“Lush surroundings and great view”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2013

My three friends and I loved the Treehouse in Roatan. It's located on a quiet dead-end drive with only a few other houses. The Grandts are really prompt with email responses. They provided fantastically detailed instructions for everything having to do with the house. There were maps and pamphlets with info on island activities that we found especially useful. We even had a welcome basket with snacks which were much appreciated because we stupidly didn't take their advice and do groceries in Coxen Hole on our way to the house. Our favourite part of living in the house was sitting out on the screened porch at dusk and listening to the jungle come alive. We ate almost all our meals there and easily found everything we needed. They didn't have a large selection of spices so I would recommend bringing some of your own if you plan on cooking a lot. The bedrooms were really comfortable. We didn't pay the extra charge for air conditioning and there were only a couple of nights we wished we had. I found the fans and leaving the windows open to be sufficient. The beach at the end of the road is not the best (too many plants) but it's a 15 minute walk to West Bay where the best beaches on the island can be found. We didn't mind walking both ways every day but the water taxis come by often enough if you do. There was one part of the day that we dreaded and it was the walk back from the end of the road to the house. Part of it is very steep and we're lazy Canadians who smoke a lot and aren't used to the heat. So it was a very bad time. We became very envious of our neighbours and their scooter. On the other hand, it was pretty much our only form of exercise so we tried to look on the bright side. All in all, we enjoyed the privacy of the very comfortable and well taken care of Treehouse.

“Island paradise”

Our stay at the treehouse was fabulous. Everything was perfect. Local food, sights and people were accessible and pleasing. Not to mention the best diving on the planet! The house was well equipped and very clean and bright. Huge screened in porch was great for dining. Sunset views were very memorable as well. Adjacent lot has been planted with some fruit and other beautiful flowers making for a lovely atmosphere.

“Perfect!”

My boyfriend and I vacationed here for about 10 days in February and cannot wait to return! This house was very comfortable and had all the amenities you could ask for. It is walking distance from the beach, as well as a zip line and gumbalimba park (which is tons of fun if you like monkeys as much as I do!). Beautiful ocean views from the balcony, where you can relax in a hammock and watch macaws fly over the rainforest. Save money by cooking at home in the full kitchen, or eat at one of many fantastic restaurants in west end or west bay. Take advantage of the snorkel gear provided at the house and check out the gorgeous coral reef. (Or, even better, head over to Tyll's dive shop to go scuba diving!) We absolutely loved this place- I would recommend the Treehouse in Roatan to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway or an exciting adventure (or both)!

“Peaceful stay with beautiful sunset views over the Caribbean.”

Convenient access to both West End and West Bay without having to be right in the middle of the party the entire time. We spent many hours on the top deck swinging in the hammocks and taking in the view while listening to all the tropical birds. We also enjoyed watching the endangered black iguanas that live in the trees around the house. Walking along the beach it was an easy 15 minute walk to West Bay beach as the owner mentions in the ad posting. We would definitely stay at the Treehouse again.

“great location for hiding away”

Reviewed 17 May 2013

The Treehouse was a very safe place to stay. The house has nice ammenities- washer/dryer, A/C, snorkle gear, full kitchen, etc. The screened in porch was perfect for the evenings, I just wish the upstairs was screened in. The security system and safe lock box was an extra load off of my mind. the location is a nice "middle of the road" to the left is a short walk over the bridge to West Bay, and to the right is a nice walk along the beach and over some rocky terrain to West End (which is cheaper and less tourist-y). I stayed there with 2 other girls and I slept on the futon downstairs. The downstairs futon did get a bit uncomfortable after about 3 days of sleeping on it. It would have been nice to have some sort of mattress pad or something for people that stay for longer periods of time- or provide the code for the downstairs apartment. A TV for nighttime would have been nice also- but then again it was nice to not need the TV. The walk up or down the hill to and from the beach wasn't so bad and provided just the right exercise everyday. All in all, Roatan is a wonderful vacation area. Snorkeling, beach bumming, tours, and wonderful weather is what everyone needs once in a while. Thanks Treehouse!

“Best Vacation Ever!”

This was my second stay at the Treehouse... it is clean, quiet, and convieniently located. We had a very relaxing week. I wish I had more time to gush about this place! Can't wait to go back!

“Tranquil”

The Treehouse was a relaxing and comfortable house to stay in. We enjoyed being away from the main activity in the town and beach. It is a short walk or drive to the beach or town. We appreciated that the house was equipped with snorkeling gear. The porch upstairs was very quiet and had a nice hammock. A large iguana resided on the big tree accross from the porch. We named him Horatio. The owners provided a cell phone for our use and it came in very handy.

“Awesome”

Second time at the treehouse. Its simply amazing. Very close to west end and west bay with each area offering a different feel. The screened in bottom porch is a great additionas we did not need to use the aC with the nice breeze we had. Love the treehouse and the island!!!

“Great Time in Honduras”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2011

We loved the house! It was a nice little bungalow that was pretty convenient to most things on the west end of the island. The bed was super comfortable! And we loved the hammocks on the porch!! For the price charged, this was a great house!! A few things to note - the house isn't right on the beach, and the "beach" that it is near isn't really the kind where you can lay down and relax. There is a pier/dock there that you can lay on, but it isn't quite the same feeling as laying in the sand. That being said, it's just a short walk/drive to West Bay, which has an awesome beach and even better snorkeling!! And it's about a 1/2 hour's walk to West End where there's a nice beach too. Or you can take a water taxi to each one (we didn't do this, but saw lots of other people doing it). We dove with Tyll's in West End per Brian & Stacey's recommendation and had a great time! They were very friendly and we really enjoyed hanging out with them in the down time. If we head back to Roatan, we'll surely be staying here!

“scuba training trip”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2010

Our priority was scuba training at Bananarama and this was the perfect place to stay! It was within walking distance...just down the beach about 20-30 minutes. The house was clean, comfortable and well located in a very quiet bit of rainforest. We loved the hammocks on the porch and the sweet, island feel of the Treehouse.
