“Home away from home”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2010

This past September was the second year in a row we spent 2 weeks in #2 White Caps Cottage. The reason we return to this particular cottage? Close to the beach and pet friendly!! Other key features we enjoy at this place are: the outdoor shower, bikes to use, washing machine/dryer in unit and on premises, small complex (only 8 units in this complex) so there is no noise or car traffic and a responsive owner. The unit has all the equipment needed for a comfortable stay -- fully equipped kitchen, small bath - but place to put your toiletries, separate bedroom, out door chairs on which to dry towels or put your new collection of shells gathered from the beach. Best of all is you fall out of bed, out the back door and a few steps later you are viewing the sparkling waters of the expansive of ocean. Great for an early morning glimpse of the glorious sunrise or running down to catch the sun just dipping below the horizon as it sets for the evening -a popular event shared by other vacationers. For those who are "homebodies" there are books, puzzles and TV for entertainment.

“Charming and Private”

Absolutely lovely and charming 'hand decorated' bungalow steps from the beach, sun and waves. Owner has plenty of towels, beach chairs and bicycles for use; bungalow porch is sunny and cheerful. Excellent privacy, efficient and well appointed kitchen, cosy living room and bedroom. Easy access in small adjoining building to laundry. Best location on the island; quiet and low key area yet a beach walk to a couple of cozy beach bars and eateries. Great shelling; lots of interesting sea birds and dolphin sightings morning and evening. Beautiful Sunsets! Easy fun bicycle ride to great stores/eats off the main road. We always love staying there!

“Our stay was so very peaceful and relaxing.”

What a wonderful place to find peace and quiet. We had an amazing time. The cottage is very clean, well set up and quite cozy. It is so nice to wake to the sound of the surf and have the beach just steps away. Our favorite time to walk along the beach is just as the sun is setting. We will definitely visit again.

The service was very attentive, when needed. The quaint nature of the setting took you back in time, to a slower lifestyle. Walking out the door and seeing the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico jump started your day, and the sound of the surf in the evening was a perfect end to a perfect day.

“Perfect!”

Satyed at this adorable, quiet, ocean view bungalow with my 2 sisters for a get away week. Loved, loved, loved it!!! Sat down by the waves by day, took long walks on the beach, watched the sunset while singing our favorite abba songs on the front porch in the evening. So comfortable- a real get away! Very laid back, not fussy! Had the very best time in a magnificent oasis!!!

“Simply Magnificent!”

We simply loved our stay! This charming bungalow offers the comforts of home and serenity of island life. The place is up to date with amenities and has some great bonuses - adirondack chairs on the porch, outdoor shower, two complimentary bikes (rentals that usually cost in upwards of $40/wk) and on site washer/dryer. The unit is clean, bright and very well kept too. The inside is furnished like a tropical oasis, reminded me of Tommy Bahama home decor - modern yet chic. The beach is a hop, skip and a jump - you can wake up hearing the waves! It truly is beachside living. And the best thing about the beach is it is never crowded. The bungalow is on the west end of the island - best place for shelling. I found so many incredible shells! Plus you see a lot of wildlife (make sure you look closely) - gopher turtles, pelicans, cranes and dolphins. And if you are a foodie it is also located close to the best eating establishments - Doc Fords, The Grill, Twilight Café and Timbers (we like The Grill the best - it's where all the locals hang out). It is a such a lovely bungalow and a wonderfully relaxing island. What a magnificent vacation - we can't wait to go back!

We have stayed in the Kreters cottage many times and found it to be very attractively decorated and a really cute cottage right on the beach. We would definitely recommend it!
