“we want to go back”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2013

Everything as advertised, only better. We had good instructions on how to get there and Pietro answered all our questions. The breakfasts (included) were really special. Have you ever had fresh figs? Neither had we. The place was a very nice apartment, clean good furnishings, including everything you might need for cooking as well. We loved Barga itself. It's not like going to one of the cities; Barga is only a small town. When you meet people on the street, you say "Buongiorno" and they return it. The old town is even narrower streets. Some excellent ristorante there. We had the best pasta ever at L'Altana. The only thing some people might find to be an issue is that it's about 20 minutes walk into town. We enjoyed that too, but people who don't enjoy walking will probably get tired of it.

Response from the owner thank you Thomas and Leslie, you've been wonderful guests! Pietro

“An outstanding welcome overlooking Barga”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2013

We stayed for 2 nights (by special arrangement) and we wish we could have stayed longer. Pietro is the ideal host - welcoming, friendly, informative, knowledgeable and approachable - and the accommodation in a large, well equipped room (which is suitable for B&B; or self-catering)was perfect. We can thoroughly recommend the breakfasts - copious amounts of mouthwatering local produce - fish, ham, cheese, figs, bread and fruit. The outlook from our private patio across the valley to Barga and the hill-tops beyond was breath-taking at any time of day. We loved it all!!

Response from the owner Thank you Chris, we enjoyed your company! Pietro

“Exceptional, Home from Home”

Reviewed 3 Oct 2013

Pietro could not have made us more welcome, it was like staying with a friend or relative! We were only sorry not to meet his wife Marijke who was away at the time. Although the accommodation was fully equipped for self catering we opted for the B&B; too - and so glad we did. Every day we were greeted with a delicious array of breads, pastries, fruit, meats, cheese, home made preserves, fruit juice and yogurts, cereal too - varied every day. We were also treated to a pizza making evening which Pietro hopes to repeat in the future. Great fun! The accommodation was excellent with comfortable bed, open plan kitchen and private patio with patio set and loungers. The location was fantastic, located above the town of Barga with a lovely view of the old town and its historic church set against the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed beautiful sun sets, sun rises and wonderful views of the town with mist swirling in the valleys below. Sky TV service and good WiFi internet service. Excellent base for walking/hiking and exploring Barga and other local villages. 45 min drive from Lucca, 60 min to Pisa which are also possible by train from Barga. We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing stay and hope to return.

Response from the owner Thank you Marianne for this amazing review: I also enjoyed greatly your visit and am glad to have met you. You've been wonderful guests!

“A great time at La Serra.”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2013

My wife and I stayed in the Tavernetta rooms for a week, self-catering. The rooms were well appointed and immaculately kept. The cooking facilities included a two-ring electric hob, a micro-wave oven and a well judged selection of good quality cooking utensils. The Tavernetta rooms have a private terrace with panoramic views across and beyond Barga - a magnificent place to breakfast as the rising sun hits the tops of the apuan alps. La Serra is situated on a quiet side road and it's a pleasant, mostly off-road, 20 minute stroll into town. Pietro and Marijke are gregarious folk, at home in several languages, friendly, and very helpful - Pietro has a small library of maps and booklets, and his own series of guides to local walks. Largely thanks to them, we had a great time.

“A most wonderful stay!!”

The first week of august we stayed in room 'Bellavista' and really enjoyed every minute of it. In spite of the hot weather, the house stayed pleasantly cool. The room was spacious and perfectly clean. And the view was superb! But, above all, we enjoyed the great hospitality of Pietro and Marijke! The warm welcome, the good walks, the dialy Italian newspaper a.s.o.

Response from the owner You are too kind, Patty! We also enjoyed your company! Pietro

“Beautiful Barga”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2013

We absolutely recommend this place for everyone. We spent a week there with a 4-year-old, and the room was confortable for the three of us, the breakfast was superb. The owners are really kind, always willing to help, and Barga is also a beautiful place to visit.

“Very good location and accomodation”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2013

It was nice staying at pietro bianchessi B&B.; Pietro prepared for us an excellent breakfast every day, especially the cheeses were very good. He gaved us a good types for trips and there was a beautiful view from the terrace. We like an apartment, I was nice and cozy. Greetings from Prague :)

“Very enjoyable!”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

A very nice stay in comfortable apartment with a terrace with stunning view started with a warm welcome by Pietro and Marijke. There was an abundance of very good information on mountain- trips and other activities and Barga was just beautiful without being too touristy.

The incredible view, location, personalized breakfasts, apartment, cleanliness, and hospitality of the hosts made this one of the highlights of our month long visit to Italy. Pietro and Marijke welcomed us and made us feel part of their home and community. Their continued helpfulness with information about the area made our visit much richer. Their attention to detail and love of the area is obvious in their restoration of the property. Spending time with them is an added bonus to the exciting area around Barga. The landscape is beautiful and although the house is just outside of town, it's easy to get around with a car. On site parking is wonderful. There's a train station in the town but it's not a reasonable distance to walk with luggage. If you just wanted a place to to relax with a good book, comfortable surroundings, and scenic patio, you could walk into Barga and enjoy the hikes from the property. Barga is a perfect location for scenic drives and visiting the hill towns of the area as well as the apuan alps. Our four days went by too fast and we hope to return to the area in the future. As B and B's go, this one has a special charm. Don't hesitate, book La Serra without reservation.

Response from the owner Ttthank you Carolyn for your enthusiastic comment. Pietro and Marijke

“Phantastischer Urlaub!!”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2012

Response from the owner Danke Tobi und Silke fuer diese wunderbare Worte. Wir waren froh, Euch hier zu haben! Pietro
