We had a wonderful stay at Mark & Pam's cabin! It is perfectly located to make the drive into Milford Sound, it is modern and clean, very comfortable and well-stocked. We were very well taken care of and enjoyed talking to Pam. We had sumptuous fresh breakfast fixings set out for us, plus all kinds of little snacks. We stayed 2 days with our three adult children. The location is rural and quiet. We would absolutely stay here again! We had such a fantastic visit to New Zealand from New Hampshire!
Response from the owner It was our pleasure to have you and your family stay Alison, so pleased we helped make your visit to New Zealand an enjoyable one. Thanks, Pam
“A special place”
We loved everything about the Hollows Log Cabin, especially Pam and Mark's friendly hospitality. We're already planning our next stay. A perfect location for bushwalking and exploring Fiordland.
Response from the owner It was a pleasure to have you, looking forward to your next visit. Thanks Pam
“A great place to stay!”
We have traveled the world and this is one of the most comfortable places we have stayed. It is a real log home with all of the latest amenities! We were greeted by Pam and Rocko (a very friendly sheep dog) as we arrived at the main house. Pam took the time to show us around the cabin that is just steps away from the main house. The gable end of the house has an inviting porch with glass sliding doors to take in the mountain views. The eat-in kitchen is very well equipped and the gas BBQ grill rounds out the your ability to treat yourself to wonderful meals. The dishwasher is very handy and helps you enjoy your time even more. The bathroom is equipped with a generously sized shower and a heated floor. If you have been traveling for a while there is a washer and a dryer so you can dry your clothes on the quick. The master bedroom is quiet and very comfortable. If you have more folks with you, the loft has plenty of space and easily sleeps 3 more. The living room has two very comfortable leather couches that are perfect for enjoying the gas fireplace and the lovely mountain views. If the weather allows the wide covered front porch has a table and chairs as well to allow alfresco dining. If you want a self-contained accommodation as your base to visit Fiordland this is it. Town is less then 5 minutes away with lots of shops, a cinema and two grocery stores. Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound are great day trips from here along with many activities along Lake Te anau and Lake Manapouri.
“Fantastic cabin in a great location with friendly hosts!”
Pam and Mark were extremely friendly and helpful before, during, and after our stay! The cabin had everything we needed and more, including a fully stocked kitchen with more groceries than we could eat. Thanks for the great place and wonderful service! We couldn't have planned a more relaxing stay.
“Favorite accomodations of Trip”
Pam and Mark are wonderful hosts! Rocko is even better. From the moment you pull up the drive, you are greeted by Rocko, a huge white Italian Sheepdog. He is gorgeous! Pam and Mark have done a wonderful job adding all the touches of home to the cabin. Free wifi - cooking spray, warm fuzzy towels - a gas grill - I could go on and on! We absolutely loved our stay in The Hollows. If we ever get back to NZ, we will definitely spend time here again! The kids loved hiking around, touring the Glow Worm caves, cruising Milford sound - feeding the horses on the property - and of course playing with Rocko. It was the perfect end to a perfect vacation! Thank you
One of the most comfortable and enjoyable accommodation we've stayed in New Zealand. The log cabin is amazing and is very well stocked with the necessaries and luxuries including beautiful breakfast provisions. The surroundings were peaceful and perfect for having breakfasts outdoor. Pam was a gracious host and made sure that we were very comfortable. It's a fabulous place to come back to after a long drive to Milford Sound, We didn't want to leave!
The cabin is very cozy, the location is beautiful, and Mark and Pam are very attentive and accommodating hosts. If you're looking for your own private retreat from the crowd while still being convenient to Te anau, do not hesitate to book The Hollows. It was by far the nicest place we stayed during our two weeks in New Zealand.
“Peace tranquility & luxury”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hollows. The cabin is fully self-contained with added treats such as a complimentary bottle of wine, fresh local fruit basket and breakfast supplies. After a long drive we couldn't have asked for more! If you're interested in exploring Te anau, Milford/Doubtful Sound or the Fiordland region, The Hollow's definitely is the perfect place to base yourself.
Pam and Mark's log cabin was the perfect place to unwind after our wedding in Queenstown. We'd had a wonderful couple of weeks with our family and friends from all over the world and needed a few days to ourselves to completely relax and get used to being husband and wife. The cottage was incredibly comfortable and well stocked, spotlessly clean and the setting was idyllic. Pam was very friendly but also left us completely to our own devices so we could enjoy our quiet time together. We had a wonderful stay!
“The Hollows - Te anau”
My wife and I along with our teenage kids had the pleasure of spending 3 nights in 'The Hollows' cabin in July 2010. Everything about the place along with the service provide by Pam during our stay was outstanding. The serenity, the smell of the countryside, the views, the creature comforts provided by our hosts which included having Pam put the heating on in the cabin before we returned from a day at Milford Sound and ensuring the cabin was spotlessly clean and stocked with everything we needed, were second to none. We also made a special friend in 'Rocco' a very friendly & playful European? sheep dog. Was it cheap? No, it wasn't cheap and neither should it have been as it is what I consider to be a luxury cabin. Wwe thought it was great value for money and well worth every cent. We won't bother looking elsewhere when we return to Te anau.
Response from the owner Thank you for your lovely comments... see you next time. Pam
