“Very Romantic and Relaxing”

Reviewed 25 May 2012

Podere Patrignone, is a very well managed holiday/vacation destination. Simon and Verity (owners), went to great lengths to make sure ours and other guests stays we're relaxing and enjoyable. Always available, but rairly needed, they have created an "old world charm" and very natural feel to their quiet olive orchard. Whether it's a romantic getaway (ours was our 10th wedding anniversary), a quiet place to retreat and relax, or just a quaint Tuscan "centrally" located place to stay, we highly recommend it. Everything on their website was exactly as advertised! What isn't as highly advertised, but left to us to tell about, is the care and passion Simon and Verity have for making this such a special place to stay. And don't miss the weekly group dinner. Verity goes all out for that, and it's a delicious Tuscan style feast with a wonderful group of people! We can't wait to return!

“A Slice of Paradise”

Reviewed 24 May 2012

We stayed at Podere Patrignone for 5 days in September. It was wonderful to stay in a self contained apartment after 4 weeks of hotels in France. The farmhouse is charming, the apartments are unique and quaint, the countryside was picture perfect and the weather was unseasonably warm. Simon and Verity were such hospitable hosts, yet give the guests their own space. We thoroughly enjoyed the weekly meal Verity and Pam created for all the guests. You must have a car to truely experience all the hidden charms of Tuscany, and everything is so close and the quality of food and wine was impressive. Our favourite memory of staying at Podere Patrignone was sharing sunsets on the terrace with other guests and partaking of good wine, great conversation and so many laughs. We will be back for another slice of paradise.

“Rustic charm and warm hospitality”

Reviewed 24 May 2012

We stayed at Podere Patrignone in the fall of 2011 and sincerely hope to go back again one day. It is just the sort of Tuscan holiday we dreamed of. Very authentic, full of rustic charm, a gorgeous location, and Simon and Verity were extremely warm and welcoming hosts. All the Tuscan villages we wanted to visit were within easy driving distance. If you stay here be sure to take part in the dinner that Verity cooks for all the guests - usually offered once a week. It was great fun and the food was fantastic. They also sell their own olive oil which is the best we have ever tasted. We really can't imagine staying anywhere else in Tuscany that could be nicer than this.

“Relaxing!”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2011

Podere Patrignone is a truly beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Simon and Verity are genial, friendly and attentive yet unobtrusive hosts. The complex is a lovely, rustic haven set within its own woods and olive groves, and is superbly placed as a base for exploring the local towns and villages (and vineyards!!). The weekly "podere meals" are great fun and well worth attending. Also, do not miss the olive oil, which is superb. Podere delivers "exactly what it says on the tin" and all you could ask of a Tuscan retreat, no matter what your age or expectations.

“Everything we expected and more!!”

After 2 previous visits to Italy when we traveled around the country we decided this time to stay in one place for the full 3 weeks. We wanted somewhere central in Tuscany and a place that had "Tuscan atmosphere" After much searching on the internet we decided on Podere Patrignone and were very happy that we did. The owner Simon took great care to eaplain when we booked that this was not a 5 star hotel with all mod conveniences, rather it was somewhat rustic and in the middle of a farming area. Just what we wanted. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Simon and Verity and their dogs. They showed us around the grounds and where everything was located. We instantly knew we had made the right choice. Our cottage La Tinaia was just what we wanted, rustic but clean and with everything you could want provided including some wine, meat, cheese and bread to get us started. We found that everywhere we wanted to visit was within an easy drive (and had no problems with the long hilly driveway). S & V were only too happy to make suggestions on where to visit and which restaurants were the best (and they were right!) We went to Verity's cooking class which was authentic and very well done, we enjoyed eating our food. We also went to the dinner that she cooks at least once a week and it was excellent with good conversation with other guests. The days we did not want to travel out were spent reading or walking around and you could always be sure of a dog to keep you company. Very relaxing and quiet. In summary, it was just what Simon described it to be and just what we wanted. Simon, Verity, their children and dogs were the best hosts possible even having us in their house one night for dinner. Given the opportunity, we we would be be back to Podere Patrignone in a flash. Thanks S & V.

“Fantastic farmhouse villa in Chianti”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2011

In June 2011, our group of 23 family members rented the entire property at Podere Patrignone. My wife and I stayed in the charming 1-bedroom apartment described here - La Tinaia. The whole experience was wonderful! We arrived with high expectations, based on the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, and I'm happy to report that our expectations were exceeded. This is a very old building (15th century) that has been beautifully restored and decorated over the last 30 or so years. It's high up on a hillside with the most amazing view from the large terrace and the swimming pool. The nearest neighbors are distant farmhouses surrounded by picturesque vineyards. The location - midway between Florence and Siena - is very convenient for day-trips throughout Tuscany. Each living space in Patrignone (5 apartments with separate entrances, and the 7-bedroom main part of the villa) has a kitchen and dining area, with a number of outdoor dining spots as well. The kitchens came supplied with some staples (including the property's excellent organic olive oil) as well as food and wine for a light dinner on the first night. Grocery stores are very convenient. Lots of restaurants nearby too, including a good one less than 5 minutes drive. (You definitely need a car here.) While the building and location are splendid, what really makes this a special place are the owners. Simon and Verity are friendly, always helpful, but never intrusive. Their house is separate from the villa, but they are always available to give advice about restaurants, wineries, and sightseeing. I would recommend Podere Patrignone to anyone, whether traveling alone or in a group of 23 or anything in between.

“Perfect Proposal”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2011

Before even arriving at Patrignone, Simon and Verity were more than happy to help me plan out my proposal to my girlfriend. Great location, beautiful grounds and apartments. Best overall experience in Europe so far and one we will remember forever.

“A Vacation to Remember!”

Reviewed 5 Dec 2010

Podere Patrignone is a lovely bed and breakfast perfectly located in the heart of Chianti. My husband took me to Italy for my 40th birthday and I could not have asked for a better present! The grounds and the buildings are lovely. We stayed in Il Forno, which is one of the self-serve rooms at Patrignone. It was small but quite charming and cozy. The kitchenette was perfect and my husband cooked inspired dinners every night. We enjoyed several dinners outside out our private table. The surrounding countryside of olive trees and grape vines is beautiful. We sat most evenings on the back terrace to watch the glorious sunsets, often joined by other guests, enjoying our bottles of wine. We had dinner with the other guests at Patrignone on the night that Verity cooked. The dinner was incredible! She used only the freshest ingredients and the company of the other guests made the meal all the more enjoyable. Simon and Verity were very helpful with directions and giving us ideas for places to visit and things to do. Their hospitality was wonderful. We are definitely going to plan a return trip!

“a wonderful authentic place to come at rest with magnific views”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2010

A wonderful quit authentic place to come at rest at the end of the world with fantastic views and still in the center of the chianti classico The only minus we could find was the rather hot room, where it was difficult to catch sleep after a long warm day, but on the other hand the weather and the accommodation were brilliant, you can't have it all..

“Podere Patrignone was outstanding!”

Reviewed 27 Nov 2010

My wife and I spent 4 days at Podere Patrignone this fall on a vacation from the United States. We had an amazing time! We stayed in a small, cozy one-bedroom apartment which was wonderful - great little place with a comfy bed, a small kitchen, and a wood-burning stove for warmth. The owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and easy with tips and suggestions, and their olive oil was outstanding. The best part was the location: we spent 4 days driving around Chianti and Tuscany - pretty much heading out a different direction each day from the Podere. When we return to Italy, I am sure we'll be staying at the Podere Patrignone again!
