“Fabulous stay at Villa Jepun in peaceful Penestanan village”
This was our 2nd stay at Villa Jepun and our 3rd with Private Ubud Villas. We love staying in Penestanan which is a iittle artists village just over the Bridges bridge and up around to the left past the hairpin bend. Peaceful village but still with plenty of eating and drinking and shopping options if oyu dont want to head into Ubud central.. Taxi service is available at the end of lane from Villa Jepun where you can haggle a price for a ride anywhere. generally more at night around 40 or 50 000. We walked as much as we could as well. you can take the back tracks on the opposite side of road from Jepun and head to Bintang supermarket & get a taxi driver back again. Villa Jepun is well laid out with spacious bathrooms and walk in wardrobe with safe in bathroom. Love the open style shower and huge full length mirror. Beds are comfy and quiet location until the scooters stat around sunrise...but this is Bali and locals are heading to work. the dining and lounge area are big enough for family of 4 and pool and gardens are lovely for relaxing in. Saren is the friendly villa staff who will come in each day and make your breakfast at a time you choose. fresh fruit, lovely wholemeal chunky toast with jams, and eggs any way if you wish. He then cleans the villas and tidies garden etc and leaves a couple of hours later. He will make any bookings or enquiries you need and arrange for scooter hire or drivers etc. He will also bring you the account for payment & finalise with Steve in the office if you don't want to head over the road yourself. Steve is extremely helpful in choosing a villa and making bookings. Always accommodating and easy going. Love to explore the lane down from Jepun. Several new cafes have opened along here since we first visited the area. Dream Cafe, Gratitude cafe. You walk a long way past all the villas and buildings going on. I was curious as to where all the workers were heading with their wheelbarrows every day...there is so much activity along here..but we werent bothered by any noise at all. In Penestanan you can also visit the 2nd Sari Organic cafe which is lovely upstairs looking over the village, and one of the Cantika spas in nearby as well. The 3rd Cantika spa is further along Penestanan artists area in the village. Lots of lovely walks to explore. Recommend booking a transfer driver through Steve so you can easily locate the villa especially if arriving from airport at night. Would always stay in this area rather than central Ubud.
“Peaceful + Wonderful”
My wife and I were checking online for the places to stay in Bali. So we shortlisted to things we like, surprisingly swimming pool was way ahead of beach, so we picked paddy field, nature, walking tour, arts etc. So Ubud fits the requirements for this family holiday. Looking for the right accommodation which does not cost a bomb, then we started looking everywhere, asking friends, etc. And we found Private Villas Ubud Group, which is owned a group of Australians, who loves either having villas or homes in Ubud, or perhaps, started their own home stay business in Bali, which I think they have done it really well. We found the website of the owner and we got in touch with them through email, thus some clicks here and there, we are all set for the accommodation. There are few warring or cafes around the villa, which you can just walk, without having anyone to fetch you, or the need of taxi. But of course the cafe food prices would be much higher when dining at Ubud. BTW, the villa we are staying is located on the Monkey Forest Road, but we did not see any monkey there. Try the lady who is selling the mixed rice in the morning, and she sells something like an Ayam Penyet at night. For local, the meal should be around IDR10,000 to 15,000. However, for tourists, she will charge a premium, of IDR20,000 or 40,000 depending. So, the best way to get food at the local price, ask a local to buy for you. The Villa Jepun, is not a Japanese theme villa, of which we thought, Jepun is Frangipani in Balinese language. So, we smell the wonderful flower daily. The villa also comes with a butler, who will come in around 8am, to prepare breakfast, drinks, cleaning, changing of the bedsheets and everything else to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Normally he will leave by 10am, and then comes back again the next day, the same time. Nothing major breakfast, just simple brown bread toast with jam, butter, and a bowl of fruit salad, which is our favourite. If you can walk about 2-3km to the nearest supermarket, you can buy the additional, and he can probably cook for you, just remember to pay him the extra for his time and effort. There are also some art galleries around the villa, so can visit them, but to buy them, depending how much you willing to pay, generally on the higher side, prior to the discount, or bargain. The villa provides everything you need, except no shampoo and shower gel, so you have to bring these along. It is relatively new villa, only opened to the public for 2 years. So most things are still working fine. The only drawback, the switch board tripped many times. We have to off some of the electrical appliances to avoid the constant tripping. And I can see that, the circuit board may need some more work, ok, I am not the real electrical expert. Finally, if you have to check out at 11am and have no where else to go, can head over the owner’s studio to admire his artworks.
A great place to stay. Beautiful house, nice decorations, good beds, nice swimming pool, daily excellent breakfast, not close to the center of Ubud, but good enough for a nice walk and always better than staying in the busy Ubud. Felt very comfortable and private. Eating in Bayu's Kitchen was always good quality food and so nice when there is live music. Can't wait to come back again. For sure!
“Great time in Villa Jepun”
Had a great time in Villa Jepun again...two visits. Ketut was still there and his cooking skills are great so breakfast was a highlight of the day..great scramled eggs...to compliment the fresh fruit..it is a easy to be in Villa and great pool to relax in and great eating places like Dream Cafe so close...Kue Cafe for coffee and for fabulous quality clothes visit aKU...great gifts to take home you will not find elsewhere..and of couse a good musical night at Bayu Restaurant ...Highlight was a little bird with yellow tonings I noticed last year that came for the nectar in the flowers always about midday and he was back this year...special
“Highly recommended. Can't wait to return!”
Conveniently located near Ubud, plenty of reasonably priced places to eat nearby that cater to all tastes, modern and tidy accommodation that is cleaned daily, decent sized pool..what's not to like??? We were a group of 5 and loved every bit of our stay at Villa Jepun. In fact it was so good we are already planning our next trip later on this year!!
“great value, excellent private villa with pool!”
We loved our stay in the village of Penestanan just outside of Ubud. Steve was excellent to deal with, easy communication & simple payment arrangements. Would recommend using his driver if coming from airport especially at night as it can be tricky to find it you;ve not been to Penestanan before. Villa is down a little lane next to Round Bar & behind the D-Omah hotel which can only be accessed by scooters. Villa is not far down the lane - past couple of cafes ,one is called Gratitude. Jepun is in a line of villas on the left turn. Jepun is the first one on the lane. This did mean some early morning wake ups from passing motorbikes but didnt bother us really. this lane is quite busy most of the time with women carrying building supplies in wheelbarrows, scooters, tourists and locals going about their daily life. It's a great walk down this lane to see what's going on...rice fields, ducks, building works, more villas, great views, friendly pets, more great views. wlel worth exploring here. the villa itself was fairly new and very comfortable. we appreciated the closed up lounge dining area. and also separate bedrooms with huge bathrooms, with a full length large mirror, large shower area & big open walk in wardrobe with safe. the pool isnt huge but certainly big enough for 2 kids to splash around in. Saran came in each morning to cook up breakfast at the time you chose the day before - first couple days just toast & fresh fruit bowls, but good decent thick cut bread & our first taste of pineapple jam which we found in supermarkets to bring home - yum! last couple of days we had eggs also. Saran was fantastic. He'd make breakfast, clean up a bit then leave us to eat while he cleaned up outside. He'd then return to clean the villa & also help us with any arrangements for the next day like bike tours etc. So so helpful and a lovely friendly young man. Loved our stay here & look forward to coming back soon.
“Villa Jepun is a lovely very private villa that encompasses mode”
This villa is a good size for 2 or 3 people. It has a cool pool which is refreshing after being out in the heat. The living areas can be closed of to block out the heat or any noise, but it wasnt noisy when I was there. The bathrooms are very spacious, and the room boy was very good. All in all a lovely villa in a great location, small villa away from the main town of Ubud.
What a wonderful holiday in a beautiful villa. Our wonderful room boy Saren was amazing, so helpful. The villa itself is so comfortable with everything you could need plus more. Would recommend this villa to anyone wholeheartedly. The management team are utterly amazing and you will be in great hands staying in any of the Private Ubud Villas.
“Always the best”
I always try to include Bali in my travel plans, and since I found these villas they are the best places to stay. I have already stayed in three, and they are all nice. Villa Jepun is beautiful, has nice decoration and a very clean pool. The guy takes cere very well of it. Thanks Saren and Steve.
“Really nice villa”
We stayed Villa Jepun for two nights. All of us liked this villa. It's really clean and comfortable. My kids had great time in the swimming poor. Anyway, the villa is wonderful.
