“A Beautiful & Memorable Vacaction”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2010

We enjoyed this property so much and it's lovely owners!! The grounds are beautiful and it's the perfect location to take day trips Rome, Florence, Siena, Orvieto and all of the other neigboring villages (you will need a car). I highly recommend having the amazing "Delores" cook for you, she kept us fat and happy for days. All in all, we had a wonderful time and were able to visit a part of Italy that we may not have otherwise seen. Thank you anna, Alessandra, Elisa, and Delores!!!

“Beauty everywhere you look!”

Our extended family enjoyed the terraces outdoors. The location was perfect. You needed a car to get to and from the train station. The outdoor pizza oven was a plus! We had authentic italian cooking prepared for us several times during our stay. All fresh ingredients were used. Thanks for the service. We want to go back one day.

“A wondeful way to experience the hill country of Italy”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2010

We have just booked Le Terrae for the third time! Our first visit was in 2000, and it was so great we came back again in 2002. Both times we were with one other couple. The Villa sleeps 8, so this next april there will be 4 couples. We all love to cook, and it is great fun to go to the local market and get all the wonderful spring vegetables (more kinds of artichokes in Italy than you could ever imagine!) and cook glorious meals, including fresh bread and pizza in the wood-fired oven in the back. Le Terrae sits in the middle of an olive grove. It has been in the family of the two sisters who own it for four generations, and their love for the place shows in their care for it and for their guests. The location is terrific. You will need a car, but places like Orvieto, Siena, Assisi, and the wonderful towns all around (we love amelia!) are all accessible and enjoyable in one day each. The little town near the Villa is Vassenello, and you can find everything you need there from day to day. It's a short drive to the larger hill town of Orte. You can park you car their and take a 45 minute train ride to Rome. Florence is two hours to the north,an easy drive or train trip. But just driving around the countryside of Umbria and Tuscany, or just hanging out at the Villa are the best things to do. We cannot recommend this place more highly.

“Our Roman Holiday”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2010

The villa is very unique, with three stories with windows and views that open to the Orte countryside. There is enough space to easily sleep ten. It is conviently located by a 10 minute drive from the Orte train station for 45 minute trips to Rome. For a true taste of the Italian culture, this villa comes equiped with a wonderful welcome dinner from Delores, she and her hsuband Silvio, are a wonderfully warm couple who embraced our family in the true italian way.

“Ciao,You're Family !”

If you've ever dreamed of the perfect Italian villa you owe it to yourself to stay at Le Terrae. Picture a quaint but beautifully cared for home with flowers (yes even in December) at every turn. Imagine walking up the path to the rounded doorway that leads to a remarkably spacious and beautifully furnished interior. Want romance and intimacy? Sit in front of the upstairs fireplace or peer out the master bedroom window overlooking the Italian countryside. Want plenty of room for extended family (we had 8) sit around the spacious downstairs kitchen table. Plus there are comfortable sitting areas all over the house if you'd like to just sit quietly and read a book. Want convenience? The driveway leads directly to the downstairs kitchen entrance and shopping is close by. Be sure to ask for suggestions when you arrive and don't miss the fun of going to the butcher shop. Rome is an hour's ride to the south and the beautiful walled cities (Siena, Assisi, Todi, Spoleto, and more) of Umbria and Tuscany are easy day trips. Florence is about 2 1/2 hours and even the world's oldest independent republic, San Marino, is do-able in a day. Want a picturesque village to get a quick snack, or an incredible meal? Vasanello is five minutes away. Want to be greeted warmly? Anna will treat you like you are part of her family.

“una casa perfetta per le vacanze”

Reviewed 17 May 2010

“The very best vacation ever”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2010

My family dreamed of a vacation in Italy, and this trip beat our expectations. Having a beautiful private villa in the romantic setting was of Orte was spectacular. It was the best of two worlds. The villa itself was big enough for our family of 5 to spread out with everyone having a spectacular view. The villa was immaculate with terra cotta floor tiles which reminds you continually of being in Italy. Relaxing with a glass of wine while sitting on one of the terraces, and looking out on the countryside, was the perfect ending to a busy day. Its location was perfect. We could hop a train and in one hour see the exciting sites of Rome, walk among the crowded streets, and eat in fabulous restaurants. Then we could return to the peace of the villa, away from all the noise, and see the little hillside towns and churches away from all the tourists. We used the villa as a base to return to after a day of swimming in the Mediterranean, or a quick stop at a volcanic lake, or a trip to the numerous sites within an hour of the villa. We would recommend a stay here to anyone who wants a memorable dream vacation.

“Best Family Vacation Ever!!”

I'm so glad I get to share our experience as it truly was the best!! The villa is situated on a large private lot with wonderful views....even from the upstairs bathroom! The bedrooms were all very comfortable and it really felt like you were in a home not a rental property. The owners were very accomodating to our needs. We asked for a cook to prepare some meals after we returned to the villa from touring on a few days. Delores was so friendly and always waiting for us with a wonderful meal. One night she had tables set up under the old oak tree, lights were strung up, candles on the table. We stayed up way past midnight enjoying the wonderful food, the perfect setting and sharing stories from our trip so far. One of our best memories is that night. Wonderful home close to Rome but don't miss some local flavor too in Orte or other towns close by. Some of our best meals out were in small towns close by-owners are great with recommendations! I have recommended this villa to all my friends and family and we are planning another trip back!

“We have to go back to La Terrae!”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2010

It's been years since we visted La Terrae and we just can't get it out of our minds, so we plan to go back again. The beautiful surroundings, the friendly nearby village, the well equipped spacious villa and the great outdoor oven are just some of the reasons we like to call Le Terrae "our Italian home!" It was the perfect place to stay. The villa is within walking distance of the village and a perfect place from which to take day trips by car or train - Assisi, Sienna, Rome, Orvietto to name a few! This will be our third stay at La Terrae - we can't wait!

“Wonderful place to stay.”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2009

As soon as we pulled up to the villa we knew we had picked the perfect place to stay for our Italy vacation. The ivy covered villa and the plants and flowers adorning the terraces were very welcoming. The inside was beautifully furnished for a country home. There were 8 people in our party plus a baby. Everyone was so impressed. We weren't that far from the tourist cities, yet we still had the serenity and peacefulness of the beautiful countryside. Even though there were 8 people there was still plenty of places in the villa to get away by yourself to read or just sit on one of the terraces and enjoy the view. Being away from the crowded cities we were able to see the real Italy. The people were so nice and friendly. The restaurants were great and they made sure we enjoyed our meals. The best food and wine! This was our second time to Italy and we would highly recommend staying at the villa. It is one of our best vacations ever! Anna and Alesandra are so sweet. They even remembered our anniversary. Every thing you could possibly need was provided for us at the villa. Even a baby crib. The meal Dolores cooked for us was fantastic! Anna told us about the annual festival going on in the hilltown of Orte. We really enjoyed it. We also enjoyed taking a leisurley stroll through the park like grounds after a day of sightseeing. The bocce games were a lot of fun too. The towns of Assisi, Bettano, Orvieto, and of course Orte should not be missed. Ristorant da Oliviera in Viterbo was a wonderful experience. We had the maitre'd pick out our meals for us. All 5 courses! Perfect! We miss the villa. It was a magical experience.
