area is perfect place to stay whether this is your first trip, or a return visit. The variety of shops and restaurants in the area are all pretty much top quality and there is plenty to do. Most places you might want to visit in the city are in walking distance, or if that's not an option, there are plenty of taxis available. Public transportation is also close by. There is great information at the flat on places to visit, and brochures are available. The flat is so comfortable and well appointed that staying in is an attractive option as well. Peter is a wonderful host, and really goes out of his way to make sure his guests have a great stay. I hope to be visiting again!

“Fantastic stay!”

I don't typically write reviews, but my fiancée and I and our two friends had such a lovely time, I felt this warranted an exception. Upon arriving, we met up with Peter, the owner, who was very friendly and welcoming-not only did he provide a bit of breakfast food for us to use at our convenience, but he left us some Scotch as well! Edinburgh Castle is visible right out the front window, which seemed almost unreal. The place was very well-furnished and very clean, and even had a faux-fireplace heater for ambiance. There was also a dishwasher and a washer/dryer (although we never used it), both of which seemed nearly new. And of course, having Wi-Fi was a great resource for us to be able to research activities ahead of time and stay in touch with friends and family at home. The apartment is in a perfect location, right near Grassmarket, which has several restaurants and pubs from which to choose should you decide to stay local. (This is something of an odd thing to say, because Edinburgh's city center is so walkable that pretty much everything is "local.") We were able to easily go out for a bit, come back, and then go back out again. The apartment building is a bit hidden (the entrance is labeled "Cordiner's Land") between two bookshops, but I was aware of this before the trip (thanks to Google Maps street view!) so I had no trouble finding the place. Some local perks include the Dragonfly cocktail bar just a few doors down from the apartment, and Mary's Milk Bar a bit further down from that. I honestly can't think of anything at all negative to say about the apartment, and next time I plan on visiting Edinburgh I will absolutely be looking to stay here. (Heads up, there is no elevator, so if that's an issue for you, be aware.)

“continues to exceed expectations”

We are a family of two adults and two teenage children, and have stayed in Castle View apartment for the past three years. It is located just off Grassmarket and is a fantastic location from which to experience the Edinburgh festivals. The apartment is comfortable, stylish and incredibly well maintained - it is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, and with a welcome pack that takes Scottish hospitality to a new level. There is no better endorsement than to say we have booked already for next year!

“Great Stay at Castle View apartment”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2013

Our host, Peter Tucker was most accomodating. We arrived about two hours late and weren't able to contact him to let him know. Peter waited for us and still took the time to make sure we were comfortable, even though it made him late for another appointment. Not only is Peter a very nice guy, he gave us a lot of valuable information on what to see in Edinburgh. In fact, he also gave us some helpful insights on the rest of our trip outside the city. The apartment was everything advertised and more. When it says "castle view", it really means it. We could see the whole side of the castle from our front window. The apartment was clean, well-stocked, decorated with some cool artwork, and full of amenities- including heavy curtains, which were needed when the sun came up at about 5:00 a.m. The location was outstanding- close to Grassmarket and all of its shops and pubs, but far enough away to be very quiet. Also a very short walk to the castle. The location and our host were the high points of the let, but everything was really fantastic. We would definitely recommend the apartment for a great stay in Edinburgh.

“Great place and great location!”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2013

My friend and I had a great stay here. We met with Peter at the apt when we go into town and he was very helpful in showing us around the place and advising us of things to do and see and also recommending places to eat. The location was great! We were just down the street from the Grass Market area and an up the stairs climb to get to the Castle and Royal Mile. The only downside would be the parking situation (street parking free at night and Car Park during the day), but if you don't have a car, this is the place you want to be!

“Fantastic - Could not have asked for a better stay.”

Beautiful spacious apartment in an excellent central location in Edinburgh Old Town. Great Castle views. Stylish, luxurious and comfortable decor. Pete, the apartment owner, was unobtrusive, very helpful and friendly and really took his time to ensure we got the best and most out of our stay in Edinburgh (with thorough and detailed communication beforehand). We also enjoyed complimentary pastries and a decanter of Whisky! The cupboards were well stocked with crockery and cutlery, tea and coffee. Will definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family and hope to return in the future. Excellent value for money.

“Excellent weekend away!”

This apartment was great, the owner literally had thought of everything, we were very impressed with the welcome/breakfast pack that had been left for us, we will definitely be back.

“Location, location, location”

Reviewed 17 May 2013

A comfortable, beautifully appointed and well located apartment in the Old Town. Perfectly placed for the Grassmarket, Royal Mile and Old Town with easy access to Princess Street Gardens and the New Town. A very warm welcome complete with welcome pack and all the comforts of a first class hotel. Would certainly return and have recommended to friends as a great place to stay. Even our friends who live in Edinburgh said they would recommend it to visitors looking for a reasonably priced and comfortable place to stay. Our host could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to planning our return.
