Very Good

“Lovely stay in a big and very private villa”

Reviewed 30 Mar 2015

We stayed 9 days in villa Puri Soka and as it has been said many times before, the view is magnificent. The villa is situated on a hill maybe one km from the beach. It is very private although there are some other villas on the neighborhood. The pool is large but the water was a bit murky at the time of our stay. The villa was kept in a very clean condition while our stay and the garden is beautiful. There is maybe a 10-15 min. drive to Lovina village where the restaurants and the shops are. Some restaurants offer free pickup or delivery service and it worked very well for us. The staff is of course ready to make meals for you and the ones we ate, were very delicious. We were also very satisfied with the breakfast we had in the villa. The staff is very polite, lovely and discreet. We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back again.

“Perfect stay in villa Puri Soka”

Villa Puri Soka is a nice and luxurius house where you easely can stay with 10 persons. The view from the house and large swimmingpool is great. There are two maids for the housework and the cook perfect. We recommended this house absolutely!!

“Good value for money, but unmaintained condition and remote location"”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2015

We stayed for 2 weeks over xmas 2014 and New Year in Puri Soka with family of 9 people (5 students, 4 adults). The Villa itself, the rooms and the beautiful garden are very nice on the first view and the view from up there is stunning, but on a second view you can see that it is lacking a lot of maintenance and cleaning especially in the bathrooms and the kitchen. Also the pool was not maintained well, we all got green hair and green swimwear after the first day. The staff is very polite, but they hardly speak any English and they are not trained well (if at all) which in the beginning was forgivable, but it made organisation of household and cooking very complicated and in the end we thought it would be better without them. They also do not take care well of the kitchen (very dirty) and the fridge (we threw away groceries regularly which were expired or mouldy). Cleaning the bedrooms takes them 5 minutes max. The rest of the day they do nothing unless you tell them to do e.g. some laundry. The quality of the food was not bad, but average and if you know Asian food it was not comparable to the quality you get in the more sophisticated areas of Bali like Ubud or Seminyak. The price however was unbeatable, we paid on average below EUR 10 per day per person (incl. beer and wine) and we had breakfast in the Villa every day and abt. half of the evenings dinner. Unfortunately some cash was taken from one of our rooms and even if it is easy to suspect the staff, nothing could be proven (we called the police and talked to the Villa manager). The Villa manger Jack and the driver August however were fluent in English and very attentive and kind. August is a very good (and safe!) driver and has plenty of tips for the surroundings and area. Also he is very honest and probably the best experience we had from among the staff. Since the master bed room on top of the Villa is very large and there is only one small aircon unit and the sun shines the whole day on top of the room with it's large glass windows, it's very hot at night (26 deg plus despite the aircon running 24/7). As compensation we were given the guesthouse for free which was very nice of the management. Be aware that the area is very remote. Because of the traffic you need abt. 2.5 hours to Ubud and 3 hours to Seminyak area (one time it took us 5 hours...). The benefit is, that you hardly have any tourists and get a taste of the "real" Bali and Indonesia (mainly poor), the disadvantage is that you have hardly any infrastructure. The internet is very slow (0.3 mbps) and there are power blackouts abt. 3-5 times a day. Even though there are some restaurants, bars and shops in the area, they are by far not comparable to the standards of the tourist areas of South Bali. Near the Villa however are plenty of culture attractions and the proximity to the mountains gives a different taste of Bali if you know the south already. Even though it’s called Lovina Beach, you can’t really call it a beach, at least not for swimming. It’s a dirty narrow stretch of black sand and I have never seen anyone in the water. Overall we had a good time at a very cheap price, but since there is nothing much to do in the direct area of the Villa, you either have to drive very long or just stay in the Villa which would have been great, if the staff was better and the Villa in a better (cleaner) condition.

Villa Puri Soka is just amazing. The correspondence i had with Angelique was always answered very quickly and she provided an information pack that was so helpful. There was general Bali information included which was great. The Villa and the views are breath taking. The pool is just amazing. The sun bed was one of my favourite spots to relax, read and look at the view. The entire property is so well maintained its just beautiful. The staff were great, so happy to prepare our meals, do some shopping for us and help with any questions we had. We just wished we had spent all our holiday there. We will be back next year and will highly recommend to family and friends.

“Villa Puri Soka was amazing”

Villa Puri Soka was amazing ... I have never stayed in a place with such an amazing view and I have travelled the world! How many places can you stand in the shower and look out at the ocean and mountains. We checked in with a party of 9 plus toddler and had such a warm welcome from the staff who really looked after us with some wonderful breakfasts and dinners. The villa was perfect for a large group - it has 5 bedrooms and bathrooms and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and the magnificent pool which we occupied every day. The day bed upstairs also provided a perfect place for relaxation and once again the breathtaking views! If you would like to get away from the hussle and bussle of southern Bali I would highly recommend Villa Puri Soka to recharge your batteries.

“Awesome! Unforgetable Getaway..”

This is the most opulent place I have ever stayed. A sprawling hilltop 2 storey 4 bedrooms villa with a beautiful private pool overlooking rice terraces & the sea...all to ourselves! It is secluded, windy & very private. Sing Sing Spa which is only 10mins walk away offers the best massage ever. Friendly & efficient staff (2 housemaids, 1 gardener, 1 security guard, 1 helpdesk, etc) make our stay most memorable. All in all it was a terrific experience.

“Life changing!”

This is a wonderful Villa. We've traveled widely and Bali is, by far, the best place we've vacationed. Visit Puri Soka if you want to see the less touristy (northern) side of Bali. The staff there are amazing. Food was excellent. Our driver was so friendly. A visit to his home was a highlight of the trip. The views from the Villa are exceptional. I can't think of one negative thing to say. Bali is a long way from Pennsylvania but we might be back!!!
