second time we have been here and will be back again, perfect for us!
“Relaxing holiday in stunning surroundings”
We had a lovely relaxing fortnight here. The apartment was exactly as pictured, not luxurious but clean and everything we needed. The pool is amazing and the views, especially from the infinity pool and Jacuzzi are fantastic. A long walk to town in the summer, especially coming back up the hill in the heat so I'm afraid we did as Laurie suggested and parked the car at the bottom of the hill and walked into town from there. Lovely town, lots of nice places to eat and drink. We definitely recommend the 'typical meal with an Umbrian family' that Laurie can arrange for you - great food and company.
“Great family holiday”
We much appreciated the help we received from Laurie in meeting us and taking us to the apartment and also from the two ladies who helped my daughter and her family liase with the police when they had a bag stolen on the train from Rome. The welcome pack was excellent and provision of beach towels very welcome. The apartments and the pool were ideal for our 4 families with children of varying ages. The position, high up, gave onto stunning views of the surrounding countryside and was very secluded and private. We would definitely advise having a car however. We found it was a good base for touring, visiting beautiful towns in the locality and Spoleto itself was charming. We met several other families also staying at the venue who were very pleasant.
“Sehr gute Unterkunft”
“Lovely place, perfect location, wonderful hosting”
We had a great time at Spoleto by the Pool apt1, a beautiful apartment with amazing panoramic views of the Umbrian countryside. The pool was amazing and we spent hours by the pool in just looking out at the fantastic views. An excellent place to relax but still close to Spoleto which is truly italian town, not crowded by tourists. The service was excellent. Norma sent us lots of information about property bu e-mail and we were met by Laurie on arrival. He is really wonderful, showing us where everything in the apartment and the local area. He provided great tips on local placed to eat and visit. The apartment was just what we expected really; it had all the facilities we needed. Very well equipped kitchen and bedrooms with good beds. We felt there was also good privacy even though all other apartments were occupied. A great experience! We definitely intend to go back!
“Just what we were looking for”
We stayed at Spoleto by the Pool in July 2013. We are a family of four with children aged 1 and 4 who stayed in apartment 4 and grandparents who stayed in apartment 2. We were looking for a self catering apartment with a view and a pool where we could walk to restaurants and could use it as a base to explore Umbria. Spoleto by the Pool did all that we wanted. The pool is the highlight. Fabulously clean with a great view. The infinity wall kept our one year old mesmerised and the roses and lavender at the edge made it very picturesque. The apartments are a good size and the kitchen very well equipped. Beds were comfortable and the apartment clean. The terrace for apartment 4 could accommodate all of us. We could not see the view from our terrace but we had the shade. If we wanted a view we would eat down by the pool terrace or by the BBQ area. The apartments are up a hill with a couple of hair pin bends. It took us (well me wearing 1 inch platforms 10 minutes to walk down and 15 minutes to walk up) and is perfectly doable. I recommend a torch if you walk up in the dark but we managed without when we forgot the torch. After eating in Spoleto it was probably a good thing to have the walk home. Central Spoleto is about a further ten minutes from the bottom of the hill. One tip is to walk into Spoleto before the escalator shuts (8pm in July). It is a flat walk to the escalators which take you up to the Cathedral and then the rest of Spoleto is a down hill walk. Laurie and Norma have left an excellent guide in the apartment to Spoleto, its restaurants and environs which we referred to repeatedly. If Laurie tells you to go to Castelluccio because the wild flowers are out then go as you will not be disappointed. All in all Spoleto by the Pool was excellent value. We don't tend to go back to places as there is always somewhere else to explore but we could make an exception for here. We had a great time.
“Lovely apartment with pool in sunny Italy”
Very well equipped and clean apartment and pool. Laundry on site for your own use, free of charge. Nice hot tub too. Great if you need a place to relax with a pool. Spoleto a lot bigger than we expected and lots to see! Car required as apartment at top of steep, country road - but town and shops very close by. Hosts very friendly and helpful when there were any problems, but we were left to get on and enjoy our holiday which we really appreciated. Would recommend to anyone who is happy to drive - Italian drivers a bit crazy!
We stayed at apartment 5 for 2 weeks in July 2012 with 2 little children. It was a very nice stay. The views are magnificent. Pool is large and well cleaned. If you are with small children, it's advisable to have a car as the accomodation is situated on a hill. Supermarkets nearby and if you park your car just at the end of the road you can easily go to central Spoleto by foot. To reach the top, you can also take the escalators. Nice restaurants, friendly people, nice town. We very much enjoyced our stay!
“Wonderful stay in Spoleto”
We had a very enjoyable stay here with our 2 daughters. Laurie is always available if there's anything you need to know or need any help. The area is beautiful, wonderful view from the pool and BBQ area, all are kept very clean and tidy. Nice walk into town, where there is lots to see and do. The apartement is very nice with enough space for 4, the only downside being a very small showerspace. But apart from that, we loved it!
“incomparable Umbrian experience”
We come here every summer and spend a month in a place that is at once nestled in the Umbrian countryside and so close to Spoleto we walk in for dinner. The views here of the valley up toward Montefalco and assisi are extraordinary, the pool well kept and refreshing, the apartments -- each has its own kitchen and modern bathroom -- comfortable and cool. Just down the hill is the coop supermarket, where you'll be able to buy fresh produce and meats and cheese and wine to bring back for dinner, while a ten to fifteen minute walk beyond are terrific restaurants inside the walls of the old city. If there's a complaint we have, it's that the Jacuzzi seems to be on the blink each time we come -- we've been three years in a row -- and the repairs take a little longer than we'd like; and the grounds seem at times a bit overgrown (perhaps the walkways and stairs ought to be swept a bit more often). We're americans, so we're used to shower stalls that are a bit larger and more enclosed, too. But this is a wonderful place we have come to consider something of a home, and we will continue to come back every year.
