“Exactly what we were looking for...”

Reviewed 13 Dec 2013

My wife and I just returned from a week long stay and I highly recommend the Casita to any couple looking for a relaxing and quiet place to stay near San Pedro. The Casita (modern and updated) looked exactly like the photos and videos posted. The fully furnished kitchen, drinkable tap-water, and satellite TV made us feel right at home. Its location on the south end of the island is a quiet area, and being on the southern end (as opposed to north of San Pedro) puts you several miles closer to Ho Chan Marine Sanctuary, excellent flats fishing islands south of ambergris, as well as the the mainland port for ruins trips. Translation = Since Trip companies pick you up from your dock, this means much shorter boat trips for most activities! The owner Wolfgang lives upstairs in the main house and is a excellent host. His day 1 tour of the island and San Pedro quickly got us oriented, and his restaurant recommendations were spot on. The Groundskeeper/Concierge Elton was also very helpful. He kept the beach nice and clean and helped us organize our trip to the mainland to see the Mayan Ruins. If you choose to stay here, Wolfgang's dog's (especially Cookie) will be your constant companions. Quite possibly the most laid back and friendliest dog I've ever seen, if you don't fall in love with Cookie by the end of the trip, then you don't have a soul:) Getting into town from the Casita is about a 12-15 minute golf cart ride (I highly recommend renting a cart), with plenty of local spots for groceries, fruit, alcohol, and food-to-go available along the way. If you are a fisherman, the Casita has excellent wading flats to the North and the South where I had no problem spotting and catching tailing bonefish. We loved our stay at the Casita and will definitely return!

“A gorgeous place to stay”

I wanted 'something to remember' with this vacation trip to San Pedro, Belize...Casita Buena Vista exceeded all expectations! This place is an unbelievable existing postcard! Everything in the apartment/mini-house is completely up to date and impeccable in taste...the bathroom is truly unbelievable. There are huge windows all the way around giving great views; especially in the bedroom and the back screened in porch which both give you gorgeous views of the ocean and sunrise, which we used every morning to enjoy our morning coffee and email reading...off of the provided wifi. If you happen to be in need of anything, all you had to do was ask the proprietor, the grounds keeper, or maid...whatever you needed, it was quickly provided!!! This included fresh coconut water pulled down from the trees and opened in front of you!!! You just cant imagine a better place!! Snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding were all provided; theres also guided snorkeling/exploring trips and the most quaint town, San Pedro; which are all the lil extras that just make you wish you never had to leave!!! I will be returning to Casita Buena Vista!

“Best vacation ever”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2013

We just returned from our one week vacation at the Casita Buena Vista. This place is amazing! All the information that was provided by Wolfgang was true and exceeded our expectations. The location of his house and the casita is really the best on the island. The casita was spotless and equipped with everything you need. Wolfgang gave us great tour around the San Pedro area and was very helpful during our entire stay! We also were very happy with Eldon and Myrta. Eldon was around the property every day and pretty much catered to all our needs and wishes. He also recommended to us best snorkeling and fishing trips and guides. We didn't use his recommendations for deep fishing trip and we really regretted it. The company that took us didn't fulfill all their obligations and we felt shortchanged. Wolfgang stepped up and helped us to reconcile the situation. He is very well known on the island and can definitely be helpful in these kind of situations. I cannot imagine better way to spend vacations if you like adventure and new experiences. I would recommend this place to all my friends!

“Beautiful Island, Great Lodging”

Reviewed 2 May 2013

We had such a wonderful stay at Casita Buena Vista. From the time we landed on the island to our departure Wolfgang and his staff made sure we had everything we needed and helped us find the special items and experiences we wanted on our vacation. This was our second stay at the Casita. We brought our 4 year old son this time and he was right at home. The beach and the sea were a perfect babysitter while we relaxed reading in the lounges available there. The people of Belize are the friendliest I have met on any vacation. Even the vendors are friendly and simply move on when you tell them "no thank you" as apposed to other locations where they have harassed us. We had fun on trips with Souya Tours and their guides took extra special care of our little boy while snorkeling so that we could enjoy the snorkeling too. I hope we can return to Casita Buena Vista again.

“Awesome vacation!”

We had a great time with Wolfgang and his dogs and was really surprised with the nice and attentive staff, Eldon and Mirta. We stayed in the Casita and the interior is huge! Lots to do and town was close. I don't recall even turning on a TV as we always had something to do whether it be just sitting on the beach, snorkeling out front and at the reef, enjoying the company of his others guests or simply sitting around with a favorite beverage. We also did a lot of exploring with the cart. If we plan another trip to Belize, this is where we will stay!

“Everything we'd hoped for.”

Lovely setting. Quiet. Splendid beach. Casita is first-rate. Comfortable. Spacious. Private. This is not Wailea or a Five Star Hotel (though one is a couple hundred yards up the beach) it is much more low-key and totally hang loose. Wolfgang is a marvelous host. Having the owner on the premises is, for us, a plus and when the host is as accommodating and gracious as Wolfgang that's an added bonus. Quick to solve any problem and eager to share his island with us we felt welcome from the beginning and all during our ten day stay. The grounds are tidy. The casita immaculate. Eldon and Mirta are friendly and likewise welcoming. Couple of miles south of bustling San Pedro the location is situated in an excellent neighborhood. Should we return to ambergris it would be mainly to enjoy the hospitality Wolfgang provides. Highly recommended.

On our first visit in 2o13 we stayed a whole month at the casa buena vista and could not have found a better home away from home with owner Wolfgang and co-owner Cookie- not to mention the support of Merica & Eldin who spoiled us every day, its the perfect team to welcome you and maintain a great relationship to make your stay a wonderful experience. Thanks to all of you Oleta & John

“Best snorkling ever!!”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2013

We spent two weeks at Casa Buena Vista ,Guesthouse. Wolfgang, Eldon and Mirta make you very welcome and are very helpful with anything and always ask if we need anything. It is a good location, we only had a golf cart for one wee, but you are only a 30 minute walk along the beach to a really good bakery and a good restaurant across from it, also 3 restaurants within 5 to 10 min. walk and a little store with almost anything you would need in it. we booked two tours with Suya Tours. You are only a 6 minute boat ride from the most beautiful snorkling, coral gardens , nurse sharks and many turtles. The boat driver comes in with you and explains the names of the coral and different kinds of fish. We have snorkled at many different islands and this has been the best I have seen. Thanks again to Wolfgang, Eldon and Merta for the great hospitality...

“Exceeding expectations”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2012

It's been years since we have been able to take a vacation beyond an occasional weekend getaway. Our choice to go to Belize was a bucket list wish. Our selection of Casa Buena Vista on ambergris was something between great luck and destiny. The accommodations were perfect, the staff treated us like family and our time spent there was nothing less than spectacular. Our goal was relaxation and decompression. While there is much to do in terms of activity and we could have filled the days being busy we did nothing but relax, eat, drink and make new friends. It was perfect!

“Absolutely Fantastic!”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2012

It was everything we dreamed it would be and more. Spectacular waterfront property with incredible snorkeling right off the private beach and yard. Wolfgang showed us around the town which gave us a great idea of what a fun and exciting island adventure we were in for. He was a wonderful host and his staff could not have been nicer. He even had fresh lobster delivered by golf cart to the house whenever we wanted it. Casita Buena Vista is a luxurious and comfortable "Home-Away-From-Home" that we highly reccommend to everyone. We can't wait to come back!
