“Most amazing 4 day get away”
My boyfriend and I stayed at Terri's Casita La Perlita and had an absolutely amazing time. We stayed in Casita 2 which is one of Terri's 2 casitas on the property of land. The casita is located near the museo. Although the casita is not "downtown" per say it actually makes her place a beautiful get away spot. It is quiet, homey, cozy, and has a view of the water. My boyfriend and I rented bikes (Terri had suggested a scooter or car but there were none available b/c of the last minute timing on our part) and we were able to get to pretty much every beach on the island. I would suggest others to rent a car or scooter b/c it seems to be easier to get around this way since the island is very hilly. Terri is also very accommodating and always was accessible by phone in case you need her during your stay. The casita itself was perfect and better then the pictures! A gorgeous porch area where we sat out in the morning and at nights, a kitchen with a good cooking area, a large refrigerator, a new bathroom w/ shower and toilet, and space to put clothes. I would highly suggest renting from Teresa and coming to Culebra to stay at her place! Culebra is a beautiful island and Terri's place offers the peace/relaxation that is perfect for a wonderful vacation!
“Casita la Perlita is an excellent vacation cottage-clean and comfortable.”
I rented a scooter at the Jeep rental agency across the street from the airport with some assistance from the cottage owner. (She is a New Yorker who knows how to take good care of people and knows everybody in town. A great resource!) Then, there is a five minute ride along the shore and up into the hills. You pass horses, cats, chickens, dogs, little lizards, children, families, food stands, farms, old cars, as you go back in time to a slow easy pace that feels warm and friendly and safe. Up the hill and into the stone driveway you see two cottages. They look new, set near the top of the hill. From the porch you look down across hilly island terrain. The sunsets from here are OMG spectacular. The TV works, but there's no need for it. Later, walk up the road past the lights to be engulfed by stars and chirping crickets. The cottage has one main room, an open pantry for the refrigerator and storage, and a tiled bathroom with a good hot shower. The main room has a big firm bed, adequate furniture and a very practical clean kitchenette with everything you need to cook and serve meals. The decor is cheery and the internet connection is strong. But shut off your phone and iPad. Just enjoy the peace and tranquility. Hang your towels out on the line to dry in a few minutes. This place is wonderful for a couple or small family-a perfect romantic (or just fun) getaway from the world. It's a short but scenic ride to Zoni Beach-the beach in your dreams of Paradise with nobody there most of the time! There's a couple of very nice restaurants on the island, local grocery stores with all you need, and a fantastic local percussion band at the Dingy Dock restaurant in town. But, don't make plans. Let the days unfold. I can't wait to get back again, and again...I could live here.
