“Fantastic Place to Stay”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2015

Our stay at the Stables was fantastic. We were very warmly welcomed by Ian and enjoyed our drinks with him. He very kindly arranged for rooms to be changed around to accommodate relatives coming to stay. Flying the Flag for our arrival was a lovely touch. The house was big enough, very warm with the burner and plenty of equipment to ensure we needed nothing. The shop behind the house, on the grounds was an added bonus. We had family and frends coming over each night we were there meaning there was between 6 and 13 people at the house at any one time for lunch or dinner and during the evening. We had between 4 and 7 people staying at the house at any one time and there was plenty room. We will most definitely be coming back to the UK when my daughter gets married so we will be staying in the house for approx 1 month. We can't wait. Thanks again Ian for such a wonderful, comfortable stay. We look foward to seeing you again in 2018/19. We will be Australian Citizens so you can fly the Australian flag !!!

“English Country Charm”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2014

Myself, my husband, adult daughter and teenage son stayed at "The Stables" for nine nights and it was simply perfect! The house has the most amazing country kitchen and in general is full of interesting rooms. We were charmed from the moment we arrived. Ian and his boys were so hospitable and just lovely. Clean comfortable beds and bathroom, with soft clean towels were enjoyed by all. Ian was kind enough to stock the fridge with basic necessities for weary travelers. We especially loved where the house is situated and took pretty walks through the fields and enjoyed the baby bulls in the adjacent field along with the pond stocked with fish. Doddington Hall and shops are but a few steps away. We will most definitely be staying here again and cannot speak highly enough of the place and the "welcome" feeling that was bestowed on us upon our arrival. Thanks again Ian, you are wonderful! “Delightful”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2014

A beautiful house set in stunning surroundings. The Stables is fully equiped with everything you need, huge towels, big comfortable beds, family size kitchen and sitting room. Quirky, with a real family home feeling. The owner Ian is very friendly, informative and eccentrically delightful. The only downside to the whole Doddington Hall experience is having to leave at the end of your stay, we wanted to stay forever, idyllic.

“Comfortable, welcoming, well-equipped cottage in attractive surr”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2014

This was an ideal cottage for an Easter break. The provisions in the fridge, including wine, the fresh flowers in every room and the central heating being on were very welcome. The owner is attentive and generous without being intrusive. The nearby Doddington Hall with its Restaurant, Farm shop and other shopping areas was very convenient with no disturbance. The large garden with lawns, revolving sun-house, and wildlife was a great place to relax in.

“Feeling home in UK”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2014

I am travelling with my wife and have stayed at Stables a few times already. Whenever I stay, Ian always welcome us with our national Korean Flag. Everything inside is well organized and it makes me confortable from the first day. The house is clean and well equipped with all the necessary things. I am an antique dealer and there is a large space of parking for my van. The host Ian is very much kind and helps even a small things. One time I forgot to take something from the fridge and he sent me by air later. Recently he installed wifi connection and we can have internet access even at the bed! There is also supermarket and a cosy restaurant just near the building. It is really like my second home in UK.

“Excellent spacious accommodation”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2014

We stayed at the Stables for a week over the Christmas period and found it to be an excellent warm, comfortahble and spacious house and very well equipped. Ian, the owner, was welcoming and generously left us wine, mince pies and other goodies. Thank you Ian. The house is located next to Doddington Hall with its great farm shop and there are some lovely walks across the Lincolnshire countryside. We had a lovely relaxing time and very much hope to return.

“How could you not love these accommodations?”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2013

There are 4 of ur (two couples) who have known each other for years. We have a great love of antiques and England. Two of us lived here in the late 60's and came to love England and its beauty. We now still love England for its beauty, but love to go to the two large antique fairs. These accommodations could not be any more centrally located or any more comfortable. We come from the us, so we are able not only to save money over staying at motels, but also we can cook in this house which saves us even more money. It is comfortable, convenient, and quiet. Ian could not be more obliging and friendly, and we have come to think of him as a friend. You can't go wrong staying at the Stables. “Wonderful home away from home for the whole family!”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2013

We stayed at The Stables for two weeks with our young children, aged 2 and 7, and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. The house is very roomy, so much so that for the first week we keep getting turned around trying to find the different rooms! There was nothing that we could have wanted during our stay that was not provided, and there are many stores and restaurants very close by to pick up anything you might need. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was heavenly. And as a very 'wired' family, the WiFi access kept us sane. :-) We also found the location very beautiful and peaceful. The kids enjoyed running around the garden and petting the dogs any chance they could. The outdoor furniture in the summerhouse was appreciated and put to good use as we stayed during a very hot July heatwave and did some visiting outside with family from the area. We barely got a breeze to see our Canadian flag flapping, but I can't blame The Stables for that! Ian was a wonderful host; he gave us interesting information on the history of the house when we first arrived and checked in with us a few times during our stay. He was very patient with the children and very kind and friendly. He even picked us a hefty bucket of raspberries on the morning of our departure, which was a thoughtful and much appreciated gift. We thoroughly recommend a stay for families and look forward to visiting again the next time we head to Lincoln... :-)

“Perfect rental for wedding weekend”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

Such a lovely house in a fantastic location. We were there for a wedding at Doddington Hall which was the most convient accomodation, not only for the wedding but for the wonderful farm shop and restaurant. The house is beautifully clean and well equipped with everything you might need. Beds were very comfortable, and all the decor is very cosy and smart. Wifi was great, as was the digibox for the TV. We enjoyed the lovely garden with the sun house in the Lincolnshire sunshine. We were made to feel very welcome by the owner, so would definitely stay again.

“Peaceful, quiet convenient place to stay”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2012

We have stayed at the Stables twice, and have formed a wonderful relationship with the owner, Ian. He is a wonderful host and a very accommodating rentor. We love the convenience of the location of the Stables because we travel to two large antique fairs nearby. We love the quiet, peaceful restful atmosphere. We also love the convenience of having the washer and dryer which allows us to bring less clothing so that we can take more antiques home in our suitcases. And, as americans we love having the freezer so we can have our "ice" we love so much in our drinks. Plus there is a great mattress on the king size bed. We would recommend this facility we no reserve. Forrest & Donna Cooper - Florence, Mississippi USa
