“Outstanding location, luxurious space”

Reviewed 25 May 2015

We stayed at Point on Burrell for four days at the end of May, and enjoyed every single bit of our time there. While this was during cooler, almost winter weather, Waiheke was still wonderfully pleasant for walking a leisurely half an hour back and forth to town from Dan and Liz's lovely holiday home. There were blissfully few people on the island at this time of year, a glorious contrast to the summer tourist crowds. Even at the restaurants and wineries the owners had time to chat with us. At night when the temperature would drop, Point on Burrell is splendidly comfortable, completely private, with lots of space and a fully equipped kitchen. And of course, the views are breath taking to the bay. Lovely stay at a charming place, perfect for romantic getaways, and we would strongly recommend visiting Waiheke during the offseason.

Response from the owner Thanks very much for the great review. Totally agree re the comments about Waiheke during the off peak months. It takes on a completely different feel and as locals we love it!

“We didn't want to leave....”

Reviewed 22 Jan 2015

We've stayed in a lot of properties around the world and this is exceptional in so many ways. Stunning sea views from every room, tranquil and peaceful, very clean, modern, great use of space, private deck, beautiful linen. The bed is very comfortable and we had the best sleeps there! I don't think the photos really do it justice. it was even better than we thought it would be. The location is brilliant. It is approximately 20 minutes easy walk to Oneroa Village, which has lovely quaint shops and a small supermarket (Four Square) not to mention cafes and restaurants. Little Oneroa beach is even closer, and has fabulous fish and chips and pizza which you can eat on the beach. The property provides 2 mountain bikes and helmets but we didn't use these - a great addition though if you're up for it. We stayed 4 nights and only hired a car for 2 days to travel to some of the wineries. Otherwise we were very content to stay in our wonderful accomodation and soak up the gorgeous views and sea breezes. This property is so well appointed and designed. There were games, magazines, music and DVDs for use. The information provided by the owners was brilliant, including discounts for various services on the Island. We will most definitely return here to stay. A wonderful retreat.

Response from the owner What a fantastic review. We're so pleased that The Point was such a perfect base for your stay. Thanks so much for staying with us.

“perfect getaway for a relaxing couples break”

Enjoyed a great, relaxing stay, the views were amazing and The Point had everything we needed for a lovely break. The location was superb being close to the main village, we would love to come back again soon.

“Blissful”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2014

If you are wanting a blissfully relaxing and gorgeous place to stay then The Point on Burrell is it. There are amazing views of the sea and the island and all your creature comforts are taken care of here. Oneroa village and beaches are in walking distance. We would definitely recommend a stay here for any couples who want a romantically cosy and private getaway.

Response from the owner Thanks Phil & Susan. We are thrilled we provided such a blissful stay for you. Job done and hope to have you back!

“Awesome!”

Well appointed modern funky accomodation with fantastic views. Handy location but still very private. Hosts fabulous - couldn't do enough for us!! Will definitely be back :)

“Your home away from home…but only if you already live close to p”

Reviewed 25 Feb 2014

This place is an absolute gem for a bundle of the usual reasons. Plus it's the only place on the island that we could find that suits a significant part of the market. Basically, if you're a couple and you want something that is not only delightfully comfortable and well-appointed for the price, but is also genuinely self-catering (a microwave and a bar fridge doth not a kitchen make!) then this is your spot. The location is good...20 minutes comfortable walk to town. You have stunning views, your own parking spot, stunning views, delightful neighbours (the owners, who will either leave you entirely alone or join you for a drink on the balcony, depending on your choice), stunning views, and all the little extras you need (except maybe an ice-tray - Dan, can you sort that please?) to make your stay oh-so comfortable. Oh...and stunning views. The facilities are excellent - a good clean bathroom with a nice shower, the kitchen has all that you need to cook up a fine meal from the excellent local produce, plus a movable bench for more or less space as required. There's a small fridge inside and a full fridge outside. The bedroom is large, with plenty of storage space and a lovely bed with quality linen. But it's the interface between indoors and out that really makes this place sing. A full wall of glass retracts to let in the fresh air and makes the balcony an extension of the main living area. And upstairs, double width retracting door make the bedroom part of the great outdoors. You have to be the right person for this place; it's not right in the centre of town nor is it across the road from the beach; it doesn't come with hot and cold running servants; and there's no manicured macro-biotic muesli presented on dragonfly wing-encrusted crockery. It's just like visiting your family and getting the guest quarters. If you're more interested in having a great holiday yourself rather than just showing off to your friends, then The Point is your kind of place.

“relaxing with great views”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2014

From start to finish, this was a great experience. wonderfully comfortable bed and the kitchen had everything you needed. particularly appreciated the olive oil, vinegar and small selection of spices. variety of sample size shampoos etc (suggest you may want to bring your own). When we arrived we opened all windows to catch the sea breeze and this blew out the hot air so didnt miss air-conditioning. The view was great and we enjoyed cooking on the BBQ watching sunset. Also good to have washing machine, pegs, clothes line, and clear instructions. very good selection of information on the island so if you are not familiar or haven't done your research it doesn't matter.

“Superb Stay, fantastic views in a beautiful house”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2014

We stayed in 'The Point on Burrell' over the Christmas period and absolutely loved it. The house was so modern and had everything you could possibly want for your self catering stay. Everywhere was clean and so very comfortable. The town was in walking distance 15-20mins. and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Wherever you are in the house there are fantastic views over the bay, I have to say the view from the bedroom was the best! The bed was one of the most comfortable I have stayed in whilst on holiday. I can't recommend this property enough. Dan and Liz were on hand nearby to help with any questions we had. We can't wait to go back :-).

Response from the owner Thanks so much for your fantastic & detailed review guys. We totally love it when all the hard work pays off in the form of a very special holiday for our guests. We can't wait to have you back too!

“The stunning views”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2013

The entire experience was very good, the information provided, picking up the key and the quality of the accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious, open flow the building design provided, from the deck we were able to really enjoy that spectacular sunset on the night we were there. I would have no hesitation in recommending Point on Burrell to anyone looking for a well-appointed, private but not too far out of the way accommodation with stunning views.
