“My "goto" place in Baja!”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2013

I've stayed many times at the Iguana, but it only took once to call it my home away from home! Brenda and Lee are just the perfect hosts never too curious, never too shy, always making you feel at home. The room is great (I was surprised the first time as since it's on the roof it has the nicest views, who would leave that to their guests?!) and clean with a nice breeze going through when you open all windows. The deck is perfect for star glazers like me, always enjoy a drink there in the warmth of Baja California nights. My main reason for travelling to Baja is surf the Iguana,it is next to La pastora which is a nice right point (you'll need a car to get there though), but if the Pacific doesn't bless you with some swell go with Lee for fishing or wale watching, nice time and fantastic stories of the Ocean guaranteed, as to fishes well I have yet to see Lee coming back with the ice chest empty from a fishing trip!

“Exceeded our expectations at every turn”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2013

Our stay at Iguana de los Mangos exceeded our expectations in every way. When we arrived, Brenda and Lee, the owners, greeted us at the gate that leads into their compound. They showed us to our room, which is on the 2nd floor above their house. Once up the outdoor stairs and onto the very large patio area that is about 60% covered in palapa style roof, we could see to the mountains in one direction, the surrounding agriculture area and through some trees we could catch some view of the ocean. There are multiple sitting areas and over the course of our two weeks here, we found that we spent a lot of time outside. There was always a spot with just the right combination of shade, breeze and view. The kitchen is in the outdoor palapa area and is well stocked with what one needs to prepare meals. The owners keep it stocked with drinking water and coffee. The room itself is large and has lots of windows so it feels very connected to the outdoors. The bathroom is also large with ample counter space. Brenda has fitted the place with nice linens and towels and freshens things up with clean towels and linens every several days. Indoors and out, the place is spotless. The next morning we went downstairs to the dining area in the large palapa connected to the owners' living area. Coffee, juice and fantastic food were there for us that morning and every morning. Fresh home-baked muffins and fruit-breads; fresh fruits; French toast; potato was all incredibly good. As another example of extreme hospitality: we did a running race in Todos Santos on the 29th of December. (If you are a runner and in ts around then, this is a must-do 5k race with a 1k for kids; and it benefits the Palapa Society.) Brenda was thoughtful enough to pack little bags of breakfast for us with a fresh muffin and energy bar for after. We showed this to some other people we met at the race that were staying elsewhere and their reaction was "no way!" We can't wait to go back!
