“A place to make you feel the best that you can be !”

Reviewed 4 May 2014

We were lucky enough to find this very impressive B&B; at short notice as we needed to be close to Chalabre to visit my husban's sister who had been in an accident. Carolyn & Nick , the owners, could not have been more helpful or supportive at such a fraught time for us. Our room was beautifull and the entire experience of staying with them was calming, such a thoughtfully planned home and such faultless service. Nicks cooking was fab and Carolyn's ability to make everything look and feel atmospheric and luxurious but yet comfortable and authentically French is a real gift. The area is Rural France at its most enchanting and breakfast on their back terrace was my highlight of our stay, birds chirping, bees buzzing and freshly squeezed apple juice to wash down the fresh fruit and crusty bread ...heaven on earth !

“Friendly B and B”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2013

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, the food lovely and accommodation of a good standard. The only thing to note is if you have small children that you want to get to bed early the church bells might make getting them to sleep a challenge. We soon relaxed into our holiday and found our 5 year old enjoyed scooting round the square while we ate so bed time became very relaxed. Loved the location great days out. the wild swimming was a real treat.

“Absolutamente recomendable. Ideal para unos días de descanso”

La atención de Carolyn y Nick es excelente. Procuran por tu comodidad constantemente. Nick es un excelente chef y nos porporcionó unas inolvidables cenas. El alojamiento es muy agradable en una magnífica casa del siglo Xviii. Un lugar ideal para pasar unos cuantos días de descanso. Absolutamente recomendable.

“Chez Nick and Carolyn”

What a find! Charming little B&B; just 50mins south-west of Carcassonne. Listen to the tinkling of the cow bells as you doze off to sleep after Nick's delicious four course evening meals and local wines, all sourced locally. Carolyn has all thought of everything from the hairdryer and cotton wool in the bathroom, to the eclectic selection of CDs. We loved our stay and came home wishing we were still sitting in the village square soaking up the sun and enjoying the friendship of our hosts.

“A little bit of rustic France with a warm welcome.”

Carolyn and Nick made us feel so welcome. Our room was very good. The setting for Chez Maison Bleue is gorgeous in a little square with a church.Nick is a very accomplished chef, so we ate there 2 of our 3 nights. As a base we were able to enjoy some walking through the countryside as well as driving easily to Carcassonne and other medieval towns. Carolyn and Nick were very warm, attentive hosts, always having time for a chat, offering advice on what to see and which of Nick's wines to drink next! Would (will) definitely return.

“Our brilliant stay at Chez Maison Bleue”

We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2013 whilst we were watching Le Tour de France. Carolyn & Nick were very welcoming and our room was large and spacious with lots of nice toilettries in the bathroom. We had breakfast and evening meal every day and the food was delicious. The breakfast was a selection of local fruits and bread, Nick makes his own jam's which were our favourite. With the meal were were offered a choice of wine, chilled and to our individual taste. The rural location suited us as we were on a biking holiday. Nick was very kind and mapped us a route for us to ride. It would be difficult to chose what was my favourite part of our stay as everything was amazing, we couldn't fault this accommodation. Carolyn & Nick will do everything to make sure you have a fantastic stay. I would highly reccommend this accommodation. We will definitely return in 2014!

“Home from Home”

Nick and Carolyn are wonderful hosts - the property is beautiful and its position in the tiny square by the chapel and the Mairie is stunning. They cared very much that our stay was special and to make sure that the food and hospitality was there always. Fantastic Sam and Martin Elliott

“Charming, Friendly, and Welcoming”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

I cannot wait to visit again! Caroline was an excellent host. The B&B; was very roomy, excellent view of the village square, breakfast was great, the room was spacious, and I can go on and on. Caroline gave me a tour of the house and history; the house used to be the priest house (there is a village church in the square). I didn't want to leave. The square as a whole looks straight out of a scene from Disney's Beauty and the Beast when Belle is singing Bonjour with a pile of books in her hands! :) Lassie, the square dog is very friendly and hangs around. I had friends who stayed at the hotel in the same square; that was nice but I'm glad my husband and I stayed in the B&B.; I hope to make it to France in the next couple of years and bring our son next time. I will note that this is located in South France near almost nothing. I was here for a wedding. Additionally, there is only one bathroom/restroom in the B&B; so you have to share it with the other guests. On the other hand, the bathroom is glorious and I felt like a princess while bathing. Good water pressure, a separate bath and shower, one toilet, two sinks.

Response from the owner Thank you Nina, we are delighted you enjoyed our old, rambling French country house. The bathroom is normally private, the arrangement I had with the wedding party was that friends would share so we could fit in more guests. So next time you will have it all to yourself, look forward to seeing you again! Carolyn & Nick

“An excellent stay, very well looked after, relaxing with good foo”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2013

The house and its setting was so typically French with the owners constantly improving the facilities. Its location in such a rural setting was ideal for a relaxing week along with the ability to reach wonderful towns and countryside via easy driving on almost deserted roads. The whole experience was rewarding.

Response from the owner So glad you enjoyed exploring our lovely, unspoilt region of the south of France.
