“Very comfortable cottage in Provence”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

We had a week at this cottage in Merindol, in the Luberon. We really enjoyed our stay. The property had everything required to make our stay most pleasurable. We were only two but there is plenty of room for another four. Plenty of bathrooms/toilets and a very good laundry. The location is great, in a quaint village which itself has plenty to offer - boulangerie, boucherie (x2), small supermarket and a variety of very good and friendly restaurants and cafes. It is to a short distance away from many of the beautiful villages of provincial France and reasonably close to many markets. So there is plenty to do if you want to look around the locality and, should you want to relax at home, then the very large living space and the pool make this ideal. There is a great view from the kitchen and associated terrace and also the main bedroom. There were many road side fruit & vegetable stalls on the roads in and out of Merindol with local produce particularly melons, cherries, other stone fruit and tomatoes available. In fact these stalls were generally better in terms of quality than the markets, for this type of produce. We used the BBQ when not dining out and this was in great condition and easy to use. Communication with the owners was easy and friendly, as it was with the neighbours. A thoroughly delightful place. The only drawback for older renters might be the stairs; there are quite few. However these really do not detract from the property; in fact they add to its quaintness. Sandflies/midges are common in the area but can be kept at bay with appropriate repellants. The house does have screens on most windows which is a help.

“Faboulous place”

Reviewed 1 May 2014

I went with my 2 kids, 4 and 9 years old. They cried when we had to leave. We loved the place, we could not have enough. The location is perfect because you are short driving distance away from all the pearls of the region and the Mediterranean. The village is authentic small and safe. Kids were happy to explore the village on their own. Local restaurants were satisfying. But the best of it all, was this magnificent home with all the amenities and comfort one can think of. We are definitely coming back.

“Perfectly located home in Provence”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2013

Great to spend a couple of days at this comfortable, well equipped house, relaxing by the pool and shopping in the village for local produce. This house is also perfectly located for exploring hill top towns and the coast beyond. If you are tall or can't handle steps, this place is not for you. But for us, it was perfect.

“relaxing and easy”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the house. Everything in place to make the experience comfortable. Very suitable for grown up family as the house is spread over several floors making it spacious and private. Pool and air conditioned bedroms welcome in augus. Courtyard area of pool not overlooked and private. Shade perfect. Very close to shops as well as start of walks up into the hills. Owners on hand for any queries.

“Perfect Family Holiday Rental”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2013

Our family of five (three teens) stayed here for a blissful week in July 2013. The house is absolutely charming and has every amenity needed for a relaxing break. We made great use of the summer kitchen and pool, dining al fresco every evening, except the night it poured with rain which just gave us a chance to use the dining room too. Merindol is a quaint village, you can get everything you need from the small shops in town but there is also a large market in Mallemort, just five minutes drive away. Merindol is a perfect base for exploring Provence, which we did on several days. Just hanging out around the pool and soaking in the peace and quiet of beautiful Merindol is another great way to spend the day. All of our group would highly recommend this property. “Good!”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2013

Thank you for a very pleasant stay in Merindol. We found the location excellent for touring locally, including the beautiful Gordes, Lourmain and Oppede le Vieux, and it was an easy journey for us to spend a day at the sea. The village amenities were great for us - boulangerie, small shop, several restaurants/cafe's - and there were several road side fruit & vegetable nearby with delicious local produce particularly melons, cherries and tomatoes. The accommodation was well provided: clean, comfortable and with the charm of a village old town-house. We enjoyed watching the swallows and swifts from the terrace in the evening sunshine.

“A Gem in the French Countryside”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

We were looking for a larger restored home in a small town in Provence that we could use as a base to explore the surrounding areas. This home fit the bill perfectly. It has been tastefully restored, has every amenity and convenience you could ask for, and is spotlessly clean. It is very private despite being in the center of town. If you are daily shoppers as we are, the nearest boulangerie, epicerie and boucherie are just steps away. There are also some excellent restaurants and cafes in the town. If we were to give a caution to a prospective renter, it would be the stairs. Many of them. However after all the great food and drink you will consume, the stairs will be good for you!

“One Magical Summer Holiday”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2013

I stayed here with my husband and our thirteen year old son in July 2012 for a week and had the most wonderful time. The house itself was very lovely, with many charming period features. I was most pleased at how immaculately maintained the house was, as I have had unfortunate experiences on other self-catered holidays in the past. The local village was delightful, with a range of shops ideal for a self-catered holiday. We love the great outdoors and were not disappointed by the hiking and mountain-biking opportunities available around. The pool + nearby kitchen are ideal for a summer BBQ, and again, both maintained to a high standard. The Luberon valley itself is rich with vineyards and ancient castles and the village is less than an hour's drive from the seaside. The house therefor benefits from the best of both worlds - idyllic country side village, a hop away from the seaside and Marseilles. We will certainly be returning again and highly recommend to anyone!

“Very romantic house in the middle of a beautiful Provence villag”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2012

We spent an absolutely great vacation this summer thanks to this hidden jewel: a great house with all the amenities you wish to have. It starts with breakfast on the lovely terrasse adjacent to the kitchen. Follows a sight seeing tour of the Luberon area with all its beautiful villages, castles and landsacapes, and finally the refreshing swimm in the pool and coctails and dinner at the terrasse on the pool side. You don't need to forgo any of the comfort you are used to have at home: a bathroom for every bedroom, all usual appliencies in the kitchen. barbecue, private parking space etc. In addition you are well received by a very friendly local lady who can give you information about the village and the area.

“Charming and well maintained!”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2012

The villa was charming and well maintained. My family had a wonderful time.  The two kitchens were an excellent bonus as we did most of our dining outside by the pool using the downstairs kitchen. The villa is charming and very provincial and well maintained and clean. The owners are very professional and easy to communicate with. The lady whomcleans the villa is also lovely and helpful. Merindol is a charming small town with everythiing you need and a perfect home base to explore Provence and the Luberon. Also, there is a larger supermarket 5 minutes away in Mallemort for later hours or more variety. We were pleasantly surprised by the enjoyable hike in the hills above the town and up to the castle ruins. The kids had a ball exploring. The views were breathtaking. We have been to France many times but this location provided a unique experience we had never had before. It was thoroughly enjoyable. A car is necessary.
