“A must stay getaway”
I have stayed here 2 years in a row now along with my fiancé. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, it does not get any better than this cozy cabin in the woods. The owner is amazing and has the cabin set up to have anything and everything you would need for a vacation. The only thing you need to bring is some food, and you are completely set up for the weekend.
“A great peaceful retreat.”
Our family always loves coming up to this peaceful retreat. Cheryl really puts nice little touches everywhere that makes this a great getaway. The kids love the treats that are set out and the views are worth the stay in itself. It is a great place to come and relax and just enjoy a good book and some hiking. We will continue to be regulars here.
“Cant wait to stay here again”
beautiful property with breathtaking views. loved the triangle shape of the house and the amazing triangle shaped window. Couldn't believe my eyes when I found the kids cave below the kitchen table. Will definitely be visiting again soon. And the owner was so nice and helpful, thank you for making it a wonderful trip Cheryl.
We stayed for three nights in May 2014 and we both enjoyed it very much. The cabin was perfectly located, being within a short drive to Idyllwild, yet secluded enough that we rarely heard the folks in neighboring cabins. The views from the back deck of the cabin are breathtaking. We both enjoyed seeing the sunrise over Lily Rock and watching the clouds roll into Fern Valley in the evening. We also enjoyed feeding the local birds and squirrels on the back deck with the bird seed that was provided. There are also some walking trails just down the hill from the cabin that provide amazing views of Fern Valley. The cabin is cozy and well appointed, having everything we needed for our stay. The only things we brought with us was food and for that we shopped at a small, local store in Idyllwild where the staff was very friendly. The queen bed on the main floor was comfortable. The cabin was kept up nicely and it was very clean. We look forward to our next trip to this little gem of a cabin in the woods!
“A Wonderful Retreat”
We had a wonderful stay at The Pine Rock Retreat! The cabin was cozy and the views were magnificent. We even made some new critter friends on the back patio: all kinds of lovely birds and one hungry squirrel! Cheryl's food recommendations were also great. Cafe aroma had some of the best pancakes we've ever had. We made another friend at Gastrognome... the six-toed cat, Hemingway, who seemed to take a liking to us. Thanks to Cheryl for her hospitality and thoughtful birthday wishes. You made it a truly special and memorable weekend!
“A Perfect Paradise”
There are no words to truly explain the beauty of Pine Rock Retreat. The cabin is beautiful, welcoming, and wondrous. My daughter loved the little teddy bear snuggled on top of the bed, and my wife was thrilled with the welcome basket of little snacks. The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood, and once you descend the stairs it's like you are the only ones around. The deck is large, spacious, and comfortable. It's the perfect place to drink a morning cup of coffee, BBQ, or nature watch. The cabin is filled with so many comforts, it was difficult to leave. Cheryl's hospitality and professionalism are a true blessing. From the first phone call to afternoon check out, I felt secure that we were well taken care of. We will definitely return for another (longer) stay.
“Best cabin experience ever!”
We've stayed in many cabins over the years, but never one like this, and it definitely deserves a 5 star rating. It was very clean and looked recently built or refurbished, so appliances looked new and everything worked perfectly, while having a very cosy atmosphere. The attention to detail was amazing, with little notes to guide you in every aspect. Plus we found a lovely birthday card and banner for my husband when we arrived. So much is included, you literally only need to bring food (and forget the condiments, they're there). My favorite thing was the deck, which looks out to spectacular views, plus a little path from the cabin that leads to a lookout bench. The layout was great, with upstairs and downstairs beds and privacy curtains, plus the cutest kid section under a trap door accessible with a ladder, so kids have their own area complete with bathroom and lots of toys but are easy to check on - wish I'd found a place like this when my kids were young! Lots of Dvds, games, music and other fun stuff for the whole family. We were there for a romantic birthday weekend, and it's great for couples, too. It was a super short drive to town, with the Nature Center hiking trails on the way. The view was totally worth the 5-minute drive. There are neighboring homes, but the cabin is situated at the end of a road and feels very private. I can't recommend Pine Rock Retreat enough!
“Had the most peaceful and relaxed time here”
Absolutely love this cozy cabin. From the minute we walking down the stairs to the entrance, already feel very welcome with the bear holding welcome sign. We were welcome with goodie basket, happy birthday sign and card. The deck has amazing view with lots of birds, squirrels visit every day. There is nice hiking trail right in the back of cabin with great view. The cabin has lots good game boards that we play at night. The owner Cheryl is amazing. She has every things you could think of in this cabin to make you feel like at home. My kids really enjoy the kids cave. Book this cabin for your mini vaca you will be very happy with it!!! Definitely recommend!!!
“Great getaway location”
Great views, quite location, close to Idyllwild shopping and entertainment, comfortable cabin fully equipped. Will be back!
“Great views, terrific location, birds birds birds”
Older couple looking for a mountain retreat with access to hiking. This little cabin with its terrific deck was a great find. Cheryl goes above and beyond expectations in providing everything needed for a short stay, including plenty of bird seed to add entertainment to mornings and afternoons on the large deck. We wished we had some children with us to enjoy the "kids cave" with the trap door under the table. Location close to town was convenient, yet amazingly private, given the proximity to other cabins in the area. Hiking the Ernie Maxwell trail out of Humber Park was perfect for me, and many more challenging trails were available for my mountaineer husband. Cleanliness was exceptional, and the electric blanket was much appreciated when we arrived late on a cold evening. The only thing preventing a full 5-star review was that in the effort to provide "all the comforts of home", the cabin seemed a little cluttered and we had difficulty finding a clear surface for unpacking. This was a minor concern, and more a result of the a-frame architecture, so really not much option to add shelving or counter space. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend this retreat.
