This little hippy house is very well located being 2 minutes walk to the main square, Place Moulay Hassan.

The house is laid out over 4 floors and cosy enough for a couple yet enough space and privacy if there are 4. The style is very traditional with thick stone walls and original patterned tiles on the floors. It is furnished with a mix of modern 60's pieces plus a few Moroccan artifax thrown in.

You get a feel for the real Essaouira when staying at Dar Emma, there are a handful of Moroccan families living in the small side street, all very friendly and making life a lot more interesting than if staying in a hotel.

Each guest gets a personalised tour of the medina so they can get their bearings and learn about the best places to eat, drink and visit. Our housekeeper Amina is a superb cook and can prepare wonderful food for £12 per head, transport can be organised plus excursions off the beaten track exclusive to us.

Response from the owner Hi Julianne, Thanks for your review, I take all reviews seriously but am slightly concerned about Amina's cooking not being good, her cooking is always outstanding, she works with me pretty much with all our clients and on photo shoots and all my reviews are top notch re her food,I wish you had told me at the time as difficult for me to check now. Also if you hadn't wanted cleaning every day all you had to do was let me know, most clients love this service making their holiday less of a chore, I am on call as you know via WhatsApp or e mail to make your stay as lovely as possible so do encourage guests to let me know if there is something they are not happy with. Activities are not pushed on clients just offered, all clients have different budgets but our activities are priced accordingly, these experiences can not be had in the same way without Mohammed or the private location he has. I do remember explaining how you could visit the souk and waterfalls on your own respecting your budget and trying to help but I assure you this would not be the same experience as the trips we offer. Again if you weren't happy with your organic basket I would have removed it had I been notified. Am sorry to hear your experience was not the best but all could have been avoided if you had told me at the time. Thanks. Emma.
