Very Good

“Amazing location, beautiful apartment!”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2014

The apartment was amazing! It was in such a great location, within walking distance to everything we wanted to visit, and easy to get to via bus. Derek was extremely accommodating and met us early to let us in, and very quickly and efficiently informed us of everything we needed to know, and had great notes for us on places to eat, where to get groceries, etc. The apartment had everything you could possibly need, and plenty of space! When we come back we will definitely contact Derek again!! Thanks for helping make this part of our trip outstanding!!

“Great apartment in a wonderful location!”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2013

For many years, I have wanted to visit Edinburgh during the Christmas season and went to tripadvisor to do my research, and as usual, they didn't let me down. I found this apartment on the site, and between the description and the wonderful reviews, I knew it would be the place for me. It was everything as advertised and more! The location of the apartment could not be any more convenient for someone who wanted to be right in the middle of the "Royal Mile" and directly across the street from St. Giles, where I attended both Christmas Eve services. There was so much to see and do - and mostly all within walking distance. Edinburgh is one of the best places to walk around - especially from where this apartment is located. The Palace of Holyrood House to the east and Edinburgh Castle to the west were great in of themselves, but, with the German Market, Greyfriars, and various historical sites nearby... and not to mention the many and various wonderful restaurants and shops, the location could not have been better. The apartment itself was as described - very comfortable, with all the amenities I could want. The owner Derek was just as wonderful as previous reviewers had pointed out and made sure everything was as it should be - it just could not have been easier "checking in" and "checking out". Two highlights for me with the apartment was the WiFi that was included and that there was a binder that had every instruction manual for any of the appliances in the apartment - very thoughtful. I could not recommend this apartment enough - just perfect!

Doesn't come more central than this at very reasonable price, owner was there to show us around and was very helpful. Apartment was bigger than it looked on the site, tastefully furnished & warm.

“Great central location”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2012

The place was right in the centre of the royal mile and fringe festival, and brilliant for viewing through the window... the owners are really friendly and helpful and we had a great couple of days in Edinburgh, thanks.

“Advocates Close - PillowStops”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2012

My wife, son and myself stayed in Edinburgh for several days at this fantastic apartment on the Royal Mile. It is spacious and nicely updated. We couldn't have asked for better while visiting this great city. A bonus - the owner is trustworthy and honest too boot.

“you couldn't be more central and with all the comforts of home!”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2011

A well appointed, comfortable, contemporary apartment in a historic setting located in the famous advocate's Close, opposite St Giles Cathedral. A restful hideaway within the vibrant bustle of the Royal Mile, the heart of the city of Edinburgh . The imposing Castle, Princess St and Gardens, railway station, galleries but also to the trendy Grassmarket on our doorstep. Very clean throughout and having almost all the amenities you could possible require. Nice touch having the pint of milk and orange juice in the fridge and the "welcome basket” with tea, coffee, sugar and shortbread biscuits was much appreciated. There were many extras including leisure and tour books, Dvds, and CDs. The apartment provided very useful "need to know" information about bus routes, using the appliances in the flat and also by the kind and helpful owner Mr.Derek Gibb (nearest shops, how to get the wifi, sights, etc). It was a bit noisy at night and early morning, but that was to be expected given its extremely central location and also reminded us that "Edinburgh is what Paris ought to be' as the writer Robert Louis Stevenson said ! Overall, choosing Pillowstops' Advocate's Close apartment for your stay in Edinburgh would be a very good value for money solution with all the comforts of home in this very sought after holiday location.

“Ideal location to get the best from the Festival & Fringe”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2011

A very comfortable place to spend a few nights working one's way intensively round the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe. During the day you can gaze out of the window at the changing street performers on the Royal Mile, then nip off and see a performance, come back for a snack or meal and do the same again (and again). The only downside is that it is noisy at night and in the early morning; so take some ear plugs! Recommended; we will use it again.

“Super location, but really hard to find!”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2011

We loved staying at Pillowstops. It was great location as right out your door step was streets filled with performers, and a short walk was the castle, which we visited many times. I found the downside was finding the aprtment. I really felt like the host should have met us at a central point and walked us to where it was. We spent over an hour lugging our heavy suitcases up and down the royal mile looking for it. When he called us and gave us dirrections, it made it even more difficult to understand. He was very helpful though in every other aspect. The apartment was also very loud during the festival month. We had to keep the windows shut most of the time because otherwise it was like we had a band in our living room. More fans would have been good to keep the place cool.

“Brilliant Flat, exceptional position, and welcoming hosts”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

The flat is ideally placed for Edinburgh whether going to the Festival or just visiting Edinburgh. It is extremely well decorated and maintained and you get a great welcome from the hosts. Thoroughly recommended.
