“Don't be afraid of Baja. A B & B that is unbelievable in every w”

Reviewed 4 Mar 2014

We just returned from the most relaxing weekend at this beautiful place. We needed a break after a tough, stressful time and so we went online and found Casa Mediodia which went far beyond our expectations. We were greeted by our host Irene, who immediately made us feel at home. We were blown away by the extraordinary location perched above two beautiful coves, the lovely house (decorated to perfection) and the comfortable surroundings. Some highlights: 1. This place is very close to the border making it a great weekend getaway from San Diego. With the great roads and easy drive, it took no time at all to get there. But don't hurry-- there are so many great places to stop along the way! 2. Safe, safe, safe. (Please don't listen to the hype people might say!) 3. The home itself is beautiful and well-appointed in both the private and common areas. The rooms are oh-so-cozy, with wonderful linens, great showers, and private balconies (each one!) The common areas are incredible-- great patio with fireplace, living room with hundreds of vinyl records and every table game imaginable. 4. Although this is a B & B, privacy is built in. 5. Meals are amazing. We liked going down the hill for lunch at Bufadora and exploring the vendors and seeing the blowhole. But breakfast and dinner were something we looked forward to each day, as they were scrumptious, but more so, served up with great care and beauty. 6. Hiking trails everywhere, all of which take you down to the most beautiful coastline around. 7. Sunsets you can almost touch. And at the right time of year (like right now), whale watching is incredible. (Your host has binoculars!) Irene is the secret weapon of this place. There isn't anything this mighty mouse can't do, but what she's best at is making you feel comfortable and cared for. Don't be afraid of Baja. And certainly don't be afraid to come to this lovely spot on the earth. You won't regret it. We are refreshed!

“unplug, relax, and get happy!”

My husband and I cannot wait to go back to Casa Mediodia! The food, rooms, ocean views, and hostess were fantastic! I have never felt so pampered, cared for, and relaxed anywhere else! We arrived late Thursday night in the dark, and Irene was waiting to give us a quick tour, show us to our room, and point out that you can see every star in the sky and the Milky Way! Gorgeous!!! When we woke in the morning it was to a jaw-droppingly beautiful view of an ocean sunrise. I wandered up to the main house for coffee and on my way I took in the succulent garden, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Before long Irene came in with an amazing breakfast! While we were there, Irene made us things like Mexican eggs, huevos rancheros, homemade banana bread, and the best of all - a peach and pear cobbler with a French toast crust! I was stuffed and happy after every meal, taking my time to enjoy the delicious food, fun conversation with Irene and the other guests, the sparkling ocean view, and all the little birds and butterflies flitting around the porch. There is plenty to do throughout the day either near/on the property (hikes to tide pools, wildlife viewing, dolphin spotting, ocean viewing) and in the nearby towns (shopping, visit La Bufadora, horseback riding, visit beach, visit Ensenada). Irene was around all day to answer questions and give us directions on where to go. We spent our evening at Casa Mediodia on the porch with wine, watching the sunset on the ocean, enjoying a snack plate (prepared by Irene) and a fire in the chimenea. I am telling everyone to come visit Casa Mediodia to unplug, relax, and get happy!

“A fantastic b&b; something that needs to be experienced”

All I can say is it's a five-star restaurant, Ritz Carlton accommodations with a view of nature that Californians have not seen for over a 100 years. Native desert plants blooming, century plants in their full glory with sights of whales seals, hawks, doves and owls. A trip that has to be experienced.

“Best trip ever!”

Irene and Bruce were nothing but fun and excitement! Between light up games in the dark and sharing wine by the fire the pair became like family immediately, we cannot wait to come back as soon as we can:) We have reccomended many people and hope that our special spot is a special place in many peoples' hearts. We love you guys! Josh & Hector
