“Linaeus suite, an amsterdam oasis of calm”
I stayed for the second time, during the christmas holiday's, with my 11 year old daughter in the Linaeussuite in amsterdam. I was again pleased by the quiet location. Yet in the centre of amsterdam, with all its musea and attractions (and shops for my daughter) within reach. The suite itself is very welcoming, warm, yet modern. It has a large roof terrace. I will visit it once in the summer, especially for this. New were the remote controls for the heating; adjustable per degree, per room. Speaking about sustainablity! We enjoyed it once again. Well done Linaeussuite. Piet Duizer, Oisterwijk, The Netherlands
On a frequently base we visit the Linnaeussuite during our stays in amsterdam. Every time we are warmly welkomed by host Lidy Knol. The apartment is situated in a quit courtyard, near the tramstop to the city centre. The rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished. Great to unwind! We feel very much at home.
“Perfect and cosy appartement near amsterdam center”
A very nice appartement in a calm and beautiful neighborhood. The appartement itself was very clean and modern with excellent tastes in decoration. The roof terasse is a very special place to watch sunsets on amsterdam. Lidy was a nice person and very welcoming. The only point we feel could be better is the fact theire is no door to completely close the appartement. However the appartement is at the top floor and the owners seem to live in the other half of the building. We couldn't here them at any point. We recommend this place to anyone who would like to spend a few days in amsterdam. Bikes are needed to get in the center in about 10min, or by Tram. We will come again if we come back to amsterdam.
“Perfect place to relax but just a bus ride from the excitement”
Place perfectly described by owner who along with her son were very helpful. Not the place for anyone who cannot manage stairs. Our only regret is that we stayed for such a short time we were not able to read from her collection of books or even make a snack using her tiny but efficient "kitchenette". Bathroom modern and luxurious. Pub around the corner welcoming and the perfect place to have a drink on the way home after a day of exploring.
“Great location out of the hustle & bustle of amsterdam”
We enjoyed our stay at Linnaeussuite. Loved the location - easy walk to the tram that went straight into the centre. Very comfortable apartment with lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Loved the Nespresso machine! Enjoyed morning walks in the beautiful park nearby and the ice-cream shop on the corner! The downside was the 3 narrow flights of stairs, the kitchen in a cupboard and the church bells that rang on the hour thru the night!
The service we had was very good, and the home was very nice. We thought the location to amsterdam was the best, and we have no bad experience with the stay.
I chose this accommodation after reading other, very positive, trip advisor reviews. It's rare to see a guest house with near universal acclaim but this is one of them and it is easy to see why. The location is out of the hustle and bustle of central amsterdam which is nice if you want a quiet start to your day. The location is quiet and residential - with just the gentle church bells of the church across the road from the room to punctuate the quiet. In fact, the main bedroom overlooks the church. Inside, the room has ample living space - it's like having your own one-bedroom flat in amsterdam with a big living area, wonderful modern and spacious bathroom, a balcony overlooking the rear of the property and gardens, even a roof deck for the ambitious (the stairs to the roof are not for the faint-hearted)! There is a small kitchen that you can use to prepare small meals and breakfast as well as Nespresso machine to help with your morning caffeine fix! Lidy was great to communicate with and provided great instructions about where to eat and how to get around amsterdam from the room. I was attending a conference at the RaI conference centre that can be easily reached in just over 10 minutes via the 65 bus that leaves frequently from just a few streets away and stops right in front of the RaI. There is also frequent tram service to the city centre and there are several interesting walks that can be taken. Although I stayed here on business, I suspect I will be back with a more touristic agenda. Anything bad? The only negative is that the entrance is up some very step, winding stairs that might put off some but was not an issue at all for me. Anyone accustomed to European townhouse living would not have an issue. Definitely recommended!
“Fantastic weekend getaway”
Arrived late Friday night due to delays, Mrs. Knol cheerfully waited up for us and even offered us dinner which we politely refused! Location is beautiful, right by a nice park (with De Kas restaurant) and lots of cool little restaurants geared towards locals rather than tourists, but a short tram trip past the zoo into the centre of town. The apartment itself was spacious, well decorated and beautiful, with a south facing balcony and sun room, and rooftop terrace that is spectacular on the mornings with good weather, paired best with the pre-stocked kitchenette (Nespresso capsules and heinekens). All-in-all, I was very content with the decision to stay at Linnaeussuite.
We stayed at Linneaussuite for 3 nights in June 2013, and had a really lovely time there. The apartment is well appointed with a large lounge, bedroom and luxury bathroom, along with a small pantry (including a sink, microwave and fridge). The tram stop is just outside the flat so very easy to get in and out of central amsterdam. Lidy is very helpfull and friendyl. Highly recommended! It was the best accommodation what we were someplace. Thank you!
“Lovely little apartment”
We really liked this place, it is a bit off-center so it's quiet, but still it's close to everything by bike or tram. The apartment is decorated with gusto, and was equipped with everything we needed - along with a fantastic ice-cream shop around the corner. A small kitchen is ok for breakfast or a small meal, the living room is spacious and bright, and there is a nice spot on the balcony, as well as at the roof, for the sunny days. The bedroom is also spacious, with a view to the church. Finally, the bathroom is very big, clean and recently renovated, including all the latest trends in design :) Lidy was very helpful, and she made us feel welcomed. Only negative is the amount of stairs one needs to go up, but that is the case almost everywhere, so I would not recommend this place to people with mobility problems. We'll be coming back! :)
