“heaven on earth”
My recent stay at Casa Quintina was actually that good- it's a little piece of heaven, it really is. The views, over the beautiful garden on to the hills, are spectacular. The location is great - far away enough to feel special but close enough to places to not be isolated. The house was lovely. It is obvious lots of work has gone into it. Love and work. It is beautiful. It is also well equipped. Lots of cutlery, glasses, pots and pans... everything you may need in the two kitchens (yes, two). Bedrooms are big and the one with the four poster bed makes you feel like a king/queen of the castle or something! Lots of blankets too which we appreciated in the winter. Shower is lovely, pressure good and water really hot. It heats up really quickly which is more than I can say for my shower at home... My favorite part was either sitting on the veranda in the morning overlooking the hills, or sitting by the fire at night, having delicious local sausages and wine. Can't beat it.
“Authentic Tuscan "Farm House" Getaway”
We had the privilege of staying here last weekend. It was everything we wanted in a winter getaway. The Farm House is rustic, but not rural. There is a peacefulness to the area that is relaxing and the ruins on the property grow your appreciation for the authenticity of both the house and the surrounding farmlands. It was very cold, but the large fireplace and abundance of boardgames provided just the atmosphere we expected. We will be returning!
“A secluded gem with awesome views”
A beautiful rustic place with great views, it's nice and secluded, but an easy drive to Pisa, Florence, Siena, Volterra, San Gimiano etc - perfect for escaping the world, seeing the best of Tuscany (it's crazy beautiful) and late night charades with exciteable players! ;) especially with a great bunch of people and a roaring fire!
“Casa Quintino is a little piece of Tuscan heaven”
Case Quintino is fabulous. The house has been beautifully restored and retains a wonderful Italian farmhouse charm. The rooms are spacious but feel cosy and welcoming. Both kitchens have large tables which are great for long, relaxed meals ... you will want to spend lots of time eating the amazing Tuscan food while you are here. We spent several hours over our dinners next to the log fire. The best bit? The views from the house and the surrounding hills are out of this world. On sunny days you can see as far as the Dolomites in one direction and Volterra in the other. On overcast days, you can still see for miles and the sight of the clouds rising between the Tuscan hills is breathtaking.
“Roaring Fire! Roaring Fun!”
Driving down a dusty road up into the hilly Tuscan landscape emerged this beautiful villa. Looking from the veranda over the garden to the rolling hills and villages, I was instantly relaxed. We had just the weekend so a trip to the local supermarket and my friends and I were set. In the day seeing the ridiculously picturesque villages in the vicinity. At night a large log fire and more wine and cheese that is possible to consume (we managed it...). We all wished we could have stayed the rest of the week. Thank you so much Juliet and anthony!
“A Joyful Winter Stay”
This house is truly a one of a kind. Even in the midst of Winter the terrace is bathed in morning sun and the hills lit up. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place and am now preoccupied with when I can go back!We visited the breathtaking Volterra and San Gimignano as well as sitting by the enormous open fire in the upstairs living area, roasting Tuscan sausages and gorging on wine and pasta. The house is full of love and care and it was an utter joy to stay there. Thank You so much for an unforgettable stay
“Tranquil and beautiful setting to relax in the Tuscan countrysid”
My fiancée and I stayed at Casa Quintino for a week in September 2012. Arriving late in the evening, the house manager Ivana kindly offered to meet us in Volterra and shows the way to the house as it was our first visit to the area. We marked the house on our GPS and had issues finding our way back from later excursions. The setting of Casa Quintino is absolutely stunning - rolling hills of fields, forests and olive trees make was a spectacular view to wake up to or watch the sun set. We stayed in the la stalle lower half of the property which is very spacious and well equipped for a couple to stay a week or more, including a laundry and very large well equipped kitchen. It has been lovingly restored by the owners and retains a lot of rustic charm. It is certainly not comparable to a modern property - no TV or Internet is available downstairs. A couple of issues which were minor and easy to rectify - the place was very musty and with cobwebs (ie in the bedside lamps) we assumed it hadn't been used for a little while. Some dishes/glasses and the bathroom sink weren't clean, some lights didn't work and the plants on the front verandah had died from a hot summer. With a bit of water we had fresh basil from one of them by the end of the week which was great! Some of the fly screens also have some tears/holes which need fixing. Driving time to Volterra was about 25 mins for us - but the roads are windy so it may take longer for others. The location as a base for touring Tuscany was perfect for us and we had a number of great day trips to Pisa, Florence and Sienna.
“Vacation that made Lifelong Dreams come true!”
The stay at Casa Quintino is a dream come true. The place is amazing in every sense of the word. Enjoy an Italian Cooking lesson at the villa! It was one of the many highlights of our vacation and gave us great memories that we will never forget. Watching the sunrise each morning on the patio is truly a spiritual experience. This is a place to get away from it all and reconnect. Need to relax? You can a here. Want to experience the true Italian countryside? You can here. Go and enjoy the towns nearby during the day if you wish. They are minutes away. If you decide to spend the day at the villa, then enjoy a hike around property or a horseback ride thru the hills. This is what we did and it was by far the best vacation we have taken. Where else can you go on vacation and feel at home? At Casa Quintino you can. After all, we did and we will be back.
Response from the owner Wow Mike and Stephanie, What a review! It has given us such pleasure to have guests that have such capacity to enjoy our special place... Thank you and please do come back again. Kind regards, Juliet
“Bella Casa Quintino”
My husband and I took our first trip to Italy and stayed at Casa Quintino renting the lower level. The farmhouse was just as it is pictured on the internet. No surprises! Beautiful, secluded location. We would recommend using a GPS coordinates, and directions from Julie as the roads are not well marked. Also arriving before dark is important as there was no outside light. The view from the back patio is spectacular, a very relaxing place to sit. It would be good to stop at the market on your arrival to get any food supplies you need as the stores close by 7 p.m. We did use the space heater at night in the bedroom. I am glad to see there is a new water heater, as it there was not enought hot water for 2 people to shower. We heard the wild boar in the woods, but didn't see any. The lavender was flowering while we were there. We enjoyed meeting Julie at the outside cafe in San Gimignano and having our first cappuccino. The local cell phone that Julie gave us to use was very helpful. We did take day trips to San Gimingano, Volterra and Florence. We loved the area and are looking forward to our second trip !
Response from the owner A delayed response to tell you about our recent alterations and to thank you for your kind and helpful comments. The outside lights are now in place which makes it much easier coming back later. Also this year we renovated the bathroom upstairs and put in a new kitchen so please come again and see the changes! Sorry you didnt see the wild boar when you were here but last night at least 20 galloped across our headlights on the drive!, so they are definitely around. we also saw four deer and a porcupine the same evening!
The house is just so beautiful, the view is breathtaking, the nearby hill towns (Certaldo, Gambassi Terme, and Montaione for instance) are not crowded and unspoiled. Perfect place to visit if you are looking for some peace and experience of Italian culture and eat wild boar.
Response from the owner Thank you so much Maya. I hope you manage to come back some time in the future. warm regards Tristan
