Casa MacMello Vancouver Get Away

Casa MacMello is a self-catering studio suite in the heart of Vancouver's funky Commercial Drive district, close to a transportation hub. The Skytrain is a few moments away and connects to downtown and the airport, and the 99 B Line Bus goes out to the University of British Columbia. Our place is right on the bike path with easy access to downtown by cycle.The suite is completely private, has a bathroom with shower, a TV, wireless internet, fridge and microwave. It is situated in a beautiful garden and has a private sun deck. Many restaurants, shops and theatres are close by for your enjoyment. This space is suitable for a single person or a couple. There is off street parking near the property and a designated spot if required. There is a $50 cleaning fee after each visit, with a two night minimum stay.

Casa MacMello provided my wife and I complete solitude while being close to all the exciting activities on Commercial avenue, no doubt one of the neatest streets in the world. The "cottage" was comfortable as was the always important bed for any vacation stay, anywhere. All necessities were provided and we would highly recommend Casa MacMello for any Vancouver visitor he wants privacy and location as high priorities.

My partner and I stayed at Casa Macmello for just two nights and wish we could have extended our stay. It was really a very charming guesthouse with lots of character. The owners, Kathleen & Stan were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful whenever we had questions or requests. It was an incredibly comfortable stay and we will not hesitate to recommend Casa Macmello to any of our friends/family who might visit Vancouver in the future. Thanks for the pleasant experience!

From my arrival onwards, both Kathleen and Stan made me feel very welcome and helped me settled in. The property is akin to a granny flat at the bottom of their garden and feels very homely. The decor is lovely and if you run out of reading materials on your trip, they have plenty to choose from in their extensive book collection. The area itself has great character and quite an alternative scene. There are lots of eateries to choose from (and Stan made some great recommendations), plus the Skytrain is so close by that getting around the city is very easy. This is really my idea of the perfect place to stay.

Near Commercial Drive, and the Skytrain station, but with the calm of a nice residential house. Lovely B&B; which allow to be totally independant. Very smart place and wonderfull owners. I could only recommend to contact and meet Kathleen and her husband. Always good advices. An excellent place to stay for a travel in Vancouver. --- Juste à côté de Commercial Drive et de la station de Skytrain, mais avec le calme d'une maison d'un beau quartier résidentiel. Très joli B&B; qui vous permet d'être totalement indépendant. le tout dans un cadre magnifique, et de surcroit des propriétaires très sympathiques. Je ne peux que recommander de prendre contact et de connaitre Kathleen et son époux qui sont toujours de bons conseils. Casa MacMello est un excellent lieu ou dormir pour un voyage sur Vancouver.

A great place when in Vancouver, Commercial Drive area. Bed and bedding are quality, bath and shower fine, entertainment (TV, DVD, cable) top notch, fridge and microwave clean and working, heating can keep up with fridged winter temperatures. Only slight problem is parking. Stringent laws require a visitor to park overnight a block away and in daytime changes to a two-hour limit.

Stayed two days in October. Lovley studio in a great location close to commercial drive. Easy access to the sky train and an easy walk to all amenities. Kathleen thank-you for your hospitality. We will be back and will recommend to freinds and family.

My boyfriend and I travelled from the US to Vancouver for the first leg of a 10-day Pacific Northwest vacation. We looked and looked for a nice non-chain hotel/lodging. This bungalow was perfect for us. It was on a quiet residential street, but only one block from a major commercial street and just two blocks from the train station. (As first time visitors to Vancouver, we didn't know what to expect about ground transportation. So let me tell you...having the train station two blocks away was heaven!) The room was well equipped with distinct living areas. The sleeping nook had a very comfortable queen sized bed, night stands and bed lamps. The living room area had couch, chairs, throw blankets, book shelf with a good selection of maps and travel guides, and large plasma tv. There was also a dining table, microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker with cups, spoons, plates, etc. The bathroom was newly updated with a standing shower and nice vanity with a hair dryer and toiletries. During our stay, the weather was fairly chilly (around 50-60 degrees F during the day, and cooler at night). The room had a nice high ceiling fan and electric baseboard heaters which worked well. The owner, Kathleen, was very responsive to my email questions and allowed us to drop off our luggage early and pick it up after we "checked out” due to a later flight. My only negative comment would be that the price ($125 CAD/night) was equal to many of the bed and breakfast properties I researched. So at a B&B we would have gotten a full breakfast included, and here it was just coffee. I couldn't find any openings at a B&B for the dates I wanted, so we chose Casa MacMello instead. But once we saw the place, it was very cute and suited our needs perfectly. Plus we got to try a different local breakfast eatery each day. All in all it was a great place, and I would certainly recommend it to friends.

we liked everything about casa macmello. very clean, comfortable accommodations. convenient location near the skytrain station and 99 bus line and friendly, helpful host. private entrance is nice. rather easy to get to by car from the canada 1 highway, with free parking at the end of the block. the neighborhood is student/funky, with interesting shops and exotic (napalese and ethiopian) and not so exotic (Starbucks, macdonlds) restaurants. this is good, because breakfast is not offered. my only quibble is that the wifi was rather weak. all in all a great place to stay in vancouver.

Casa MacMello is a quiet, private space with a good living area, comfy bed, basic kitchenette, sunny private rooftop deck, & tiny bathroom (water is plenty hot, and toiletries are provided), all set in a lovely treed garden (complete with squirrel) behind a wonderful old Vancouver 3 or 4 story home. Stan and Kathleen offer warm hospitality, balanced with privacy. Yes, the kitchenette is basic, but all food needs are catered for nearby: cafes/restaurants and bars on the Drive, or check out the organics depot or Trout Lake Farmers Market if you want to stock up. ... *** ... Casa MacMello was a great little base for our one-week Vancouver stay, especially as we like to explore by bicycle and it is on the 10th ave bike route, and Stan and Kathleen kindly lent us their bikes when they discovered our passion for cycling. (You can get a bike-route map from "Bikes on the Drive" and find your way to downtown easily.) If biking's not your thing: take the SkyTrain - just 2 minutes walk to the station and a few minutes later you are down town. It is also very close to the 99 bus to University Grounds where the Museum of anthropology is worth a visit. ... *** ... We had a great stay and recommend Casa MacMello to anyone who wants to experience Vancouver life "locals-style". :))
