“Fabulous Vacation Home”
There aren't enough words to describe how fabulous Casa alegria is. The pictures don't do it justice. The inside was comfortable, spacious and more than adequate. The living area was open so that we felt like we were together whether we were relaxing, cooking, eating...the bedrooms were large with a great floor plan. The beds were comfortable. All of us slept very well. Everything you would want or need was included including a large gas grill that was cleaned for us whenever we used it. The outdoor patios were amazing. Every day we had our morning coffee of the deck. The views were to die for but the wildlife was spectacular. We saw beautiful birds, a pair of Toucans, a sloth, an iguana and monkeys galore. The morning we were leaving the monkeys paraded across the patio while we were there! One mother was carrying a baby on her back. It made the week for all of us! Everyone we encountered either at the house or arranged by the house were friendly, competent, and bent over backwards to help us. The groceries we ordered were waiting for us, the van driver from the San Jose airport felt like an old friend, the housekeeper kept everything perfect, excursions, rental car, whatever we needed they helped us with. We also loved the location. There were several terrific restaurants within walking distance. The beach was very nice. The most disappointing thing for us was that the beach access below the house was locked and the woman would not open it unless we paid her. The walk to the beach was reasonable although long but since it was straight up hill to get home, a taxi was the way to go. I would highly recommend Casa alegria to anyone.
I can't think of one area that could possibly have been improved upon. The home was in a great location with a beautiful view. Monkeys, lizards, toucans, sloths, etc. in the yard. The house is absolutely spotless and the housekeeper was amazing. Michael was a true pleasure to work with.
“Well kept-up house, waterfront, daily maid service, fully equipp”
We had a wonderful time at Casa alegria. The view of the ocean from the house was incredible and each of my daughters having their own bedroom and bath was great. The monkeys wrestling on our deck reminded us how close we were to the jungle. Loved driving our 4 wheel drive 5 min right onto the beautiful Manuel antonio beach. Our whole family walked the beach every day. Had the best whole fish (snapper) at an outdoor restaurant walking distance from the house. Will definitely come back. Michael Cunningham (the owner), was a pleasure to deal with...his e-mails & phone calls we're not only helpful, but honest and reliable. So glad we were tipped off to go grocery shopping in the town an hour from Casa alegria (on the way from San Jose airport). All of the grocery stores near Casa alegria weren't much more than 7 Elevens. We couldn't be happier with our "Costa Rica" experience. We will be renting this house again soon.
“Tranquil and relaxing. A little piece of paradise!”
The house was beautiful, very roomy and nicely furnished. And, the ocean views were to die for! It was great having a clean house to come home to every afternoon with made up beds, fresh towels and empty dishwasher. The walk to the beach was rather long and strenuous, but there is a local bus that comes by regularly and is very inexpensive. The area has great restaurants and lots of activities (i.e., parasailing and zip lining). Great fun!
“i rented casa suspiros”
beautiful home, great views, did not like the birds flying into the glass and dying in the pool. Maybe you can put some stickers on the glass so the birds would not fly in. The house has limited seating for 6 people in living room. Would prefer less beds in bedroom 2 for every room, loved the kitchen, very workable, good equipment. Would have liked to have known the house was totally covered , so know sun space. Also did not know it was rainy season.
“Like being in a tree house!”
Casa alegria was a wonderful experience, from start to finish. Michael, in the us, and Thomas, in Manuel antonio were both extremely friendly, and helpful in planning our activities for the week. The house is lovely...comfortable and spacious, with beautiful ocean views and a big dining room table to gather around. It's a great location, being a short walk to the beach as well as several restaurants. We loved the beaches and trails within the park, the monkeys on our balcony, gorgeous sunsets, wonderful cooks and day trips that were easy to arrange. Our grandchildren (ages 3, 5, 7 and 9) loved everything, particularly having their own private pool with several resident iguanas, the zip line at Hacienda Baru, horseback riding, para sailing and exploring Rainmaker, a private nature reserve. A short walk across the main road to the Costa Verde Hotel was always fun for viewing monkeys and birds (not to mention a beautiful spot for yoga classes). There is no doubt that we will come back to beautiful Manuel antonio, where there was something for everyone, from the 3 year old to his grandparents!
