“a beautiful and serene vacation home”
This lovely and comfortable house, set in a gorgeous, convenient location is the perfect place from which to enjoy the many splendors of Santa Fe. Susan, the gracious owner, has created a magical oasis complete with art, colorful gardens, and fresh, delicious goodies to eat. Since she knows all the ins and outs of Santa Fe, one does not need any guide books to get around to the most interesting spots. However, there is a full set of literature and current calendar of events in the house for a complete view of what is going on. All in all, this is the perfect place from which to enjoy a glorious vacation.
We stayed 13 nights. We were personally greeted. Car parking was right by the front door. Inside there were fresh flowers, a well-stocked refrigerator (juices, eggs, bread, butter, yogurt, 2 kinds of jams, etc.), coffee (both caf and de-caf), homemade healthy granola. There were plenty of dishes and supplies. The casita was clean and homey. There was a table/chairs in a protected, shady spot near the front door, and there was a small, more private, patio in the back. ... We'd definitely stay there again!
“An Ideal Retreat in Santa FE”
We stayed in the Casita at Dunshee's for two nights in January. We were there for a brief visit and Dunshee's provided the perfect place for us and a friend and a pet to stay while we explored this fascinating city imbued with art and history on every corner. We loved being able to have a leisurely breakfast in our own time with delicious muffins, granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee all provided by our host and topped up for our second morning too! We enjoyed making a fire in the cosy living room after a full day of walking around Santa Fe soaking in all it has to offer. With 2 separate bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen we thought it was perfect and very reasonably priced. It was a little tricky to find with a GPS. Follow the host's instructions carefully! We didn't even get in our vehicle the whole time we were there, though, which was wonderful. It is an easy walk to the centre and close to all the galleries on Canyon Road.
“Home away from home in Santa fe”
Where do I begin. We have had two of the most wonderful stays ever in Santa Fe, at The Dunshee's Casita. The casita is nestled in an off the beaten path neighborhood just south of Canyon Rd. It offers old world charm, walking distance to restaurants, galleries and a lovely, non-intrusive innkeeper. Upon arrival, we found the fridge stocked with wonderful baked goods, fruit, coffee and a well stocked pile of fire wood for the kiva fireplace. Susan, the owner lives next door, but always felt like we had total privacy but also if something came up, she was there to help, be it restaurant reviews or to get more firewood. I love this place and I'm a pretty picky person. Go stay at Dunshee's Casita, you will love it.
“Santa Fe Retreat”
If you want to experience Santa Fe like a local, then this is the place for you. We've been staying at Dunshee's since the mid-90's. The adobe home is located in the historic part of town within walking distance to all the galleries and restaurants on Canyon Road. Every time we stay at Dunshee's it feels like home. It not pretentious at all, but Susan Dunshee always makes us feel like family. We've stayed in the main house and the private casita. Each one offers a great experience. There's nothing fancy about the place, but the sum of its' parts makes it all work as cozy retreat. We always hate to leave, but look forward to planning our next stay.
“Thanksgiving in the Casita”
We return to Dunshee's every year for Thanksgiving week and will continue to do so. The atmosphere is homey and friendly. The accessability to the old town and Canyon Road is prime - we hardly use our car when we are there. This is the best B & B experience we have ever had.
