Very Good

“Awesome cottage with spectacular views”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2016

Great cottage situated far enough from town to feel remote yet close enough to run in for supplies if the small local shop doesn't have them. Beautiful hiking right from the house and many beautiful places within a 2 hour drive. The owners Lisa and Hauker are very helpful with advice of things to do and see. We saw the Northern lights our last night because they were thoughtful enough to text and tell us when to look for them. I would definitely book this place again!

“Tranquil cottage with an amazing view”

Reviewed 11 Mar 2015

We stayed here in February and had a really special time. The children were wowed by all the things Iceland has to offer, geysers, spouting steam vents, frozen waterfalls, lava fields, volcanoes etc, but probably one of their best memories will have been playing around the frozen lake by the cottage. We loved the view of it from the cottage every morning. We also had the Northern Lights coming out to play while we stood on the verandah, a wonderful experience for all of us. We did have some winter Icelandic weather to deal with but Anna Lisa and Haukur looked after us wonderfully and made sure that we were all fine. They looked up any information we needed, welcomed us warmly and our kids loved them! We are definitely going back, maybe in the summer where we'll have a heatwave(!!)

“A perfect cottage in which to feel at home.”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2013

This is a perfect cottage in which to feel at home whilst exploring the south west of Iceland. The views across the lake and to the surrounding hills are very special. It is well equipped and has a spacious living area and I would recommend paying the small extra fee for use of the hot tub after a day's trekking in the mountains or driving around the fjords. Iceland's highest waterfall, Glymur, is nearby and is well worth the walk. Haukur and anna Lisa, the hosts, are very helpful and friendly and we very much enjoyed our time in their summerhouse.

“Absolutely Brilliant!”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2013

We were lucky enough to stumble across the cottage accidentally which became the basis of our trip to Iceland. Haukur & Anna Lisa were just fantastic hosts, very kind & hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. As for the cottage, it is a very special place. The photographs on the site give you a nice idea, but believe me, very difficult to do justice with photos. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking and the cottage itself is very well maintained, cosy, comfortable and very private. I can see it would be perfect, whether for families or a small group - or just couples like us trying to get away and enjoy Iceland. The hot tub is also a great finishing touch! Haukur & Anna Lisa, thank you so much for a fantastic stay, we definitely will not forget our trip and sincerely hope to be back in the near future!

“Peace and tranquility”

You will find it here. Never tired of the awesome view. Fishing was great so we had nice trout dinners. Hiking good locally, but also good location to go out and explore Iceland. On back route to Thingvillatn and Geysir so easy day trip. Only negative is that rooms are very small, but maybe not noticeable to those from Europe. No problem for as as a couple, but would seem tight for a family. Anna Lisa and Haukur were great hosts!!! Don't be afraid to ask them as they will try to help you out on anything you need.

“Great and quiet place to stay with a great view”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2011

We were 4 in the lovely cottage of anna Lisa and Haukur. The cottage is situated near a lake with a great view on it and mountains around.Beautiful! The place is very quiet and we could easily forget our busy lives in Paris. We had a really great time there. The cottage is very well equiped and the garden and the sundeck are great. The hot pot is of course the best place to be after a long day of visit :-) The cottage is ideally situated to explore Reykjavik and its surrundings, the Golden Circle, and the Snaefellsness. In addition, we were lucky enough to have a great weather during the wholde 10days we stayed there. It was warm and sunny enough to have breakfast on the sundeck! I strongly recommend this cottage for people who want to relax and explore this part of Iceland.

“Breathtaking and Relaxing Vacation!”

Reviewed 30 May 2011

You really can't appreciate the pristine beauty and breathtaking sights of Iceland unless you experience it first hand. We were very lucky to secure accomodations in Mosfellsbaer at anna Lisa's cottage by the Lake. The accomdations were clean and comfortable with the comforts of home. The view was beautiful as the cottage was nestled in a valley with perfect views of the lake and surrounding countryside. The porch provided many nice moments for reveling in nature's beauty. Perfect for quiet reflecting or enjoying a book. We ventured out to Pingervellir National Park, the Geysir and Gulfoss (most breathtaking waterfall)and made a trip going to Langjokull Glacier which left us awestruck. We drove into Reykjavik for some shopping and ended the day relaxing in the amazing Blue Lagoon. Anna Lisa and Haukur where gracious and helpful hosts. The hottub on the porch is a welcomed reprieve after an exhiliarating day of adventure. Perfect for relaxing and gazing up at the stars. The cottage provides a quiet retreat for those that want to get away from it all but is in close proximity to all the major attractions. We hope to return soon.

“Wonderful holiday !!”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2010

Thank you for the perfect cottage getaway !! We first discovered the cottage over the internet last September when we visited for three nights. We fell in love the place and promised we would visit again soon. We did !! In June 2010 we returned and everything was just perfect, exactly what we expected. The cottage was spotless and stocked with everything you would expect and the hot tub was ready to go ! Beautiful surroundings along with total peace and quiet, incredible to be so close to the city yet feel so far away. We couldn't wait to get out and hike Mount Esja, which is right out front and then come back for a hot tub and cozy fire. We would recommend this cottage in a heartbeat and hope to visit again soon ! Thank you anna Lisa and Haukur for sharing your special place !

“Experience to Remember”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2010

This cottage is so "homely" the scenery/views are breathtaking our only regret is not having more time to spend here. The jacuzzi and log fire are great finishing touches to the cottage. Lisa & Hauker are very friendly and helpful.

“Peaceful, tranquil, holiday experience”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2010

This is an exceptional cottage, complete with view over the lake, and a hot tub! The cottage was warm and very comfortable, and had everything required - and more. The hospitality shown by anna Lisa and her husband was exceptional, and they could not have done more to make us feel at home, and gave us advice re shopping etc. My husband and I will definitely return.
