Large comfy house, all mod cons. Nice rural village setting. We will be back!
Response from the owner Thank you for your lovely comments. We are delighted that you had a lovely vacation and you are most welcome back to our holiday house in the future. Ann
“Beautiful house, gorgeous location!”
Red Sails is a beautiful comfortable holiday house right in the centre of Carna. There is everything you need and the caretaker BB is very helpful. Highly recommended!
Response from the owner Thank you so much for your kind words. We were delighted to have you as our guest in June. Thank you also for leaving the house so lovely. We hope to have you stay with us again sometime. Ann
“Great House and Brilliant Base to explore the local area”
We were a party of 8 (3 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 7 to 13) and stayed in Red Sails for a week in april. The house was very spacious and had everything you would need for a self catering holiday. It was in a great location and we were within driving distance to many great places to visit. During our stay we went to the aran Islands, Clifton, Connemara National Park and Kylemore abbey during. We also visited some lovely beaches. It is also within walking distance of the local hotel where we got lovely food at good prices. I would definetely recommend this house and hopefully will be back again in the future. Deirdre & Co
Response from the owner Thank you Deirdre for your lovely comments. It is wonderful to get such lovely feedback from our guests. We hope to see you in Connemara again. Ann
“Wonderful stay at Red Sails!”
I just can't say enough about Red Sails! Ann has added the extras to make you feel so welcome. It certainly was a home away from home. We were so comfortable and Carna is a beautiful seaside village to relax in after a long day of sightseeing. Bb, the caretaker was a lovely person, enjoyed meeting her. We have done the B&B;'s and hotels on prior trips...first time with self-catering house and loved it.
Response from the owner Many thanks for your lovely comments. I will certainly pass them on to BB. She is indeed a lovely person who is very kind and caring to our guests and is also full of local information. We know how lucky we are to have her meet and greet our guests. Perhaps we will see you in Connemara again some day. Ann
“Great house, perfect location”
We visited the west coast of Ireland to celebrate 40 years of marriage, accompanied by our great friends from Wisconsin USA. 'Red Sails' more than lived up to our expectations from the website description. We were met shortly after arrival by Bibi, the local contact and her husband. They were extremely helpful, a fund of local knowledge and soon talked us through the few practical 'need to know' elements of the house. It was reassuring to know they were nearby and contactable should we experience any difficulties, but thankfully we had no further need to call on them. The house is deceptively spacious and very well appointed. The kitchen is modern and well equipped as is the utility room. Given the vagaries of the Irish weather, it was useful to have a drier! The large living/dining room has an open fireplace and there was a supply of peat logs and firelighters waiting for us. The TV has satellite with UK programmes as well as the local stations. The two en suite double bedrooms have comfortable king sized beds and excellent showers. There are two further twin bedrooms. It is only a few minutes walk to the waterside, but sandy bathing beaches are a short drive away. Carna is perfectly located between Galway, definitely worth a visit, and the beautiful Connemara National Park. A day trip to the Aran Islands was particularly enjoyable. The village has three shops and a couple of pubs, sufficient to fulfil all our needs. The Carna Bay hotel is close by and offers a bar and restaurant, while one of the pubs serves adequate pub grub. There is a useful file of information at 'Red Sails', local maps, directions to beaches and local walks, and the comments of previous guests are interesting and informative. Above all, the house feels like a home with many imaginative touches to the decor. I would thoroughly recommend 'Red Sails' as a superb base from which to explore the delights of Connemara.
“A perfect home base for our vacation”
Lots of "little" touches made this house a perfect base for our vacation. It felt like home from the minute we walked in. Very well kept - spotlessly clean - very comfortable. Multiple bathrooms were appreciated with 6 of us staying there. Modern kitchen along with clothes washer and drier made things very easy for us. Quiet neighborhood - easy walk to grocery store, handy to beaches, and a couple of friendly pubs just up the road. Beautifully rugged area - scenery just begging to be photographed. And if you are a history nut like us, check out the many small but intriguing ancient sites all around Carna - a number of crannogs, for example. Also within an easy drive of the more obvious medieval sites - tower houses, abbey ruins, etc - around Loch Corrib. It's always a gamble when one rents sight unseen, but this house more than met our expectations. We highly recommend it and hope to make a return visit.
