“Wonderful location, lovely cottage & excellent hosts!”
We stayed here for two weeks & can say nothing but good things about it! The cottage is charming & very well equipped. The hosts, Jeannine & Christian are extremely gracious, hospitable & accommodating. The location is perfect for day tripping to all the Luberon hill top towns as well as Avignon & parts further afield. Amenities such as grocery stores, bank machines & of course, patisseries are very close by. Many wineries are also in close proximity. The cottage provides privacy but your hosts are steps away if you need them for whatever reason. We truly enjoyed our time here & wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if our travels bring us back to Provence.
“A Gem in Provence”
What makes for a great holiday? For us the food, the sites, the air, the light and the scent of lavender are important. But most important were our welcoming hosts. Our coming to your gîte and home for two weeks was like visiting family. What a warm, caring invitation to your wonderful place in Provence. Thank you.
From the moment we arrived after a long day of travelling, we were greeted by our warm and friendly hosts, Jeannine and Christian. They had even stocked our fridge as the stores were closed on Sunday, so we could relax and enjoy the evening and morning. Their wonderful gite has everything you could want and more! Spotlessly clean and beautiful view of their gardens made it a perfect place to enjoy and relax. The location is great as it is a few minutes to Gordes and short distances to the other hillside villages in Luberon. But what makes Les Chenes Blanc so special is the hospitality of the hosts who even brought us a freshly baked loaf and strawberries from their garden on a very cold and rainy day...sweet, sweet memories.
“Paradise in Provence”
My husband and I stayed at the Macks' charming gite twice, in august 2010 and 2012. The beautiful grounds, a great location and the Macks' warmth and hospitality made our visits extremely enjoyable. The cottage is modern with all the appliances and amenities you could want, including wifi and a stand up shower. The property is private and safe -- there is a wall that goes around it and you enter via a gate. The location is great for exploring the region, though some of our favorite afternoons were spent relaxing on lounge chairs beneath the oak trees in the large garden. And it doesn't get much better than enjoying dinner outside under the pergola with tomatoes, eggplant and basil picked from the Macks' bountiful vegetable garden. Truly paradise in Provence.
My wife and I decided to celebrate our 20th anniversary in Provence, a place we had never before visited. We rented this property, owned by the Mack family. Jeannine, a retired teacher, and Christian, a retired antiquities dealer, live in the main house and are the most gracious, warm and friendly hosts we have encountered in any country we have visited, including our own, the United States. Though we were of course on our own, they went out of their way to make sure we knew where we were going. On one day, our anniversary, we had the misfortune of getting into a minor car accident. We called ahead to them asking that they cancel our local dinner reservation. Jeannine took care of it but when we got back, the most unexpected thing happened. She and Christian had a full meal with a carafe of wine set up on a table outside and they joined us, having waited themselves to eat. It was the best meal we had out of all the terrific restaurants we went to. The cottage itself is immaculate, comfortable and perfect for two people. The grounds in this gated property are stunning, with olive and lemon trees amidst a yard that has a vegetable garden and of course, the omnipresent Provencal lavender. The local area is full of history, including the oldest working monastery in France and in fact, all of Europe (L'Abbeye du Senanque), the Lavender Museum (right up the road), and further out, the Palais du Pape in avignon. Outside of avignon you must visit the Bratt family wine museum and winery. The tour there by Patrick is a must. All in all, we hope to return to Provence some day and stay at the same cottage. Jeannine & Christian, of course, have an open invitation to come to the us to stay with us if they ever wish to do so. A most memorable experience!!!
