Description

Craigwell Cottage is situated a short distance (only one block away) from Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. This city centre cottage provides something a little different from apartment accommodation and is an ideal base from which to explore Edinburgh and to tour central Scotland. We provide a parking space in our private courtyard so that you can leave your car and set off on foot. We even have a shared secret garden with lovely views to the Palace and over to Holyrood Park.

The cottage is part of a former brewery built in 1822 which was sympathetically converted in 1987 to form flats, townhouses and one semi-detached cottage which was the former gatehouse of the brewery.

The cottage overlooks the central courtyard of the complex to one side, and over gardens with views towards the Scottish Parliament buildings and over to Salisbury Crags.

Entering from the courtyard, there are two bedrooms (one double, one twin) on the ground floor along with the bathroom with over-bath shower. Upstairs is the open plan living, dining and kitchen area which is well equipped with all you'll need to self-cater - although with so many choices of restaurants and cafes in close proximity you don't need to do much cooking!

Staying in self-catering rental accommodation offers a freedom to come and go as you please, get up late - or early and suit yourself on whether you cook or eat out.

The owners of Craigwell Cottage have lived in Edinburgh for many years and are happy to recommend things to do and places to visit, and are on hand to offer advice and assistance before, during and after your stay.

By providing quality accommodation our aim is that you will want to return to explore Edinburgh and stay at our lovely cottage over and over again.

PLEASE NOTE: 3-night short breaks available all year, with the EXCEPTION of July and August (7 nights minimum) and Christmas/New Year (5 nights minimum)

“Perfect space for a family and great location”

From the first email I sent Susan to the warm greeting we received when we arrived it felt like a home away from home. This cottage is in the perfect location in Edinburgh, you can walk everywhere and then wander back through the beautiful streets for some rest. We are a family of 4 with two teenagers and this accomodation worked great for us - loved the two floors so all had space to relax. It is quiet,clean,comfortable,big kitchen that is well stocked,grocery stores nearby and a beautiful garden to enjoy views of the city.

This cottage is so cosy and comfortable and in a perfect location. We could walk to all the city's attraction, leaving our car safely parked. If I every have the opportunity to return to Edinburgh, I won't hesitate to book again.

Susan provides a cottage that is one block off the Royal Mile--close but quiet. The cottage was clean and spacious enough for 4--two bedrooms and an upstairs living room/kitchen. Perfect for exploring the Royal Mile up to Edinburgh Castle as well as Princes Street. We highly recommend this cottage.

Perfekt lägenhet för vår familj (2 vuxna, 2 barn). Kändes som ett hem under vår vecka i Edinburgh. Ypperligt läge - nära till shopping, sevärdheter och järnvägsstation. I lägenheten fanns allt vi behövde, t.ex. tvättmaskin, diskmaskin, tv, internet, köksutrustning (även lite kryddor, te, kaffe, socker). Bra service från ägaren. Vi fick många bra tips inför resan via Susan.

I can't speak highly enough of this lovely little cottage. The situation is perfect - it meant that we could walk to most attractions - even didn't need a taxi home after the theatre. Very well equipped, warm and a very helpful welcome from the hosts. Easy to book. Wi-Fi was great.

Had a lovely three nights at the cottage with my husband and 11 month old daughter. Susan was very helpful in providing information before we arrived. We were very pleased with the cottage, and it was a lovely touch to find it stocked with a few basics to enable us to have a cup of tea straight away! the location of the cottage was ideal, minutes from the royal mile, a supermarket and a coffee shop. couldn't comment on the proximity to the nightlife as we were with a baby but it was ideal for us. It was really useful to have the high chair and travel cot provided also which made our stay that much easier.

From our initial contact, Susan was very helpful. Our arrival at the cottage was after a long drive and we felt very much at home immediately. Every amenity was supplied and the location in relation to the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace etc was perfect. Having wifi and a fully equipped kitchen also helped us feel at home.

The cottage was very Comfortable and in easy walking distance from the Royal Mile. The arrangements for the key worked well and the administration of the cottage was good, with the owner giving advice on particular requests. We were a party of 3 and the cost was good, bearing in mind we were working to a tight budget. We liked the fact that the living area was above the bedrooms. The cobbled road outside could be noisy if cars travelled by the cottage at speed.

We were very lucky to be able to book this cottage on such short notice and Susan was very obliging and met us to give us the keys, organise payment and give us ideas on where to go etc. The cottage couldnt be in a better location, being in walking distance or public transport to all attractions. Add to that the free parking, free WiFi and its the best you could ask for. The cottage itself has every amenity you will need, just walk down the road for your supplies and you are set for however long you stay. Thanks Susan for such a wonderful time in Edinburgh.

Fantastic cottage in a very convenient location. Close to old part of town but a quick walk takes you to the new part! Would highly recommend to others - clean, modern and secure...fabulous time had by all.
