“Beautiful flat, perfect location”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2015

We were thrilled when we discovered where we were staying. A beautiful flat in a perfect location. Susanna was charming and really helpful. The bottle of wine was a nice touch!

“Comfortable, well furnished, fully equipped and ... in a perfect location!”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2014

If you are looking for an apartment to visit Lisbon and/or nearby towns, look no further because this is an ideal place to stay. Full of light thanks to three large windows with views over the Corpo Santo square and the river, comfortably and tastefully furnished and fully equipped with the best of Ikea, the living-dining-cooking area is open plan with a separate small double bedroom (with a very comfortable bed), bathroom (with a big and powerful shower) and utility room which is handy to store suitcases, shoes and coats. Thanks to heaters in the living area and bathroom the flat was lovely and warm even in December. Less than 5 minutes from the train/metro station at Calais de Sodre, the central Praca do Comercio and the lively, smart Chiado district, with the riverside promenade, restaurants, shops and a supermarket to hand, the apartment is ideally located. We walked everywhere without ever taking city transport ... except for one day when we splashed out on the 24-hr all-inclusive city transport ticket (€6! )and rode on all the trams and "elevadores" (historical cable cars and lifts) round town - great fun, especially the picturesque 28E tram and .... what a view from the top terrace of the Santa Justa lift! Lisbon and its inhabitants are just delightful: our favourites were: the castle, the viewpoints (miradoures), Alfama, the cathedral in the evening sunlight, Estoril basilica and gardens, the Expo area with its futuristic architecture and wonderful open spaces and gardens for walking, the riverside promenades, strolling round Chiado and Baixa in the evening with stops to drink ginjinha and eat custard and cinammon tarts, Belem with its magnificent monastery, tower, riverside walk with views of the 25 April bridge and custard tarts (the best!), Sintra (half an hour's train ride from Rossio station) - especially the walk through the woods up to the picturesque Moorish castle (fab views!) and National Palace (we did not enjoy the Pena Palace - a 19th century Disneyland creation), visiting Cascais (don't miss the gardens and museum in the house owned by the Irishman O'Neill) and walking along the promenade to Estoril eating freshly caught and grilled fish in a restaurant overlooking the Atlantic ..... and buying canned fish, port, cherry brandy, cinnamon, salted cod and all sorts of other specialities in Via Arsenal, just outside the apartment! We are sure there is plenty more to return for! Filippo and Susana made booking and settling in easy and quick so a big thank you to them - obligada!

“Beginner's Luck”

This was our first international trip without a tour group to follow along with. We used Trip Advisor to choose from vacation rentals listed there in our desired destination city. We couldn't have made a better choice! Travelers should be advised that there are 44 steps up to the apartment but unless you have a major disability it is not a drawback. We had some difficulty initially locating the apartment despite Susana's excellent directions. Once you've made the trip from nearby Cais do Sodre station successfully you will find your way back and forth easily. We found asking for the bike shop which is next door got us where we needed to go. Our "landlady" Susana met us outside as promised and used the lift to bring up our luggage. I rode along as well because I am wearing a knee brace but the rest of the trips we did the stairs. The apartment has beautiful high ceilings, is light, bright and efficient. It was very clean on our arrival. We appreciated the closets with plenty of hangers, the washer and dryer, the microwave, counter top range and oven. With only two of us we didn't find it necessary to use the dishwasher. The bed was extremely comfortable, and despite being in a busy location with traffic including buses and trolleys, it was perfectly quiet with the windows closed. Room darkening shades allow you to sleep in a bit if desired. We didn't understand how to use the coffeemaker and emailed Susana who delivered one we could figure out along with some coffee. The views from the tall windows are phenomenal of the river Tejo by day and night. It is easy to walk to the riverfront, get a glass of wine and people watch. It is easy to get back to Cais du Sonde where you can catch the very affordable metro to everywhere, including the airport. We stayed for a week left reluctantly as there are so many things to do nearby. Thank you, Susanna and Sergio!

“Location, location, location!”

We were fortunate to be visiting friends in Lisbon. What a great city and perfectly located apartment for our visit. We used the trains, bus, metro, trolley, ferry and on our departure used the aerobus to the airport. It was great to be so close to a transportation hub and this is a city that you do not want or need a car. In addition, you can walk to restaruants and stores in the neighborhood. I wish we could have stayed longer. This is a perfect base for exploring Lisbon and the great towns a short train ride away. I would recommend Sintra and Cascais. Our trip originally was for Spain but our friends suggested adding Lisbon and we are very glad we did. Awesome city and a very comfortable apartment. The location is perfect. The apartment is clean and quiet. I would stay here again.

“Perfect Location”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2014

Never having been to Lisbon before, we appreciated the location and the information received from Susana upon arrival. If we were picky we would have liked a coffee table and coffee maker - however everything was spotless, roomy & comfortable. A 2 minute stroll away & we were sipping our port, lounging on deckchairs and looking out at the water...at midnight. Definitely an apartment to return to - fingers crossed. Loved Lisbon with a passion, the tasty bottle of wine left to tempt us & eateries dotted around that we found just by strolling of the tourist track. Thanks Susana! Kathy & Ian

“Very convenient location, well equipped and comfortable.”

Stayed here with husband and teenage son. It was an easy 30 minute metro ride from the airport followed by a short walk from the metro station. For us a great location, easy to walk to most we wanted to see and as mentioned close to the metro (and bus, trains and trams) so using our Viva Viagem cards purchased at the airport it was very easy (and cheap) to get further afield to the likes of Sintra and Cascais. The apartment was one of the best equipped we have ever stayed in and very comfortable. We were very impressed by the efficiency of the double glazing for keeping out the street noise, wish ours here at home was as good! Would we stay here again if visiting Lisbon? Yes we would.

“Great "home base" location to explore Lisboa”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2014

The apartment is in a great location for exploring the city. The apartment is modern, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It has all the modern amenities and all are in good working order. The description found on Susanna and Sergio's website is accurate. Susanna met us upon our arrival and provided not only a welcome bottle of champagne, but also wonderful recommendations for nearby restaurants and other activities. The aparment is within walking distance of many parts of the city, and access to transit is very good. The Tagus River is just a few minutes walk, and the nearby Mercado Ribiera is a great place to buy fresh produce and/or to dine out in a casual atmosphere.

“Superb location”

Very good apartment, very nice furnished. Location is superb, close to railway station for commuting trains to Cascais and close to harbour for ferry boats. Close to city center.

“Excellent Apartment in the Heart of Lisbon”

Reviewed 12 May 2014

Arrived at the apartment and was met by Sergio who greeted us and took our luggage up to the 2nd floor apartment in the lift. The lift goes right into the apartment and is ideal for transporting your luggage. Sergio showed us around the apartment, introduced us to the local area and supplied a nice bottle of red wine (great host). The apartment was exceptionally clean, spacious and provided everything you needed for a short or long stay. The apartment building requires key access and the apartment door is fitted with an excellent lock providing security. The apartment comprises a fully equipped kitchen, living room, one bedroom, bathroom and utility room. All the fixtures and fitting functioned correctly. The apartment ideally located in the heart of Lisbon providing easy access to the metro, taxis, shops and restaurants. Sergio met us the day before departure to return our deposit as we were leaving early and said we would have no trouble getting a taxi outside the apartment even at 5 am, which proved correct. If you are thinking of visiting Lisbon this apartment and its owners are first class.
